I was a Tesco broadband customer for 13 years. I didn't think there'd be any problems with the transfer to TalkTalk when Tesco sold their service would be trouble-free. Far from it.
Firstly, I get emailed a link to set up a TalkTalk account but the link doesn't work.
Secondly, I expected the payment details which I'd paid Tesco would have been transferred to TalkTalk, so was surprised to get a bill in the post which included a charge for sending that paper bill, but also said I'd be charged £4.50 a month for not having a direct debit set up. I phoned customer services to set up the direct debit and thought payments would be done smoothly from then on.
No such luck. I get a letter six weeks after the direct debit was set up to say I owed money. Only a few hours later my broadband service was cut off. Customer services can't give any explanation as to why when I set up a direct debit to pay my bill they aren't using it to take payment.

At Christmas I was receiving 5/6 meg not good, I was taken in by the hype of paying more for 18 months and getting faster broadband what a con . Once the 18 month contract started my speed dropped .to .8mg to 1.5 meg and despite several calls to talktalk engineers the speed improves for 30 mins and then drops to meg again. Take my advice and avoid them like the plaque.

over the years I have had a number of different accounts with Talk Talk. Because you cannot add a new service to an existing account, you have to come up with a new email address each time. Eventually you run out of email accounts !!! and whilst you can log-in to phone or broadband you cancelled 3 years ago, you cannot access your current service. Customer Service is useless and in these COVID days non-existent, so don't bother. I'm going to be moving the five different accounts I have with talk Talk to another provider. Trying to sort things out on chat lines is all very well if you have nothing else to do with your time, except even that doesn't resolve any problems.

The worse service we have ever subscribed to. We have had no Internet connection for over a week. We have repeatedly called, waited for hours on end, got cut off, complained on twitter, been promised a manger will call (never does), was promised a modem would be sent out. So no Internet connection and way to get a solution. Do not use their service, when you need help they won't give it you.

Just had a conversation with Customer service about my speeds. Nothing wrong with the line speed, always constant and good for copper cable. I asked Talktalk to tell me why the system slowed down during certain parts of the day. They tell me this is normal and can be expected. Something to do with the load on the servers etc. or so they say. The point I made was that there would be no point in me paying for fibre as the servers were a problem and not the connection. I was told that fibre was totally different and I wouldn't have this problem. I asked them to explain to me how it would be different as it was a server problem. I don't have an answer so that is good customer service. Maybe if Talktalk reads this they could give me an explanation.

Don't touch this company with a Barge Pole. Forget any "good reviews" they're almost certainly provided by the 'company'. This service has progressively reduced to one of absolute horror, virtually unusable. My system is modern, lines etc; are good, just the crap I have to communicate with is the problem.

Lousy slow service on adsl, poor customer service with recurring problems with routers dropping connection multiple times per day, the only way to get a new router seems to be to agree to sign for further 18 month contract of pain. This is only after a prolonged scripted conversation with multiple people asking if you have tried switching things off and on again aargh! Super router promised to fix all and just as crap as the others. They try and palm the tv box readily for free with new contracts as this incurs and even bigger charge if you want to cancel, luckily I dodged this one and virgin able to levy almost all the cancellation charge of my first bill!

Customer Service dreadful- Can't use the online chat service as too busy, no notification that they are putting their prices up. Telephoned to be left waiting for 36 minutes on recorded message, then representative offers a reduced price deal and after reading T&C's I am cut off - 54 minutes of life wasted on this useless company.

Disgusting customer service.Managers that lie to you,dis connect the call on purpose,no help with signal dropping out all the time.
I waited a full month after a talk talk engineer diagnosed a fault on my line.
No help whatsoever and after all the lies told to me by this company I urge everyone to boycott this scum of a company, never spoke to the same fault manager after ringing daily for a full month. They will tell you anything from pre scripted lines drilled into them.................JOIN AT YOUR PERIL !!!

I wish there was a 0 star for customer service. I asked to be moved to my address a week ago and finally someone called me today after 7 days to tell me that they are investigating an issue and will take 29 days to be moved. Told them is unavailable to call me after a week and tell me that. And I asked to have my contract canceld. They made me wait on the phone for 28 min tot Connect me to the relevant department and then when I finally spoke to them they told me they need to transfer to another department. And so like that for 1 hour and 25 min. Please avoid the internet quality is rubbish. Go somewhere else.

TalkTalk should be avoided at all costs! Do not use! Please.

The service starts ok in terms of speed and reliability but if you want to change ANYTHING, your entire world will collapse around you. This NOT a joke.

When I initially singed up, I got around 1MBps - not good but adequate and actually pretty good considering where we live.

Over time, it degraded until I got only 0.1MBps or 0.2MBps on a good day. Their minimum guarantee was 0.8MBps.

I called customer service -again and again and again. I lost count of the number of times I was told to reset the router and change the filter. I had 4 engineers visit, none of whom achieved anything whatsoever. I called customer services and my problem was 'elevated' to a solutions manager who promised to personally follow the whole resolution through until I was happy. Eventually, I had 4 such people 'helping' me and, of course, none of them achieved anything.

I asked to be given the head office complaints contact details and had a long argument with the 'solutions manager' as to why he refused to give it to me.

I informed that, since they had underperformed their guarantee massively for months, I was cancelling the contract and was not going to pay any penalties. They told me that they would sue me for all the outstanding monthly premiums. They said that they would only release me early was if I gave a further month to resolve the problem. I asked for the HO complaints contact and after asking for the manager's manager's manager (despite them promising me that they did not have any manager anywhere). I wrote to HO complaints and received an reply, eventually, saying my problem would be handed to a 'solutions manager' who would be responsible for resolving the problem to my satisfaction! (Ho! Ho!)

The month elapsed after at least 4 more resets and tests and engineers.

They then agreed to cancel the contract and then charged me for all the outstanding premiums.

DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE RISK OF THIS HAPPENING TO YOU.

I have been with AOL since around 1994 and apart from the odd glitch I was very happy with their service. However, since Talk Talk took over the service has gone from bad to worse to appalling. I am paying £20 a month for this rubbish. I don't know how they are getting away with providing this pathetic excuse for a service. If there was a prize for 'Super SLOW Broadband' they would top the list every time. I'm off to pastures new when I can actually find a decent company. Looking at the reviews though, they all seem just as bad!! However, if you are thinking of joining Talk Talk think again, they are hopeless beyond belief. If I could give a minus rating for each category I would!!!

Absolute rubbish company to deal with. you can never get to speak to anybody . its all automated speak to lines and the chat line takes ages to type your complaint in detail. Had a bad crackiling phoneline which i reported and they eventually said by text the broadband speed was slow , I had a reply saying it had been resolved and i am still only getting 2.3 mbs download and that is supposed to be fibre, at least the phone hasstopped crackeling.

I had just a very small issue which they kept on Lieing to me making me feel stupid and thinking am a fool. They made me wait more than 15 days to just get my internet line sorted and never got it sorted. They are never helpful and not genuine at all. You can here them sighing over the phone absolutely no care policy. I will never ever trust or get anymore further products and services from this organisation. Do Not ever fall for there deals. A fortnight after Joining TalkTalk, and at least 20 hours on the phone I still did not have a working internet or access to my account. I had two visits from open reach both informing me the line was in tip top condition, and that the signal to noise ratio was badly wrong, in other word TalkTalk were restricting my internet, I even listened to one of the engineers telling them this.
I had no choice but to leave as I had no usable internet and it was unlikely they would resolve the problems caused by them. Over the last couple of months they have started demanding money for cancelling and moving to a supplier that instantly gave me internet. Now they are going to send this “dept” to a dept collector and were keen to tell me this would seriously affect my credit rating.
TallTalk are an evil company who will go to any lengths to make money and have no concern for the way they treat their customers, you have been warned!

Have been with Talktalk since returning to the UK to live after nearly 40 years in South Africa. Hence I have no other supplier I can compare them with. Customer service has always been good I have never had any reason to complain about them. We moved to fibre as soon as it was available in our area, up to 38mbps. Speeds were always in the range of 32 to 38 Mbps. Last black friday offers we renewed our contract (our old contract had expired long ago) and moved onto up to 76 Mbps. the best we ever got was 47 Mbps and this was only for a few days, and since then the speed has been around 30 Mbps. We have had constant visits from open reach, and TT engineers to no avail. In fact some of the engineers did nothing except talk. The last engineer was from openreach and took time to look at the set up and found a very bad connection where the line terminated in a joint box at the overhead line. The speed is now very stable at +- 40 Mbps. I won`t go into the technical reasons for the speed available but I have to accept what I was told as it sounds an honest answer to all my questions. He did explain this was the highest STABLE speed we could expect. I have not checked the speed at the master socket but it will be more than the 40 Mbps. Talk Talk have always been as helpful as they can and applied a discount for all the inconvenience we have had. £44 so this covered a month of "free use". This was offered without me asking for anything. All in all, Talk Talk have tried very hard to help and have always been help full and respectful even when I was sounding off.

wow.. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.. where to begin?
    1) Wifi doesnt work. never has
2)Internet worst ive ever had( worse than a dongle!)ps3 online - no chance, online poker -no chance ( once disconnected with me having AAAA and 2 people all in for an amount of money which would pay the whole service 2 years over.)
3)no ethernet cable will work with the router other than the crummy 2ft one provided.
4)they add things to your bill youve never asked for ( charged me 7.50 calls boost i didnt ask for and have never used the phone once in 3 months? madness)
5)when you complain to customer service about the extra charges they decided you need to pay. they say what you want to hear and then charge you again anyway( happened this months bill too)
6)when your direct debit doesnt work when youve agreed a 18.45 a month package, left 20 in the bank and it isnt covered coz theyve added 7.50 to your bill against your will they also charge you 10 fee.
Absolute con artists, amazed how they are still in business. ill end as i started AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Appalling service. This bunch of shysters are obstructive, dishonest and care not one bit about people’s circumstances, only about rinsing every last penny from them. I am a disabled customer and have been trying for months to get on their ‘social tariff’ (which they pretend not to know about) sent evidence that they deny receiving and have just sent me an increased bill! I have spent many hours on the phone and been told blatant lies and been passed around from department to department to the point t where I have cried in frustration. Absolutely dreadful.

my utility bills company, no problem at all till i got to
bloody TALK TALK, has been a absolutely nightmare
they are just refusing to disconnect me, ignoring everything i say. I'm thinking in get a lawyer to
deal with them because i don't know what to do any
more. I sincerely hope they go bankrupt very soon i
    just hate them.

I've been with bt for 30 years paying a fortune every month.
Switched to talk talk. Equipment delivered, plugged straight into existing boxes, Internet immediately, saving £15 per month now. Very pleased, wish I'd done it years ago.

The most awful broadband provider I have come across. Drops the connection constantly. Cannot wait till I can get rid of them. Please avoid these idiots.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Just the worst company I have ever dealt with. I cancelled with talk talk over a year ago and the entire time since I have received bills of random amounts. After numerous telephone and online conversations with people who told me the account was cancelled they still sent me bills. The frustraion I have had with them over the last year is awful. We had the ombudsman involved and I finally believed I was free of them ! Until yesterday that was when apparently I owed a late payment fee of 10 pounds! This has come from nowhere and after arguing my case they have told me they have waived the charge! how nice of them! Ths over the last year has caused me sleepless nights as I have been in fear of being in debt to a company that I left but has continued to charge me, threatening me with debt collectors. It is people's lives they are playing with and such threats affect credit scores etc. They are a disgusting company with 0 customer service skills and seriously avoid them at all cost.

When I ordered the broadband, they pestered and pestered me with emails and messages that I should make sure I had the router ready for the engineer to install. When he arrived, he told me he wasn't supposed to install it and I should do it myself.
When I got going, I found that I had only restricted access to the internet. I complained, and they told me that "Kids Safe" was implemented on my account. I'm considerably in excess of 6 years old. They would not remove it, and gave me long instructions as to how I should do this myself, including changing my internet browser if necessary. I'm really hacked off with them.
