New customer from Dec 17. Very slow speeds, nowhere near speeds advertized.
Costantly dropping connection. But isn't this all ISP's in the UK now. Customer service is very poor to none existent. Lied too and shouted at me. Customer service refuse give sir name so you don't know who you're talking to. Waiting over 25 mins to speak to someone . AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We need a shake up in this country with these cowboy, take your money and run, companies. All ISP's work on contract, so they immdiately are in breach of their own contract as soon as they don't provide what their contract says it does.So you are not obligated as soon as this happens and can sue for breach of contract.

Avoid this company! Horrible experience and extremely rude customer service. We were switched over from SSE to origin and had no contact from them. We phoned them as our internet wasn’t working anymore and got a rude unprofessional woman on the phone, they said they had sent out letters and when my partner said we hadn’t received any of them he got called a liar and told “you sound like someone that just runs away from their debt”. Horrible unprofessional company.

In Feb 2017 I bought an 18 month contract up front from Origin. 5 months into it Origin started charging me for the broadband I had already paid for! Countless phone calls several letters and I've got nowhere. Thankfully they suggested I cancel my direct debit so several months later (May 2018) we are about even on costs but I don't know how to progress from here when I have such mistrust in their ability.
I'm going to lodge my complaint with the ombudsman and likely I will terminate my contract early on the grounds of breach of contract.
Their customer service in my opinion, to be completely honest is absolutely diabolical.
In addition getting technical problems resolved by them is also a painful and slow process. They have to go through "open reach" and I get the feeling that solving origin problems is a priority right at the bottom of the open reach list or it could be that origin are just bad at that as well.
Now more recently my broadband connection keeps dropping out and it came as no surprise to find that I'm now struggling to get that resolved.
I'm afraid I have to say that after signing up with them, I can make no positive comments about origin.
My only recommendation is don't sign up........

Origin are the worst broadband provider I have ever dealt with. Have now been waiting for 6 weeks for internet. I organised 3 engineer visits, and an engineer showed up on 1 of the 3 occasions. Their communication is appalling - no updates, no apologies for messing up, everyone told us conflicting information - just absolutely awful. Then tried to leave and the handed me a £600 bill. Honestly, avoid at all costs!

The worse move I ever made with household utilities. One month along, two Reuters, 12 phone calls, hours spent waiting for someone to answer-when they might do after 60 minutes- and still a very unreliable internet which keeps disconnecting. Cannot stream or listen to internet radio. I was with Sky for years and never had problems. Presently, still waiting for someone to answer me from the complaints department....

OMG, since June and now we in September I'm trying to fix my problem and every time when I call I'm receiving different explanations and every time they asking to check line and speed test.
Very bad customer service every time when I ask for manager or supervisor the answer is she or he very busy. Asking to call back, guess what.

Absolutely the worst broadband provider I have ever had the misfortune to have tried!
Do not sign up with them.
Sent out router saying it would all be set up, conveniently 14 days after signing up so cancellation not possible.
    No service.
Then an email from them saying BT had asked them to switch, (nothing to do with me)
Gave them another week to sort it out and nothing happened so called to cancel.
Heard nothing until today when I’m sent a bill for £270!!!
Horrible company, poor service, dirty, underhanded, ripoff Britain at it’s finest.

The worst service provider I have ever experienced. They should be banned selling services like this. Thank god my one year is over as I paid full year in advance. From day 1 problem, slow connect, crackly phone line, broadband disconnection.

If you want to speak to someone about it, you can forget it, wait for 2 hours on the phone, yet your problem will not be resolved. Email them and you wait months just to get a reply.

Stay away from this company at all cost. I had to use the ombudsman and they always find them as useless, in responsive.

Move to another provider who will pay your exit fees if you are paying monthly.

I placed an order to transfer my phone and broadband to Origin in December 2016. According to Origin they have been providing my telephone line since January 31st. However I'm still connected to my old provider network and still paying them. Origin haven't the vaguest clue about telecommunications or customer service. They do, however, excel in one area and that is taking money. My advice would be to avoid them at all cost. Find a proper supplier.

Hand on my heart, the worst broadband I have ever experienced in my life. Not only is it the slowest, but also the most unreliable and inconsistent broadband available. I promise you if you waste your money on this junk you will regret it massively. Minimum 25/30 times a day you will loose all access to the internet, you phone customer services and because you are receiving the download speed you pay for there’s pretty much nothing they can do. I assure you, get this broadband, you’ll regret it.

Would not recommend this service to anyone. The basic package means your wifi will drop out every week, resulting in hours on the phone to tech people who have to reset the line multiple times. Then at the end, no refund will be given when the package you were promised was not delivered.

Router was temperamental, we continuously had problems with it not providing a signal even although the broadband strength that was coming in to the house was fine. Signal was difficult to pick up in various parts of the house, had to buy and install boosters but even so they couldn't always pick up a strong enough signal, real pain when trying to watch Netflix. Handed in my 30 days notice a week after the 18 month contract had expired and they cut me off in error, then refused to reconnect me unless I signed up to a new contract. Called them and raised a complaint, when I hadn't heard back I contacted them again and they didn't have a record of my problem despite 7 phone calls. Bunch of cowboys - avoid at all costs!!!

Terrible patchy service. Line dropped without explanation. Slowest broadband speed we've ever had. Useless router. Friendly customer service let down by a awful product. We've just moved to Talk Talk fibre (with some trepidation given their reputation) but couldn't be happier. Has made me realise how pants the last year with Origin has been.

What a complete shambles from start to finish, After making an initial payment was given set-up / switch over/router delivery dates which came and went with no other correspondence.

Decided that I should cancel as Origin Broadband could probably not deliver what they are advertising. I cancelled the account, which did not generate a refund for which I have now had to chase 3 times by phone with a total call time running past the hour mark. Its been nearly 2 months since I cancelled! The operative was quite helpful but when he asked me why I cancelled before the set-up and I told him what had happened he was apologetic but then told me about the 50% of negative reviews that I would read about any IP provider!! I asked him what that had to do with my "relationship" with Origin Broadband and pointed out that this focus on other companies problems (largely irrelevant to me) was probably why they could not and cannot get their own house in order.

A company destined for bankruptcy, Prince Voltan adverts or not!

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS

People, please read all the reviews on these Cowboys who operate from Yorkshire. Absolutely CRAP outfit supplying a crap service and taking your money. Read up and do your homework as to why they get so many people making complaints about everything from substandard equipment that is about 4/5 years out of date, their billing and prices are made up over the phone and the best is the customer care services? Which is really none existence and the other Cowboys attached to the outfit are the debt collection agency. So be warned and take the advice of the worst reviews and work backwards you will see for yourself what a CRAP scamming outfit they are.

This is by far the worst company I ever dealt with, My router fails to recognise my password 90% of the time, I can't watch films or TV without it dropping out every few minutes, Even worse for me I got the contract as I am starting college, Lessons have become remote for the main part due to covid, It dropped out 7 times in the first 90min lesson, The oonly way I get contact with anyone from origin is to go online elsewhere and act as a prospective customer, They fone me 9am next morning but still have not spoken with technical support 60days later DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME

    Dreadful company.
Internet is down/slow more often than working.
Can't get through on the phone unless you're prepared to spend upto an hour on hold.
Staff are clueless unless you have a standard question and are argumentative.
Billing department haven't a clue what they're doing. They 'lost' my bank details 6 months into contract and cannot explain why they've now taken a 'First payment' in the month my contract is due to expire (thankfully) and are arguing the expiry date. (Jan to Jan i 12months in my book, in theirs it goes beyond to August ?!)
I can't wait to be rid of this bunch of monkeys.

Update: switched to Zen internet and all my internet problems are solved, even ones I didn't realised were caused by Origin e.g. LG TV would sometimes not connect automatically to internet which I thought was it being slow or malfunctioning. Nope, it was Origin and their terrible router.

Complete ripoff, way more expensive than other providers yet worse in every way. Screw this company they are useless.

The connection is absolute garbage: drops out or becomes unusable multiple times per week. I can see this is the same others are getting as review sites have been flooded with similar 1* reviews recently i.e. nothing to do with my setup, just this terrible company again.

My devices are feet away from the router yet once a fortnight do I get zero lag or delays. The rest of the time it ranges from annoying to unusable.

The router is complete rubbish too - complicated to setup, UI is almost unusable because it is some terrible ASUS one and it doesn't even have 5G. I'm paying £38 a month, way more than I would for same speeds with other providers, yet they can't even give a solid 5G router.

I went with Origin for the 24/7 UK based support and here is my summary of that:
    - nice but moronic staff that have zero knowledge on anything.
    - technical support are clueless morons
    - hold times are always very long
    - no one ever answers the live chat, you send your message and it says someone is there but no one replies.
    - terrible tinny hold music played on repeat whilst on hold.

Ashleigh Donkin who said she will call back the day after, never heard from her again. Sent so many emails no one bothers to do anything...12 days passed and no router, no internet...This company is FRAUD...Take the money and never do anything...I wish i did nto sign with them...trying to call now again to ask for a refund..they do it on purpose as they know you have 14 days to cancel if you are not satisfied, but after so many complaints ands written requests, the contract can be void as they are in beach of the Customer Consumer Act. Awful people... please DO NOT SIGN ANYTHINGWITH THEM

    RUBBISH....... AVOID AT ALL COST

Massive mistake to pay £125 for year to qualify for discount.

I had my broadband installed today expecting 10 mb speeds as previous suppliers only to find my speed is a super slow 3.5 mb. I rang customers service asking for my money back and they told me the cooling off period is when first signed up which was now over 14 days ago not when i had my bradband installed( how convenient for them)

Waste of money. I should have read the reviews on this company before diving in. Hope you don't make the same mistake

Firstly the sales man lied stating it was a guaranteed 70-80 MB and if I didn’t get it a tech person would be out to make sure I’d get that. I was vulnerable and stupid I stated I was fresh from a nasty divorce and didn’t know what I was doing and trusted him. I explained the house had large ground surface and he said no worries this is designed for a business layout so it’s all good. I did not get 70-80 I got - mere 20. I called for advise and was told that no technician would be out and it was suggested I put an empty fish bowl next to the router. I had no wifi upstairs what so ever and lucky if I had one bar and ended up upping my contact on my phone provider for my children to use my hot spot. I called again and I learned how to log into the router to change the channels which made no difference and was advised to buy a tp link. Also to buy ethinet (sorry if I spelled that wrong ) cables all around the house to correct it. Not quite underwing the meaning of what WiFi is…. I had my partner who worked from home during coronavirus curse causing relationship issues as the amount of work he lost due to it crashing so when I received an email saying it would be going up in cost because of how wonderful the service was you can imagine I wasn’t happy. I called and even one member of staff admitted it was crap! I went to contact them on a Saturday 5pm to tell them to shove it and guess what they’re shut. The rest of the world is open but noooo origin broadband is closed till Monday. The first thing I type in that comes with origin that pops up on search engine is complaints. Now how funny. I begrudge paying off the ending early fee to go to BT internet I really do. I strongly advise you do not go with this company people you’ll be tied in to utter tosh and lies. Go with brands you’ve heard of and know. I’ve had no internet and when I do it’s crap. They lie that a mechanic will come out is crap and if they ever have told you this do not believe them. Money wasted and thank god for 3 mobile that’s catered for the house internet. If you’ve read this and still sign up with them good luck.

Origin have clearly expanded too fast are unable to provide a basic service. 17 days after switching over I am yet to be connected and so have been without broadband for almost 3 weeks. I have phoned around 12-14 times spending in excess of 10 hours on hold to them. Unfortunalty I paid up front for the year- £172.49 and they refused to let me cancel a week in stating they had '8 weeks' to fix he issue.

    Worst connection I’ve ever had.

Decided to change from the post office net after years of keeping with them. Their prices were going up constantly and the speed was slowing down so decided to change. Was a bit concerned at first having heard a few bad things about switching over to origin. But decided the price should be worth it in the end. I was very wrong. When I first got it, it was a bit off but understandable in the first 2-3 weeks. After that I have had my net cut out on average 10-20 times a day for 10-20 minutes at a time. Contacted origin and was ignored after 2 messages and a few days. So tried again and finally got a message after 2-3 more days got the usual rubbish test it on your end etc. etc. already have makes no difference. Contacted them back. It’s been 5 days now and nothing.

I would seriously recommend NOT joining origin as the service is terrible, bad net (Slower than my last even though they promised better speeds), constant cut out, literally no help to resolve my problem, slow and simply a disgrace! I am trying to run a business and it’s become a lot more stressful since I joined this joke of a company. Will be asking for a full refund and finding another company ASAP. Don’t make the same mistake I made.

Origin broadband are in a league of there own when it comes to total incompetence, was with them for 9 months of bad service and unbearably slow internet, moved to john lewis broardband in Sept ,but origin have re-installed my b/b (not my phone ) to talktalk , leaving me with no b/b at all, its going to take 2 weeks to migrate back to john lewis who are not happy about having a customer stolen from them, just unbelievable !

Absolute worst internet provider in the UK.
Only getting 2 mbps yet the technical team just fob it off. Contacted Trading standards in Brighton who are investigating hundreds of Origin complaints. Avoid this Company or regret it tied to long contract or get out charges.

Awful company to deal with, my download speed between 1-4 max. No one answers the customer service phone. Have phoned many times, if you do manage to speak to someone they are really unhelpful. Truly the worse broadband provider experience. Do yourself a favour and stay well clear of this company.
