I have waited six weeks to have broadband installed and it just hasn't happened. Two engineers have come to the house (and one just didn't arrive) and not done the work and then I've received messages saying they weren't able to because I was out. The helpline is anything but helpful, they put you on hold while they speak to openreach and then tell you wrong information. You then get passed from person to person, again, with wrong information being shared so you spend most of the call correcting people. There is nothing about TalkTalk and the service they provide that I would recommend to others. I eventually filed a formal complaint only to be told this would be closed when I told them I would be going to another provider. DO NOT USE THEM.

I became a customer in may 2021 and was instantly unhappy with the poor broadband quality especially as I was going courses and work online at the time. At the time a paid for a good wireless 4G and would hotspot that as I didn't want to pay the 200+ pound severance fee and my complaints were falling on deaf ear.

Something which I can't do anymore
As now a year later due to a current unplanned poor financial situation I can't pay my bills. WiFi is the least important so it's the one I keep deferring on so I keep having to pay late payment fees as I can't pay this on time as my rent, electric and gas take precedence. Yet if I want to cancel it will cost me 70 pounds! A sum I can't afford! Not only is the quality of my WiFi absolutely abhorrent not worth 5 quad a month let alone 24! But I can't even cancel it because I can't afford to but because I can't afford to do so it will end up costing me even more in monthly payments and late payment fees! Truly feel like talktalk is talking advantage of their poorer customers. I want to maintain my credit score and want to not have to defer on my payment by cancelling yet I can't afford to so I will anyway and their is nothing I can do about it!

I have rung them multiple times to explain my situation but they very much don't care if they understand what I'm saying at all from their call centre god knows where and they just want their money.

I am moving in October so I was going to have to cancel then anyway so I decided to terminate now and pay the termination fee in installments.

This whole experience has taught me a lesson however check reviews before starting a contract somewhere and be wary of long-term contracts as one doesn't know what the future holds. I didn't know I was going to be in this situation last year. I wasn't rich by any means but a year ago I could pay all my bills and food with minimal budgeting which is no longer the case.

I implore anyone that makes enough to live but not to save as I was a year ago to not get comfortable and to plan for the worst. It is something I regret now and I will definitely plan for for the rest of my life!

Moving home is stressful enough with out having to deal with the constant lies of TalkTalk.
This is how my home move has gone so far:

11/8 - Called to advise of house move and that I would be in the new property on 22/8. Call handler explicitly stated that my ‘go live date’ would be that day and gave no indication it could change as he had spoken with Openreach and they had confirmed this.(Lie number 1)

16/8 Confirmation email informed me that my go live date was actually 31/8. I called the customer services where a man said there had been a duplicate order and that by cancelling the duplicate, I would still have the go live date of 22/8. (Lie number 2). He also told me to ‘make sure I wear my wonderful smile’, for which he can go and do one, I called for broadband not advice on my face.

On 19/8, following a further confirmation email of the go live date now being 31/8, I phoned to complain (not about the go live date because that’s an Openreach problem) about being lied to. I was told that I had not been lied to. (Lie number 3 and to be honest, a little gaslighty for my tastes).

On 31/8 I used the chat function on the website to confirm that I would still be connected, given that there is industrial action involving Openreach. I was told, by ‘Angelica’ that that this would not affect me as I didn’t need an engineer and the line activation would be done remotely. I asked her to clarify this because I had waited a further 9 days after my house move, specifically for an engineer to turn my service on at the local box. She reiterated that I didn’t need one and my service will be activated by midnight. (Lie number 4)

1/9 I called as, predictably, lie number 4 was confirmed and we have no broadband. The call handler confirmed that I didn’t yet have broadband because of industrial action from Openreach and that I needed an engineer to come a turn on the service. My new go live date is 5/9. Let’s see if that happens.

I don’t expect TalkTalk to refund the couple of thousand in lost wages between my partner and I due to lack of service, nor the exorbitant extra mobile data we’ve had to purchase because we know they won’t. They cannot even get the basics right.

They are liars, gas lighters and totally incompetent.

I would recommend they be totally avoided.

Where do I start?? I have been with Talktalk business for over 2.5 years.
I visited my bank on Monday the 30th of July at 4pm and informed them that I wish to close my account as I have opened a new account at a different bank.

On Tuesday the the 31st of July at 9am while I was at a business meeting I was called by my staff to come back to office as the internet was not active.
When I returned to office I noticed the account is suspended so I immediately made the payment online using a debit card.
When I checked the account I was surprised o find out the payment was not even due until the 1st of August.
We as a web design company rely on Internet connection and while our internet connection was suspended I had to pay wages to my staffs (4 people) for 4 hours and 10 minutes doing nothing, Cancel my business meeting and drive 30miles to be back in the office and fix the issue, spend 1 hour 45 minutes of my time chatting online to Talktalk customer service, Speaking to different departments over the phone trying to restore the service while my payment was not even due.

**** Im setting up a website about talktalk business and how rubbish their customer service is so please help me with your experience and evidence ************************

Talk Talk constantly go down and they are super unhelpful! We pay for 27MBPS and we actually get about 4MBPS according to every broadband speed checker apart from theirs which always say theres no problems (unsurprisingly). Talk Talk is by far the most unreliable and unhelpful broadband weve ever been with. I’m writing this review through my mobile data because my internet is shockingly down. Easily twice a month it will go down. Ive just rang to cancel and the rude lady with ZERO customer service skills didn’t like it when i told her all this and told her I've just joined BT with a speed guarantee. Avoid at all cost!

Internet goes off every 10 mins, customer service staff dont know what they are talking about and can not even speak English we told them we needed a engineer and they said no there is nothing wrong with the line at last we got a engineer out he said there is a fault with the line, phoned back up they still insisted there is nothing wrong also tried charging us £50 for engineer coming out.

They told us we would be getting no less then 7.5 Mbps we are not even getting 5 Mbps, we told them they had broke there T&C but they said there will be a £9 charge per month left on the contract so we told them to canal it and we will pay the money (total of £66)

PERFECT COMPANY OF YOU LIKE YOUR INTERNET CUTTING OFF EVERY 10 MINS

Pay that bit more and go with a good company.!!!!!!!

Rubbish. Utterly rubbish. Terrible for gaming. I literally am winning in an arena on one of my favorite games and boom. TalkTalk hits me with their reliability, which is next to none and I start lagging so hard for the next 2 minutes, I come back and my whole team is dead. Some days I can't play at all because TalkTalk is just so slow. They say, "We'll gradually be adjusting your speed over the next 10 days so your connection might be intermittent-this is normal." Almost two months later, it's still intermittent and heavily unreliable. I suggest you dont' get this.

The broadband performs adequately, but I could write an essay on their lack of customer services and 'useability' - Talk Talk are insistant that I am a middle aged woman to whom they always wish to speak and repeat the same questions over and over without listening at all. I have been paying them for my internet since the dial up days. It is not my error. I am still (a 37 year old man) called Mrs Jean on their emails.

This company is simply the worst, It doesnt even deserve the 1 star out of 5. Talktalk should be ashamed of the horrible services they provide, i'm highly disappointed. Delay in go live date, broadband router not received. I have no idea what they do. They hang up on calls and waste hours telling fake stories on the chat and call. It was rated the worst broadband in 2021 and I totally agree, and they are headed that way this year(2022) too. 'With an overall customer satisfaction score of just 77%, TalkTalk was rated the worst broadband provider in Ofcom's 2021 annual report.' <--- from google. This is a horrible broadband service provider. Be warned! You will Thank Me later. AVOIDDDDD talktalk if you wanna avoid stress and an empty bank account!!!

The Worst provider I've ever had to deal with. If i tried to stream anything, the WiFi drops and router resets. Customer service said the line and router was fine. They reset it manually from there end and said it was fixed. It wasn't at all. Spoke to someone again 30 minutes later and they said I!!!! Would have to pay for an engineer as it looks like I've done something. Which is ridiculous.they refused to send out a new router. So I swiftly cancelled my contract blaming poor customer serice and the fact they have been hacked 3 times in the last 5 years. Stay away from such a poor company that claim to be one of the best.

I have regretted joining talk talk. I have been having problems with my internet for a couple of days and nobody at talk talk is able to solve the issue. An engineer was sent over to my house only to tell me it has escalated and BT needs to fix it. Very poor service. Never will I advice anyone to join talk talk. Very unsatisfied and angry. Definitely not worth it

I was told my go live date would be 20th april and they would let me know if there was any issues that would change this date... no one let me know. I call and was told someone would ring me back in 2 days on 25th april... that caller then told me there was a problem with a cable (the other 10 members of my building have talk talk and no issues with cabling there?) and that someone would call me on 27th april to let me know 'how its going'.. someone else then called me and said this date had moved to 2nd may when someone would call me... then I got an email to say someone would call me on 5th may... absolute joke I work from home and this has caused major problems, customer service was shockingly bad.. just told them Im leaving because of the reason above.. no apology whatsoever just 'okay we'll cancel and you can go to BT'.

I endured 18 months of dodgy connection, poor speeds and horrendous customer service. At the end of the contract agreed to switch to PlusNet. TalkTalk phoned a week later, said they'd offer me an unbeatable deal and did, and also said they'd contact PlusNet to cancel my application for me (The rep's name was Adam), and all seemed well. I plugged in the new router I received and had very fast internet for one day, the day following i was cut off. Apparently no one had contacted PlusNet to cancel the application, so i spent 4 hours on the phone to 5 different reps, until the last one who actually helped and said that i needed to call PlusNet to cancel the application. I proceeded to do that, although that took over an hour too. Phoned Talktalk back afterwards and confirmed the "cease" had been enacted. They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn't connect to the line so i'd have to run a new application and they weren't sure when i'd get internet back up and running at home. Now, in the grand scheme of things at the moment, this is very minor. But it still warrants a 1 star review as they should be providing a service and not false promises.

0 Star, Broadband cuts out every 10 mins and the customer service is just as bad they keep you on the line for hours and then tell you they can no find any fault with the line, asked them to send a engineer out they said it will be a £50 charge.

Well I have just learnt the hard way about TalkTalks terrible broadband service. I rang up on the 5th of December to let them know i was moving into a new property on the 16th, so it was confirmed they would cancel current internet on 15th and new house would be live on 16th. Received confirmation of my go live date. Well suprise suprise it wouldnt connect as it isn't activated. Now I have to wait until the 22nd so I'm currently paying for nothing. Terrible service, do NOT go with them. Go somewhere else!

Didn't even make it to being a customer. Placed order to coincide with moving date, then needed to change installation date at moving date changed and that's when it all went wrong ... absolute appalling service. I was lied to, offered no help, unable to resolve .. totally unhelpful even after going thru complaints depart. And now having to wait 28 days to get money back - quick enough to take it. Avoid at all costs. Lovely sales service but appalling after care!

Thought I should leave a review as all the ones I'm reading are negative. Coming up to the end of an 18 month contract with TalkTalk and it has worked superbly throughout. Speeds are as advertised for my area, and dropouts I can probably count on one hand.

After countless phonecalls and issues with my connection to the broadband it still hasn't been resolved, they have sent an engineer out because my internet randomly cut out at 5am in the morning and now charging me £50 to send the engineer out, they cut my line off and after a very painful phonecall they turned my internet back on but it's been nothing but issues (my router is working fine and they're saying there's an issue with my router) so I've tried 3 different routers and they're all doing the same thing, my internet just randomly turns off every 5 minutes for atleast 2 minutes, I have more downtime then I do uptime they say they're here to help but they're just money grabbing pieces of **** like the majority of companies out there. Be very careful when signing up with talktalk because they'll milk you for what you've got.
    Regards.

I had to cancel my account due to a sudden and dramatic rodent infestation which caused me to leave the apartment that I was renting. Talktalk kept billing me despite my many attempts to cancel my account, they then made me wait a year, would occasionally start billing me again. I'd contact them desperately trying to cancel, only to be met with contradictions or arrogance across the phone. I have spent 10+ hours on the phone, and I've sent 60+ emails. I'm no closer to cancelling my account then I was when I started.

Do not use talktalk, ever. Like, seriously, use another company. Talktalk's operation is closer to a scam than a reputable company.

Honest review hoping other late 20's mid 30's gamers will see.

Myself and a friend both living in different post codes in Edinburgh joined talktalk. We both received HALF the MG we were paying for which was carefully monitored throughout our 12 contract by both of us .

We have had a year of horror and have both cancelled our contracts and now have to wait until the next provider take overs. During this time our MB has gone to record lows.

We don't have hard evidence to suggest that both of our speeds have dropped to new lows because we have dropped in service priority but we are currently collecting the data to show we both currently average 7MB.

To put that into perspective it means that we can get around 120 seconds of online gaming before we lose connection.

Customer services guys i feel sorry for because they are put on the firing line.

I've never had such poor broadband. Constantly dropping out, speeds when it does work are slow and their response was to send out a new and improved router...... which has actually made things worse!
I was attracted to TalkTalk by the cheap prices, but I should have stuck to the more expensive one I was with before that worked well.

My aunty had an issue where she has forgotten the password and email address to her talk talk account as it was made so long ago, she answered all the other questions correctly only these two she forgot she could not pass security and they had no alternative options of resetting it until she finds these details they said. Complete joke every company has an alternative option and can use other security data questions to get into the account as all she wanted to do was cancel her broadband. The people on the phone were no help what so ever spoke to 5 different departments and go no where in the end decided to have a chat from their website live chat only reasonable person was Asanda who kindly explained that we should try to find these details on letters we recieved in the beggining when we set up which was (7 years ago) and then explained that if we cannot find it we can call a number to help us. She was very kind and great better than anyone on the phone. On the phone it feels like you repeat yourself or speak to robots. Rubbish company, rubbish service DO NOT RECOMMEND

Do not touch Talk Talk. I moved house in November, they tried to get an engineer out to connect me who couldmy do it. They arranged another visit for two weeks later, I took a day off work and waited for the engineer who never turned up, I then get a call from talk talk asking why I missed appointment. I told them I didn't, they then said the next date is two weeks time. All through the process I paying loads of money calling them with no one helping and many people putting the phone down on me. I finally get it fixed, I was going to officially complain but they make it such a task couldn't be bothered. Two mothers later I think it's all sorted I am charged for a miss callout which is £50. I call them to explain hoping they would have notes, told by a manger that there is nothing that they can do but will make a complaint in my behalf.

Absolute joke. The worst customer service I've ever received and if I leave them I would.

After over 3 years of hassle and bad service, and after giving TalkTalk numerous opportunities to sort out their bad service, I terminated my account 7 weeks ago. Since then I've been inundated with phone calls, emails etc stating that I have to pay them £214 for having cancelled the contract early.... A contract that I did not agree to and was not aware of!! Over the 3 years I've suffered at the hands of Talktalk I've had umpteen engineer visits, wasted hours and hours of my precious time, had dozens of phone calls and email exchanges and wasted over £1500 after being told the problems were due to my PC, Laptop or smart TV.... All three of which were replaced at my expense only to find that the broadband issues were STILL there!
Talktalk are now hassling me on a DAILY basis. I have told them not to ring me, and to email or send letters, but STILL they keep ringing and making threats! This has caused me so much stress and I am at the end of my tether. I will not be paying them £214 for terminating a contract that I was not aware I had entered into, and in my opinion, they have breached their own contract for not providing a service that I was paying for! I am furious!! They even rang me TWICE today....Easter Sunday!!

To be honest doesn't even deserve the 1 star. I find they add payments, I call to question about added fees and they invent stuff up to justify ta king the payment, for example I had a charge of 2 62 fast broad band from 11th -14th Feb (I unplugged my modem to avoid the charges) I call and they say it's not that it's because of payment change. Very unclear and very unprofessional. I had better service in malta with melita and belive me they are **** but you would think uk would have their **** together. Very poor not worth the hassel and definitely not worth them taking more money with no understandable explanation

Seems that every time I ring up to complain about my slow connection speeds, they magically speed up again, for about 2 weeks. Then the cycle repeats.

If I don't get some kind of conpensation I will be livid, I'm not one to normally complain but this company is a joke, if I were you I would go with the next cheapest provider because these ******* are seriously not worth it!!!!! Talk talk is totally crap! There customer service via the online chat or phone call is shocking! They are rude and just want to pass you onto someone else ASAP.
I was in a 18 month internet tv contract which after 15 months they put the price up month on month for three months until I was paying £15 more than I originally was paying the only rise I was notified about was for the tv which was terrible the box I had to change 4 times as it kept breaking or freezing. They added on charges for the landline telephone which I never wanted but was part of the package and was told I had to have. Over all I only went with them as at the time Sky and Virgin didn’t cover my area and BT is expensive but other than the internet being okay most of the time the rest is crap. My advice is if you’re just after internet for under £20 and will never complain to anyone working for Talk talk then go for it but if you want TV and other stuff stay well clear

I have been with Talk Talk for 13 months now, and apart from the odd disconnection which was normally resolved by a restart of the router, did not have anything to complain about with the download speed and internet service.

HOWEVER, skip to Sunday 10th January the internet went down, and it has not come back since at the time of this review. That is when everything unravelled. This is where you learn the money you save is on customer service and reliability.

I have wasted hours of my life attempting to contact Talk Talk to find out what was going on. It started with a twitter representative saying the issue would be fixed within 72 hours. This then turned in to the next representative telling me that actually 72 hours is the minimum time it takes to get fixed. This then developed into approximately 15 phone calls, twitter contact, the chat function (when on the odd occasion is available on their website) being told that an Openreach engineer has been booked in for tomorrow, contact Talk Talk the day after, and repeat.

Now I will say that they have informed me Openreach are the ones to fix it, which is why it can be perfectly reasonable for Talk Talk not to be blamed, if only for the fact that Talk Talk have lied to me on several occasions on when it will be fixed, cannot confirm when it will be fixed, what the problem is, nor a timeframe of when anything can be expected.

Ultimately the problem is two fold. 1. I have no idea whether the information they provide to me is true or whether it is a lie, or even whether anyone is doing anything about it. 2. Talk Talk clearly doesn't want to do anything past the absolute minimum to help get my internet back up.

In addition to these problems, I made a formal complaint in light of the above. I was told a manager would contact me the next day - this did not happen and I had to chase this up. They then did book in a time for me to be spoken to, only to provide no further information or no further level of care. I was then told they would book in a further call two days later to update me on the situation (text received to confirm this) only for halfway through the allotted time a text to simply change the date of call to two days later, and then no call to be found then either. When I complained about this to Talk Talk, they said they had try to call. I had no missed call and no voicemail so LIES!!

I am now switching to a different service as unfortunately I feel I have no other avenue to go down. This is a long review but please take note, because when it goes wrong nobody seems to give a damn.

3 weeks in and have been able to connect twice, with speeds over under 1mb against their advertised minimum of 6. Cannot cancel until 28 days apparently. Spent over 6 hours on the phone in total with them

Had broadband with Tesco originally until it was taken over by Talktalk and had no end of problems since. Contacting them at least once a month and have to go through the same conversation and do the same checks every time then it works for a few weeks then it's the same thing again either very slow or won't connect at all. As I work I find it hard to make time to contact them and sort these issues out and certainly don't expect to have to do it every month. I've gone nearly 2 weeks without it working properly and my daughter has had to complete important school work else where and this last time I've contacted them thy have said it could take upto 10 days to stabilise! So will definitely be disputing my bill. Unsure if the problem is my area but I don't get what I pay for so am now in the process of moving to another provider.
