I've been most unsatisfied with Utilities Warehouse. Our energy bills doubled after having a smart meter fitted with no explaination as to why there was such an increase and the reliability of our broadband was shocking so we had to change provider and Utilities Warehouse are still trying to get more money out of us for cancelling the service. Shocking.

I was previously with TalkTalk receiving around 70mb down and 20mb up paying £25 per month. Talktalk increased my bill by £2 after the first year which at the time I was outraged by (i deeply regret this now).

I met a UW salesperson at a business event and was convinced to sign up to their services. On paper, the broadband deal was like for like to what I had with TalkTalk so I was happy to go ahead and sign up.

I work from home and occasionally use a VOIP phone for conference calls. How embarrassing for me when my VOIP phone cut out 3 times in 15 minutes due to poor connection and I had to call back into the conference a 4th time using my personal mobile.

Whilst I realise home broadband connections are not necessarily the best for VOIP, a connection quoted as having download of 65Mb should be sufficient considering it was 2pm and no other devices in my household were using the internet heavily.

Following this i started to notice other issues, my Alexa devices didn't function as well, (i'd never experienced buffering with TalkTalk) and it was noticeable if I was using a few devices at once. I live on my own in a small 2 up 2 down terraced house, so I shouldn't have connectivity issues between floors, but I started to experience them.

I've never bothered speaking with UW about the issue because their customer service is terrible in every other service I've had a problem with and as a person who works for a broadband provider I understand that their IT team can't do anything to help me, it's simply the shoddy, and very heavily contended line that I unwittingly signed up for.

I absolutely would not recommend UW for broadband. Their prices do not justify the poor quality lines they provide.

Additionally, if you are currently with UW and haven't yet got the LED lightbulbs, I would be seriously wary of getting them as this ties you in to a further 2 years of having their broadband. I have around 25 of these lightbulbs and 9 have blown in 4 months. My old lightbulbs are back in and working fine.

TalkTalk if you are reading this, please take me back.

Currently downloading Forza Horizon 4. Its still got 15 gigs to download and has been downloading constantly for a week.

I was playing online poker last night. Router kept dropping out in important hands. TOTALLY UNUSABLE. 1 star is generous. They deserve 1/10th a star.

For some unknown reason my broadband speed crashes most nights after about 11.30 at night. This is a consistent phenomenon. Utility Warehouse are singularly un-helpful.

BEWARE! The broadband service was never right and we had multiple replacement routers sent to no avail. There are errors on the bills and fees that you are never told about beforehand. The service is expensive, and bills are confusing if you have multiple services with them. When we decided to leave, it has taken months of phonecalls and emails and we still keep being sent bills, and we have now had to threaten with going to the ICO and making a complaint. This company is not a good deal on so many levels!

I must say, all the 1 star reviews are very accurate. The 5 star reviews are obviously fake and come from their PR teams.

Took me 10 minutes to do this review because that useless piece of sh%t router dropped out again. Consistent drop outs all day every day roughly 10 minutes apart. Its laughable really.

These have got to be the worst company ever.

We was told a figure for gas electric and broadband based on our last years usage with other providers. However this figure was off and has increased 3x as much now which is more then we was paying.

The Internet speeds are rubbish. We are lucky to get half of what we are guaranteed, so you phone up and complain then it will go back up for a few days then drop again. They must be slowing the speeds on purpose hoping we don't check.

Their Customer service is a joke and dont help with your problems just read off a script.

Would never recommend and stay well clear.

I have paid recently for ultra broadband an extra £3 a month. The new router was sent but no step by step guide which was supposed to be in the package. Still not gone live so had no broadband since 8th July. You can no longer email them. I have also lost faith in Trust Pilot for awarding this incompetent company a 5 star rating.

Service at the beginning and change over went fine but then the cracks appear.............. Started having issues with broadband and after 2 visits from an engineer they still couldnt fix it so we we considered going onto fibre broadband if it could be agreed that the switchover charge could be removed as they could fix our normal broadband which was more than adequete for our needs/use. Along with this we had a few queries on a bill which we had been overcharged, the staff member we dealt with was extremely rude and unhelpful.

When signed up we were not told you get charged for the cashback card each month nor that there was a charge when you topped up or that there was a minimum amount that you were able to put on.
Along with this we were not aware that although they say no contract or exits fees well there are! £30 for broadband and £25 for each electricity and gas. So watch out.

After cancelling with this company as we agreed to pay all the exit fees to get out, we had received and paid our final bill or what we thought was our final bill. Then they kept coming even being told by numerous staff members that the account was closed and clear so cancel your direct debit. Low and be hold we were getting bills and messages saying your account was overdue etc. So they ended listening to the previous call to confirm we had been told this. Low and behold yes that's fine all paid and clear and closed. 2 weeks later yes you can guess we got another bill. And so it goes on.....

The logic behind the whole 1 bill thing is great and they were a little cheaper but they're useless when there are issues.

since having the broadband installed in november 2017 my internet speed with utility warehouse has been shockingly slow. i contacted customer services on numerous occasions altogether they have said:
i should upgrade to fibre, which i did and still the same problem.
offered a better router for £20+.
they tried changing the channels and resetting the router on their side and still the same problem.
eventually sent out another router which is the sameone and still the same problem.
they said it could be that becuase im living in a flat i could be picking up interference. bear in mind there is only one other flat above me and there hardly ever in.
they said my router could be two far away which it isn't as it's roughly 7-10 ft away if that from all the things i use internet for.
then they tried selling me a better router for around £70+ but for £1 a month i could have it, bear in mind the last one they tried selling was only £20+ . no chance i told them as i've been having this problem for nearly a year and for £1 a month as a gesture of goodwill they could provide one as the amount of money and time i have wasted and don't get me started on the gas supplies with them :-(. take some good advise and stay well away from UTLILTY WAREHOUSE.
stick to bt, talktalk, sky, even plus net as they all semmed better over the years.
    good luck.

Broadband was absolute rubbish from day 1, even with upgrading the router and paying even more money. the payment plan that you get put on is rubbish and if you don't stay on top of it you end up with hundreds of pounds in arrears. If you ring customer service, they are not helpful. I have recently left UW and have been left with a very HEFTY bill of almost £800 from the Arrears and penalties etc.. this company is a farce and I will be telling everyone of my internet contacts and personal friends to never join this club. to top it off, the person who signed me up and the person who signed her up left because of similar reasons and because problems were NEVER resolved. even after letting UW know that we are full time carers, that are unable to work, of a woman with dementia and numerous disabilities, would not give us any compensation. unlike the wonderful service we have been given by our current provider.
    RUBBISH SERVICE AND COMPANY.
if I could give no stars I would give them none!!!!!!!

Dreadful service, tricked in to a contract that meant we had to pay a load of money to them when we left even though they were unable to provide the service we wanted in our new home. Customer service is appalling no one willing to talk to you about the issue. The broadband is slow and real issues with connecting to the internet as connection was so unstable. Avoid

Worked fine for 7 months then stopped one day, contacted utilities warehouse and they told us the only way to get it back was to upgrade to fiber pay an extra £5 a month and have to extend the contract by 18 months. We changed supplier because I didn't want to pay more and there were cheaper options available with other suppliers.

This company are extremely good at apologising and blowing smoke off your backside but absolutely crap at sorting out any problem. I was supposed to have Broadband and phone running a month ago but OpenReach failed to connect me (beware this godawful company too!) I have spent the last 3 weeks sitting on the phone (my mobile of course) trying to get anyone at UW to listen to my complaint. All they kept doing was telling me my phone and broadband were live when they clearly weren't as I don't even have a phone line or socket yet!! When I tried to cancel, their sales team said I'd have to pay an early termination fee. Vast numbers of staff listened to me rant on and yet very few of them actually called back, actioned anything or kept me updated. Not even a non-computer generated email to keep me updated.
I have finally managed to speak to someone there called Paige in Customer Services, who has at last cancelled without charge.

Trying to phone through to the right department at UW is practically impossible and the amount of time I've been kept on hold music is unacceptable. Having read other reviews here about the poor levels of customer service I cannot say I'm surprised. My whole experience of dealing with this company as been stressful and frustrating. I'm still with a phone or broadband and now I am going to have to start over with another provider. Probably Virgin. And when I get a moment I will switch my energy from them also.

Shocking customer service. Insisting we restart our contract for moving house to another 18 months or pay £150 fee for finishing contract early. Speed/ router are complete crap and the internet is constantly cutting out. Only two of us in a small flat so no excuse for this. Would rather close the contract that give them a penny more than they are due. Complete scam! Avoid!!

Worst broadband provider I have ever been with. Constant lag when streaming, picture quality poor when streaming unreliable source of service to depend on especially if you rely on internet. EVEN WORSE FOR GAMING. When I was with sky a a 2.33 GB download would take between 5-10 minutes sometimes less than that. I'm now looking at a 2-3 hour time period for that same download. With an average download speed of 4.096 KB per second although that is constantly altering. If i wanted to do and update for anything above 20 GB I'm looking at a 2-3 day wait which is completely unacceptable. I left for a cheaper deal and thought that they might be some differences in downloading speed but didn't think it would be this bad. Also the deal hasn't turned out to be cheaper at all if anything I'm paying more for a worse service. When speaking to the customer service team they blamed it on the area that I lived in. DON'T BELIEVE ANY POSITIVE REVIEWS, if you are thinking it's to good to be true you are 1000% right. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE, don't let it be yours.

Nothing good to say. Bills leapt up after smart meters and 'money saving' LED bulbs installed. WIFI is none existent except when next to router. All my ceiling spotlights were broken when fitters installed new bulbs. Broadband is far worse than any supplier I've known before. I have had a complaint on going since March '17 and was offered £30 as resolution to start with. I have to pay £170 to get a qualified electrician to fix my lights, they then offered to pay that to settle my complaint as final resolution which I refused as it didn't address any of the other massive issues I have. Have now taken complaint to The Ombudsman. Totally useless company in my experience. Regret leaving Sky. Stay well clear.

Broadband was diabolical when we first signed up a number of years ago, couldn't get us connected for nearly 1 month so we came out of the contract.
Since the news of energy bills raising so much, we decided to give them another go after recommendations by a friend.
Still no change in the company, Internet is absolute rubbish and as far as getting back in touch with you within 4 working days of receiving an email, UW haven't replied to my wifes email of over 3 weeks ago and so far mine neither that was sent to them nearly 1 week ago.

Absolutely disgraceful levels of service, falsely advised repeatedly resulted in full cut off of services at the exchange as a result of their billing error not resolved 2months+ after the issue was resolved. Shoddy/no communication, everything is automated and a case of 'computer says no', nobody does what they say they will and lies and fobs you off to the next person. Continued intermittent connection issues for eighteen months, still not fully resolved.

If you have ANY issues with utility warehouse you will waste hours and hours and hours of your life on the phone being passed from pillar to post giving you conflicting information and if you're lucky, MIGHT offer you £30 off their already extortionate billa for your trouble.

My elderly parents in law were with Utility Warehouse for almost 22 years before they switched to another internet provider at Christmas to halve their bill.

Since then they received a bill for GBP100 for switching away. Apparently they were in a contract and that's their punishment for breaking it.

My mother in law has queried this charge and asked that it be waived given that they have been such long-standing customers since 2002, but they have been told they must pay it.

What a disappointing way to reward such loyal customer service.

Where do I start, I read through most comments and I feel your pain and disappointment, especially feel for the lady who had 450quid taken from her. Shocking.

Alright so my experience I have been with UW for over 3 years now. My WiFi has been acting up since the day it arrived, thought nothing of it. Still thought UW was genuinely doing their part they give you WiFi, gas and electric sounds like the perfect package in one. However it's a lie, my WiFi has not stopped ******* up all these years. I use my WiFi alot especially during this Covid 19 lockdown and almost every day my WiFi drops, it's drives me up the wall. Especially when I am streaming a film over WiFi and the WiFi drops and the film goes back to the beginning so I then have to search through the film to get back to where I was, it ruins the movie. It doesn't stop there.

All of yesterday my WiFi dropped 6 times, I would understand if I had just installed and it needed to adjust, fair enough but throughout those 3 years the same issue, I even phoned 'em up told 'em about it, they wanted ME to pay £60 for an engineer, I thought to myself fudge that no way.

Price wise, I started off paying about £28 and that jumped up to £30.98 several months ago after checking my monthly bills on my email and saw my bills steadily creeping up, if that's not bad enough £4.99 commission on top. So I am currently now paying almost but might as well be £36/month for only 11mb/s, I was with BT beforehand paying less, much less I should have stayed with them. Anyway, Combine this shadiness with constant disconnecting WiFi you'll soon realise you're paying more than what you get, right now there are many providers who are much cheaper for 11mb/s. My ignorance got me joined up to UW. All that money wasted, and for what.

Recently, I had enough, changed providers for WiFi, gas and electric (changed my gas and lecky to a company called Bulb, check 'em out get a quote). The only reliable thing about UW is you can bet your WiFi WILL drop I guarantee it. Don't put yourself through the stress you don't need it. What you pay for is not what you get in return, on the sly they will take more money. It's not a discount club, it's a bootleg club, Utility Warehouse the knock off club.

Normally I don't post reviews, well not bad ones anyway, but I've lost so much trust and respect for this company that I'm no longer interested in their shenanigans. So from me goodbye Utility Warehouse, I will not be recommending you to anybody. If I could give 0 stars I would it's been nothing but a disappointment. Shame on you, care more about money than your paying customers, who pay for your services and receive fudge all in return but a slap in the face. Out of order, big time.

Shouldn't be so surprised such low prices. Only get what you pay for as they say. Terrible instructions with any item who knew we had 2 lines 5g & 2.4htz. Sadly both just as bad as each other. Slow or completely dropping out. No homework for the children as nobody available on the phone to help at weekends. Not happy at all

This is now beyond a joke. Unable to connect my Skybox and the broadband is absolutely rubbish.
I will change providers tomorrow and move all my utilities as well.
You are rubbish and deserve to go bankrupt.
    Thanks for nothing

if you switch to this company you will regret. I was with Virgin media and now the reception is very very poor with Utility Warehouse, and bear in my mind the router is conected to a phone line and you definitely won't have the same performance as a Virgin. Do not get iluded!

    Terrible service.
2 months i have been with them and had Open reach engineers out 5 times and still waiting for them the 6th time. The routers they send are next to useless, they drop out constantly. Ive not gone 2 days without having to ring them about my speed. 1 Meg is pretty much all i get even tho i pay for 7 plus plus. Just received a bill for 2 months even tho they said they was crediting my account. Rang them and they said because ive had some service (1 day every week i can use the internet) i have to pay for the service. I tried to cancel as they are not providing me any service and they said they was going to charge me a big cancellation fee. Disgusting service do not use and avoid at all costs.
