Ok, so I posted a honest review yesterday of the utterly abysmal and unbelievably terrible service that I have received from TalkTalk over the passed 11 months... I am within my final days of their terrible grasp and will feel a sense of relief when my broadband and line provider is finally switched.
After posting my original review yesterday I received a response from a TalkTalk employee claiming that TalkTalk are very sorry that I have had such a bad experience with the firm and that it is not the companies intention to provide such an unacceptable and unprofessional level of customer service.
The reply then continued to recommend that I contact one of the TalkTalk team via “Twitter" of all things!!...
The assumption that I would have a “Twitter" account is in itself presumptuous and then for TalkTalk to expect me to chase them up regarding a poor service which they delivered to me and I paid for is beyond ludicrous!!
TalkTalk should be going out of THEIR way to contact its ever growing list of wronged and abused customers, they should be the one to make things right and they should be the one looking to improve their service.
This is blatantly not the case as within the 24 hours since posting my initial review, numerous other TalkTalk customers have posted similar reviews to mine stating that they too have received poor customer care and broadband service and are very unhappy with the firm in general.
The lack of customer care and consumer satisfaction that TalkTalk continue to provide shows no remorse or intention to better their service and judging from other reviews that go back several years, TalkTalk have never been expected to provide their customers with a viable service or a shred of human dignity.
I once again strongly implore all members of the public to avoid dealing with this firm. They are not providers they are takers.
If they cannot offer better than a generic response to contact their “Twitter" staff after repeatedly mistreating and effectively robbing their customers, then they have no place operating as a consumer business and deserve a thorough investigation from an independent regulator.
My suggestion to those who have been left slightly poorer and slightly more dehumanised by the thoughtless and greed-driven actions of TalkTalk and any other corporate firm for that matter, is to contact a regulator such as Ofcom and notify them of the service (or lack of) that you have been given.
This is possibly one of the most effective ways to have underperforming firms investigated and made to improve their services to meet the quality and standards that are initially promised to customers and that everyone should expect.
I will be surprised if TalkTalk respond to this review with anything that would genuinely resolve the issue however if any attempt is made by the firm to better this situation then I will update my post.

Despite the horrific reviews, we had to choose Talktalk as no other provider served in our area. We have been consistently impressed with the customer service we have received and can only deduce that they have upped their game. The setup was extremely quick and efficient, the broadband has only gone once in six months and they fixed it within an hour, and their online Live Chat function is brilliant and run by people that know what they're doing. We understand they have a reputation for poor customer service and reliability but, unless we've been extraordinary lucky with our engineers and agents, we are fairly sure they've made some big changes for the better.

If I could give less than zero, I would. Internet has been terrible, considering the costs they levy. Can't have more than one page open at a time while browsing the internet otherwise nothing loads; videos are a massive drag; connection keeps dropping to prevent downloads-- everything has been terrible.
Complained of trouble with the line and they sent out a technician, who 'found no faults'. Connection was still bad so I complained again, and after a line check (performed from their office, apparently) turns out there is a problem. It wasn't fixed. Problems have still been happening for the past six months.
Performed a broadband speed check recently. Pings varied between 1500-6000; download speeds were 4.5; didn't stay connected long enough to perform an upload check.
Currently moving house, all options pretty much force you to take the service with you. Was given the impression of being able to pay a one-off 'early cancellation fee' for ending the contract early, but internet has to be inactive for a month (and you still have to pay the bill for when you're not using it). So cancellation fee + bills for unused services = frustration.
I'd give more for customers service because they're all still people, but they're given awful guidelines to follow that makes the whole experience worse.

Talk Talk scam !! Beware,
I changed my broadband to Talk Talk last December. I have not passed on my new home phone number to anybody, only talk talk knows it. I have since deleted 20 missed calls, then another 23 , looked tonight and there are another 17. I have answered about 6. These are scam callers who say there is a problem with your broadband and they want you to run a diagnostic test on your laptop. What they do is install a piece of software that they can use to access your laptop, then want you to log on to your bank to give you a refund but then they steal your money because they can see your login details.Talk talk are aware of this but the scam continues. Please let all your friends and family know, especially the elderly who are more vulnerable and think something is actually wrong. Cancel talk talk as your provider as information is being leaked of new customers. Talk Talk are doing nothing !!!! Please share.

Had talk talk some years ago. Got behind on payments. They sent me a bill with x amount owed, so rang up to pay. The amount quoted was more than the one on the bill. Couldnt get anywhere. Told them i will pay the bill when i get proof of the correct amount. Never heard anything. Next a letter from a debt collection agency, different amount again. Rang them and told them what had happened. They said they would look into it.A few weeks later got a letter saying. That as Talk talk couldnt agree on a figure the debt would be written off.

I discovered recently I was mis-sold a two year contract. When I gave notice to leave, call centre South Africa informed me of this situation. Never do I sign two year contracts for telecoms.I'd no confirmation of this contract either by email or post upon checking my records. Once they discovered I'd no contract, one came by post 7 months later.I returned this with appropriate comments.Monitoring the broadband speeds - one day at midday DL was 0.5, 17.15 that day 3.67.I found it pointless complaining to technical services after the first time I tried. I think that was maybe India. I've noticed since I changed provider scam calls on my landline have stopped. When I complained about scam calls on my landline through live chat the response was unbelievable.Someone must be intercepting my post and getting my number! My online account has also been closed. Before all this debacle I emailed Tristia Harrison CEO who has only been in position since May2017. No response. You can read between the lines about how the company has been performing as Charles Dunstone has come back into the fold. My mobile SIM only contract for a year was with them. A price increase occurred in August this year before the contract was due to expire.I could write a book about the poor service provided by TalkTalk. I'll now await the less than desirable letters saying I owe them money.

TalkTalk are a bunch of incompetent, lying, untrustworthy, thieving buffoons. Broadband was absolutely shocking dropping to speeds of 0.05Mb, rendering the internet and on demand TV useless. It only ever peaked at 2.4Mb every now and again. Speaking to their Indian based call centre and tech team was a waste of time. I was informed over the phone that my speed should be 5Mb and that they could get it to this. They then carried out tests and informed me that they had done all the diagnostics and tests that they could possibly do and that my broadband was as good as it will ever get. They then went on to say that TalkTalk are unable to do anything else to improve my Broadband. Funnily enough though, the recording of this call was 'unavailable' when asked to provide it to the Ombudsman. Because of this, I have no proof that I complained about my speeds dropping to 0.05Mb all that time ago and no evidence that they had said there was nothing more TalkTalk could do. If you deal with TalkTalk, insist that everything is in writing and keep records. I did this when it came to dealing with my remaining mobile phone contract and let me tell you, they really don't like having to deal with customers in writing and still try to phone instead, despite requesting email or letters. Wonder why that is! I have now switched supplier and am enjoying speeds far greater and more stable than they could ever supply. We're talking speeds up in the double figures. Want my advice, stay well away from them!

I was with TalkTalk for a whole year with no problems and would have happily recommend it. However once we moved to a new home problems started. I phoned about a month before movingto see when I could get the internet moved and a new modem set up. I was told the earliest would be a week after we moved in and I thought ok. A week before they call me to let me know the engineer has been pushed back several days. That was the first sign.
It comes to installation day and I take a day off work to wait for the engineer who was supposed to come between 8 and 1. He never arrived. I phoned the customer service around 1:30 and they told me that i could just do it myself and no engineer was needed, despite the several texts, calls amd reminder emails telling me otherwise.
It is set up and works fine for two days before it goes off completely. So i spend most of the day troubleshooting myself and using guides to try and solve, I then finally call custmer support. For several hours I chatted with this man who made me go through all the steps I had already done. By the end of it he says he has no idea and will need to send an engineer round. I ask when will that be and he tells me it would be neary 3 weeks.
That would be a full month in our new home without internet which is outrageous and worst of all when I asked if would still be getting a bill at the end of the month for a service I was not getting he said yes. I then asked to be transferred t a manager who was very hesitant to help and didn’t really seem capable of much but he was polite. Despite complaints nothing could be done and id be down a month of internet with a possibility of compensation at the end, but not toll after it was fixed.
I called another company who was able to install a new fibre line within 3 days of my phoning for the same price and better speed.
Took me 4 calls to cancel my service, twice the call was cut off and the third the woman claimed the cancellation service was down and id have to call back. Absolutely terrible service and would rather have no internet than deal with the stress of phoning the custmer helpline ever again. Truly horrible

Absolutely dire internet dial up in the 90s is faster than talk talk. engineer came to install the internet and didnt bother to put a plug in the wall next to the tv, he decided to put an extention plug in the hallway which run across the floor. plus our tv box doesnt connect to the internet and our ps4 takes 40 mins to download a 500mb update...going back to virgin i think.

Shocking. Installation engineer missed 2 appointments broadband not working so cancelled. Service didnt even start after over a month. Called and cancelled, have been waiting around 2 months for my refund which has been rejected several times even though they are putting it through! Stay far far away, painful customer service which takes a ridiculous amount of time to solve minor issues. Awful company

Couldn't wait to leave talk talk. Worst broadband connection and speed ever. Price fixing was a joke, my bill was higher every month. Customer service was shocking when you could understand them. Charging 50 pounds for a call out charge when i was told it would be free. I'm now with sky and very happy. Avoid talk talk at all costs...

So wish I could leave a no star rating for talk talk. Been with them for 2 and a half years the first year was great so took out another 12 months with them, had a few problems but I hardly used the Wi-Fi anyway but got a job where I had to use my computer a lot for work and then I noticed how bad it was, dissconecting every 5 minutes. Was on the phone every day regarding me internet, had this problem for 6 months. awful customer service so hard to understand any of them on a good day. So had enough at this point rang up to cancel me internet, at this point it's been over 2 years so wasn't under contract. Then got told I signed another contract for this year which I never and have to pay to leave.

Customer service with TalkTalk is horrible. Over an hour on the line with them to attempt a move home, being bounced around to different call centers, only to be told to call back 3-5 business days later. These people are useless.

Well thank you very much for waking me up at 7am on a Saturday with a rude cold caller agent claiming it was critical that I speak with him. I asked to speak to his manager which was refused despite numerous requests and then he put the phone down. Yeah that really sold talk talk to me.

The worst internet experience I have ever had. I had a persisting issue for over 8 weeks where my internet dropped out up to 67 times a day, 2 of their BrightSpark engineers and 2 OpenReach engineers could not fix it. I managed to get out of their contract early without a termination charge and swapped to BT who remotely reset the line via webchat and solved the issue TalkTalk could not fix. I swapped to them for their cheap internet and it certainly was cheap and tacky, previously I was with Sky but their prices were extorionate but the internet was fine with them. I only spent about 4 months with TalkTalk overall... So much frustration, anger, anxiety and sadness with them, all I got compensated was about 30 pounds.

Seen so many people that are quick to leave a terrible review when they are having issues but not so fast to leave a good one when happy. I made the move to TalkTalk from BT cutting my bill down by almost 2/3. The speed is exactly what they promised and I am so happy with my choice even though I was hesitant due to the bad reviews. Great service!!

So. The horror story with Talktalk
I've been a customer of theirs now for a few years. So my contract ran out september 2014 and much to my pleasure I rang up March of this year to cancel because I was moving house.
They weren't having any of it. So they said it was cancelled and theyd call me back but didn't. I figured i was done with them. Had my last bill through of £60 and paid it with no worry. Next month another bill was debited from my account. So I rang up and Apparantly it hadn't been cancelled at all. So I did it again and the man I spoke to said it had been cancelled. No more bills hooray!
.Next month another bill. Was not happy. So I rang again and they said it hadn't been done still! So I put the request in again!
Now to my last birthday. An email came through and now I owed them £120 !!!!
So I rang them on my birthday. Was on the phone for 45 minutes where they just cut me off. So I repeated this process for the same amount of the time. All the security questions again. The man I spoke to went through all the past phone recordings and said it should be cancelled. So all the money I had paid would be credited to me (because my mobile is with them also) and I wouldn't have a bill for months.
Anyway that night I got a bill through for £70 extra for the calls to them to sort out their mess, which was taken from me the next day before I could sort it. No credit nothing.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Edit. Still trying to get out of paying for my mobile now. I've cancelled the direct debit so they will not be getting any money out of me ever again.

I have used Virgin and Sky broadband services which were both good services, Virgin was superior to Sky but Sky was slightly cheaper, Talktalk however is slightly cheaper and pretty much useless, streaming video cuts off regularly, online gaming is impossible as the connection is so bad that servers eject you for lagging out every five minutes and the customer service is atrocious and outsourced to India every time I've called. Overall the worst service I've used. Do not use Talktal. The television service is also inferior to Sky and Virgin Media in a menagerie of ways.

Worst service ever - prepaid for 12 months with an introductory discount moved house and the discount seized.
Now talk talk want to charge me a monthly fee because I have moved. I have spent 2.5 hours on the online chat to India and still don't have a solution. I have also written to them on the 13/6/16 and had no reply. All the advisors do is read from a script - useless and robbing people blind avoid talk talk at all costs

Since the first few weeks of changing to talktalk I have had connection issues. I’m now two weeks with little or no broadband and I keep getting fobbed off with “an engineer is on their way”. Working from home isn’t possible at the moment and good old crimbo with two kids is a pain without broadband. Go to BT, at least they have a backup 4g option.

Infuriating!!! After signing up nearly a year ago, and having intermittent broadband on most days, appalling customer services (typically spending over an hour each call) with no resolution after multiple calls. I am pulling my hair out. Call centre seems to be India with sunny personalities reading from a script, not listening or being helpful ultimately. I escalated to senior manager on several occasions, but to no avail. Stay away from Talktalk is my advice!

Let me tell you about my experience with Talktalk: I work as a doctor and part of my job is done remotely, surely fibre connection of relatively good speed is necessary for me. I recently moved to a new building of 2 floors and approx,10 apartments within M25 area. The address I declared in the conversation was in format: Flat X, 1 Y, Z postcode. It was possibly recorded by talktalk as Flat X, 1Z - such an apartment doesn't exist, the building does and is 5 min walk from mine, mine has a separate name and flat numbers, unlike any others. Overall what I mean it is difficult to confuse the buildings.
I am certain I recorded the address correctly - I got my eero device from Talktalk via Yodel company.
So when I spoke in the middle of August to the representative, I was told my internet will be ready for me to use it on 31 August the latest, but possibly sooner.I was told in the initial agreement when direct debit was set up that the engineer will come to my building. I was aware and made talktalk aware there is already their Box in the building -one of the neighbours uses their services. I had no confirmation of such a visit from an engineer and on 31 August I was told my internet is operational. I called talktalk helpline and spent 3 hrs trying to locate devices they told me about in the building, I was assured engineers would come until the end of the day (never happened and they have not been booked). Eventually, it was discovered the box was installed in a completely different building (not even a neighbour).I was put to the complaints department, where I was told I would have call from the manager on 5 September. That didn't happen. I used chat again and was notified that I would get call from the manager on 7 September. That didn't happen. When I contacted them again the same unhelpful agent started to lie/gaslight me that no such thing was declared to me and that I didn't understand what they said. In response, I presented screenshots I have been keeping of every exchange I had with them, in the end he refused to provide date of a managerial call. Meantime I have no access to the internet, I can't work in public places due to confidentiality issues and I don't have the ability to secure separate quiet clinic area outside my regular hours. So overall I lose remuneration, patients lose care and talktalk stays happy not providing internet and invoicing me.The whole situation is extremely stressful and as I already work under huge pressure, have to deal and spend hours (overall approx 7) trying to convince someone to take a simple action. I was told managers won't speak to me as they are not front desk workers. I was told that I can't make more than one complaint when I wanted to complain about how my complaint was being handled (I was misled twice and was in expectation of managerial call as declared by their staff). I obviously have screenshots of conversations I had with them proving what I say. If the national healthcare system worked like talktalk in my case, you would get a stranger's surgery and and a shaman for consolation. update 1: on 08/09/23 I got a mail asking me to assess how a call from TalkTalk went, This call never happened, there have been no unanswered calls and no voicemail. After that email I feel inspired to post this story whenever I can.
Update 2: representatives from this site writing PM me for assistance: obviously I PMed them, gave my complaint number, on 11/09/2023 was told that there will be a call on 12/09/2023 between 4-6PM. Obviously nothing happened. This was 4th time I was misled about a call and x-th time somebody in the company declared something that didn't happen
Update 3. It is now 12/09/2023 I have now been charged 40GBP for nothing, as no service was provided whatsoever, what am I paying for ??? I tried to contest the payment, only to learn that it can only happen to debited accounts. The automatic payment was set up upon joining talktalk. I feel my customers rights have been abused left and right. I am now willing to share my story with everyone who will listen!

Leaving my previous broadband/tv/phone provider to go to TALKTALK was one of biggest mistakes ever. People say you get what you pay for.... I shouldn’t be paying anything based on current experiences. In fact I should be paid to
Put up with this awful service they provide. The internet and TV is the worst I have ever had. On a weekly basis I have to turn my WiFi and tv off and on. WiFi is horrendously slow. Tv constantly ‘sticks’ resulting in me resetting the box and I can’t really comment on the phone line because I barely use
It.
When I first took out the contract, the broadband was really
Slow. When I phoned and complained 3 Months into the contract they said to increase the download speed and things should be better - it’s no better AT ALL and I ended up starting a new contract with them. It’s been the longest contract ever and I cannot wait to get rid. 90% of the tv I watch pauses and skips when I’m watching. It doesn’t record programmes properly - only recording 5 mins of a film one evening and then recording another 5 mins of it when it was repeated a few nights later.
I’ve never EVER experienced anything like this with other providers and now realise that it’s worth paying that bit extra to get better services.
Do not go near this company!!!!

This was honestly the worst experience I've ever had with an internet provider - avoid at all costs.
I signed up for fibre, turns out there isn't actually any fibre in my area but they let me pay for it anyway. When I called ask if the internet could be fixed, I spent an hour on the phone only to be told that nothing could be done and they would escalate the issue. I phoned back a few days later (as I had heard nothing), and was told that actually no one escalated anything. Spent another hour on the phone, eventually got so angry I asked to cancel it. They told me no problem, everything was cancelled, all good. I didn't hear anything after that for a few days, so I called back again, and lo and behold, nothing had been cancelled. What had actually been done was they had "escalated my issue", which meant I couldn't actually cancel my services. This was bringing me dangerously close to the cooling off period being over, and so I was furious. I asked to lodge a complaint and speak to a manager, which didn't help anything - if anything, some of the lower down call centre staff were more helpful than the managers. It seems like everything they are doing is to try and keep me on contract until my cooling off period is over. I honestly have never had such terribly inefficient customer service or internet service in my life. Avoid at all costs.

Been with talk talk for many years. Recently price increased due to end of contract. Offered better price if upgrade to faster fibre. When we did slow speed. Line test showed fault. Engineer booked but didn't come.Waited in all afternoon. On calling they said engineer came but couldn't gain access. They charged £30 for missed appointment although we WERE in. Feel as though I have to prove I was in my own home. Terribly disappointing customer service for a loyal customer? will get out as soon as I can. Avoid at all costs!

Owing to slow broadband services we complained to TalkTalk. Their response was to send us an unrequested pack for TV, which we had to return and no broadband improvement! Also our bill charged us for unrequested and unused TV services-adding insult to injury!
As further phone calls failed to secure an improvement in broadband we decided to move to BT. The changeover was carried out by BT on 27 August. We received a bill after this by direct debit. IN October 2014 we received a bill for £137 stating this was for total new charges. When I rang Talktalk they stated it was for breakage of contract. On checking the account online, I can find no details of start of contract. The terms and conditions mention a minimum contract period but there is no clarity as to what constitutes a minimum time when breakage payment falls due.
At present I have refused to pay this as it arrived 5 weeks after the changeover to BT and I can find no reference to a 'contract' and 'breakage fee'.
Has anybody else experienced this?
