Everything is fine until you need technical help. Be prepared to spend 2 hours or so and multiple tries before you get any kind of satisfaction. The 'technical' advisors read from a script and you have to do the same tests numerous times before they move on. Even though you have identified the problem yourself and they could move straight there, they have to go round and round in a ritual resembling torture. By the time you are done, you are willing to accept anything. When my current contract ends, I'll pay a bit more and go with someone else.

We changed our package when the contract ended. The lady on the phone kept talking even when we said the battery is going She said she would e mail us she did not. Now we cannot access our smart TV as it says the password is wrong even though we have the internet and printer on the same password. Is this coincidence? Why has she not e mailed us with the new contract/

Talk Talk service is a complete nightmare. They may be cheaper when everything is going OK but God help you if you have a problem.
Today I have finally resolved an issue that has been ongoing for 7 months. What could this most complicated of issues be you may ask? I simply wanted to disconnect my call plan. I have spent hours on the phone, written innumerable letters, been lied to, contradicted and passed from one department to another. Resolution only came about, by appealing to the CEO, from whom I received a personal apology.
Today is a good day. I am finally rid.

I sincerely regret going with TalkTalk Broadband services. As a student, I need a reliable connection as all work is done and submitted online. Upon setting up our package, we've experienced nothing but a constant dropping connection, slow speeds and weak signal despite being next to the router. When one person is using the internet, the other two simply can't whether it's simple browsing or not. When calling TalkTalk, I was met with a call spokeperson who I could barely understand as they were not English, they tried to talk me through things for over an hour (a large phone bill for me with little money to pay it with) when they could in fact do it themselves within a matter of minutes. I'm currently looking in to switching to Virgin.

Worst mistake i ever made going with TalkTalk. I entered the simply broadband contract beleiving i would be only be charged £17.70 per month and they have added charges on my account every month. So far my cheapest bill has been 32.20! The engineer who came out to fit the phone socket installed it in a ridiculous unsafe place and when i complained to TalkTalk about this they sent an engineer to "move the phone socket" however the engineer had been sent to check the phone line and then TalkTalk had the cheek to charge me £65 for the call out! When they finally moved my phone socket they left significant damage to my property inside and out. I have put in several complaints with TalkTalk but none have been dealt with. They promise to call me back then never do. I definately wouldnt recommend TalkTalk. They are a scam.

Sadly they seem to use the same non-UK based call centres as BT. The staff are clearly following a script and have very little technical knowledge and no idea of customer service. I spent over an hour repeating myself and getting more and more frustrated. The customer loyalty team where UK based and much more knowledgeable and trained in dealing with customers and so much more helpful. I had exactly the same experience with BT. I will be moving to another provider as soon as my contract ends.

Absolutely terrible internet service. I am lucky to have any service at all, constantly rebooting the router and still the internet drops off. The staff are friendly but terrible customer service in terms of helping and calling back. Would not recommend. I asked to cancel, and they told me I would have to pay...even though I have no internet and therefore they are not providing me with a service!!

Avoid this company at all costs. I have specifically made an account just to write this review in the hopes people will avoid this company. Our account is in my partner’s name but I have been dealing with the ongoing issues we have been having with TalkTalk.

To start this review off, I had booked Monday 27th November off work to be around for a CityFibre engineer that was booked in to change our line to fibre in the AM slot of the day (8:00-13:00) which we had been informed about by a TalkTalk letter and several emails and texts. On Monday at 14:00, after waiting around all morning for a no show engineer, I decided contact TalkTalk about this and to see where the engineer was via chat. As I go to do this, and out of interest, I check our broadband speeds through the TalkTalk account as our internet as been slow. I then find out that our speeds are at 8Mbps rather than the guaranteed speeds we are paying for of 29Mbps. So I now had two issues to resolve with them over chat. After nearly 2 hours of back and fourth I get confirmation of:

    1. There is a fault with our external line outside of our home which is causing this issues with our broadband speeds but not to worry, they will get an Openreach engineer out to fix this first thing the next day AM slot again (Tuesday 28th November 8:00-13:00)
    2. They are really sorry but the engineer just won’t be turning up today due to more work being required before they can install. When I queried when and how this had been communicated to us so that I didn’t have to book a day off, all I got was that they were sorry this wasn’t communicated to us and that CityFibre will be in touch by end of day 4th December to rearrange the appointment

So now we get to Tuesday 28th November where my partner has stayed home for the Openreach engineer that will be showing up to fix our faulty external line. Unfortunately, yet again, no engineer turns up. Back onto the chat I go to query this again. After another painful hour of back and fourth I then get informed that the booking was not successful. So again, I query who communicated this to us so that we didn’t have to wait around at home for yet another no show engineer. Yet again, all I got was empty apologies for the lack of communication. They then very kindly rebooked this engineer visit for today, Thursday 30th November AM slot 8:00-13:00. I go online this morning to confirm it is all booked in okay as since this was booked and confirmed as booked in the chat, we haven’t had any confirmation of the visit. Again, after a relatively quick 30 min chat, I am assured the engineer is booked. I decided to contact Openreach directly just to see if they have an appointment booked for today at my address, to my surprise, no appointment had been booked. And so, for the fourth time this week, I go back onto the chat with TalkTalk (with each chat transcript being emailed to my partner so we have an official log of all of this) only to have them give me empty apologies for lying to me after yet another hour of slow back and fourth.

I have now tried to raise an official complaint and to be truthful, I don’t think it has actually been logged. I am also now currently waiting on a call back from a manager within 24 to 48 hours time… This is if they even bother to ring me! But trust me, if they ring or if they don’t, this review will be updated either way.

So, we are currently running on a broadband that is not running on the speeds we are paying for, and we are waiting for some elusive engineers to turn up and fix the line TalkTalk have admitted themselves is faulty and install our new fibre line.

All in all disgusting service but at least they are consistent in lying and wasting my time. I have informed them that in the meantime, while I wait for a call back from this manager, I will be scouring through Ofcom and our contract with them to see what our options are with paying for a service and a “guaranteed speed” that TalkTalk are currently aware they are not fulfilling and have made no attempt to fix.

This is our first time with TalkTalk and without a doubt, it will be our last.. Don’t make the same mistake we did by choosing this company.

Never in my life have I known a company be so rude and unhelpful.

Not only do they basically call you stupid when you ask for an engineer they then continue to speak about you in another language that makes the call center laugh.

I have taken them to the three homes I have moved to and have had problems every single time. I wish i learnt my lesson.

I have now rung virgin and it is being installed Tuesday!

    Good riddence I say.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Since the 30th October (28 days ago as I'm writing this) we have made 13 points of contact with Talk Talk. After being past from person to person to person, and almost 8 hours in total of conversations, our solution has still not been resolved despite all of our problems starting due to an address change that was not requested. Terrible service all round. I do not recommend using this broadband service.

Talk talk has the worst customer service. They do not help, they are rude and constantly put you on hold to make their money. Signed up to talk talk, received a faulty TV box and the Internet was slow if I was lucky enough for it to work! They also charged me for equipement that was sent back. Avoid this company.

Definitely would not recommend. Internet download speed is regularly below 1 mbps and often less than 0.01 mbps. Have contacted customer services frequently regarding this matter with no solution to the problem. When I call up I am often on hold for well over an hour and then I am put through to the same level help person each time who then runs me through the exact same procedures I was made to do the week before because apparently they don't seem to keep a note of what has been discussed on previous phone calls. Eventually they tell me they need to escalate my problem to the technicians who again run me though all the same stuff. A year into my contract and the speed is as slow as ever and I can't wait to change service provider!!

Customer service from this company is an absolute disgrace! I had talked to this company 8 times over a 7 month period to try and cancel my broadband! I had been told on numberous occasions that my broadband had been cancelled yet month after month I have been charged! I put in a complaint and was told I'd be contacted by senior management but no I was not contacted. So, again I contacted them and my broadband was to be cancelled yet again after being charged a further £70.40 that month! I then got an email saying I was to pay a further £170 cancellation fee! No condolences for being messed about at all just a total disgrace and lack of respect from this company safe to say il never be joining talktalk again and will not recommend it to anyone!

I initially selected talk talk wifi because of their great deals, however I was very much mislead. The package we signed on for was simply awful, you could not have more than one device conected at any time, not if you wanted it to work! And forget peak times, any connections was impossible then, so I ended up having to upgrade anyway and paying more than other companies. However our main issue occurred when we moved. I used talk talks online move service, little did I know that by doing this they would automatically sign me up for another contract, which I only found out about when i tried to leave. According to the helpline for talk talk I would have been informed on the telephone of the new transaction even though all of my move was completed online! I ended up paying a fortune to leave talk talk and would NEVER go back.

I signed up to TalkTalk on 30 Dec 2009 and am still waiting to be connected (it's now 22 May).

I have had nothing but problems from them and have to say that the best customer service I get is when I call the cancellations department.

First they failed to inform the BT engineer checking my line was live to install a new socket (my original socket is attached to a front door where there are no sockets and a very hot storage heater).

This then led to a delay as the engineer had to come back out to install it. Since then I've had numerous excuses about there being issues with the connection and nobody seems to know why.

I'm so fed up of waiting now that if come Tuesday (25 May), the latest date they said it will all go live, I'm going to cancel and will happily go somewhere else even if it means paying more for a better service.

Rang Talk Talk today as my broadband and film access went down yesterday. I rang and the message said technical issues press 1 to get updates via text. This never happened so went on live chat today. And they admitted system outage but said No customers would be compensated as all customers were affected. This is the lowest level of customer service I have EVER experienced. I advise all customers of Talk Talk to WALK WALK

I got broadband from TalkTalk and thr speed of it was atrocious. When using my phone I actually had to turn my wifi off and use my 4G to send videos. If I even breathed on the router it would go into a tizzy. I did a broadband speed test one night and got 620kps.
They say they are the only company that doesn't give you a price hike and that your price will not rise the whole time you are in contract. I was paying £20 and my last bill was £20.18. I know 18p isn't a lot but it's the principle.
My contract was due to expire and I have lost a lot of hair from tearing it out with frustration trying to notify them that I did not want to renew. Such a palava! Their customer service is shocking. When I said I did not want to renew and wouldn't give them a reason, why should I? I mean, I didn't want their broadband. That's reason enough. Because this mustn't have been an acceptable answer I was continuously put on hold and then told that surely there were other people in my household that wanted broadband? I explained I lived alone. I was put on hold and then asked was I moving house? And did the new tenants want broadband? At this stage I was seriously at risk of fracturing my teeth from clenching them so hard. When I finally got them to accept I was leaving I was read out the terms and conditions and told I would have to pay an early termination charge to which I explained that I wasn't terminating early, I was simply not renewing. How could they not comprehend this?
After receiving a letter and an email from them giving me a really good deal on faster fibre broadband which I didn't have because they didn't want me to leave I rang up to enquire. Better the devil you know eh?
I was told... Wait for it... To ring back in two to three months as there was an outstanding balance on my account. I explained I am still in contract, it expired on 20th March, I have never missed a payment and what was this phantom balance? She told me she could not tell me and was unable to offer me a new broadband package.
This company sucks big time. Their letters contradict their actions and no-one seems to have a clue when you ring. Their broadband speeds are useless and they had the cheek to send me an email telling me to return my router and all the wiring etc. to them when finished. I shall... In pieces.
    STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

It really shames you can’t fix my broadband for 9 months !!! Your customer service just cheaters!!
I contacted TalkTalk hundreds of times by phone, twitters and compliant but your company has no shame to stolen customers money with zero quality services.

Last time I spoke with the 4th customer service manager and she promised that will sort it out asap, I explained to her I can’t trust you because I had a lot of cheating experience with TalkTalk, all promises NOT TRUE.

It is really SHAME TalkTalk failed to provide broadband below the minimum guaranteed limit and still charge customers without refund.
Your liar customer services promised me ten times but all promises just a cheat !!!

It really shames all your customer's staff and all your engineers unable to fix broadband for one customer !!

I would recommend you to dissolve your company or do other business because your company unable to provide broadband for 9 months !! and unable to fix my broadband for 9 months !! and still charging full price !!!

Absolutely awful. Completely disgusted at their service, always keeps hanging up in the middle of the conversation. Everytime I call, they hang up. Service is so slow, my kids can't even watch a three minute video without stopping it to let it buffer atleast 180 times. Doing their homework on this awful internet is hopeless. Utterly disgusted.

TalkTalk is absolutely fine as long as you avoid their so called 'Super Router' which is buggy. This is causing many of the problems customers have with their connections.

Buy your own router (I'm using a £40 TP-Link router) and you'll find a solid and stable connection.

It's better to use Live Chat to talk to CS as it's very hard to understand the Indian call centre operatives.

However, I've found the only way to resolve most issues is to email the CEO Dido Harding's office who are English and will resolve issues reasonably.

So, after my partner has suffered long periods of lack of accessability to her NEW email, whilst my email (OLD STYLE) has functioned correctly, Now I cant get into mine and hers works fine!
The Changes introduced have been a disaster, without proper testing (Why should paying customers have to do the testing for these vital connections??)

Will move my accounts as soon as contract finishes, I cant cope with the lack of competence and availability of information.

Reading this thread it seems to me that the advice Talk Talk give is that our computers are changing settings (Ports and the like?) So, am I being sabotaged by my own computer?. I doubt it. This kind of thing happens a minimum once a year, and it goes away (accounts finally being readable) after some days. Does my computer self heal?

No recompense offered, by the way, even though service not received and no reply from the C E O`s desk either. Discraceful.

Easily the worst possible service for E-Mail, with no interest in individual problems, they are in a numbers game and they promote for new customers all the time instead of spending the money on good technical and support staff ... FORGET THEM!

TalkTalk are fine while things run smoothly but when there is a problem or changes are required their Customer Service department are totally useless. They will try very hard to misconstrue anything that you say and will work constantly to persuade you to go away. It is a pity that they let the Company down so badly when the operations side are reasonably ok. I will certainly look for another supplier when my term is up.

Please don't do this to yourself. Utterly awful, horrific, could-not-be-worse actual service, and even worse "customer service". Got to be the worst company in Britain; makes BT look like your own personal Jeeves the butler by comparison. How on earth are they allowed to take money for this?

I had a problem with broadband for 17 days today while phone was working. Spoke to talktalk customer service 3 times, every single time they assured me of working in 24 hours, which was a lie. Fourth time, reported problem told me to do same thing which I did before, and finally I had to convince them to send engineers with a charge of £65. Stuck.... Helpless..... Frustrated unhappy customer. It's cheap than others but worst customer service. Not recommended to others.

    An absolute disgrace.
Told me that the engineer visit was for free then told me it was my house wiring which was affected when it was actually a problem outside of my house for which i have no jurisdiction on and subsequently charged me £65.
Wish i never joined now stuck

Avoid at all costs! You pay for absolute crap. Customer service are people in India and they are useless, you'll be extremely lucky if you can get someone that understands the situation. I've terminated my contract and moving back to sky

I know the other reviewers have had bad experiences, so I guess I won the Broadband Lottery!

Got TT about a year ago, and yes there were teething problems... Arguments as to which end of the line the fault was one, promised a new router which never came etc, but since then the speed and quality has been fine.

We have just moved from one end of the country to another and we're expecting hell to move the account, but half an hour on the phone and it was sorted "just plug in your router and you will be connected".

As incredulous as I was at this, when I plugged in the router in the new house and switched it on, all our devices connected straight away no problems.

Now, we have never needed to switch from TT, complain about a service, change DD date etc, so I can't comment on that customer service angle, but our journey with them has been surprisingly smooth.

Just deeply unreliable. The nature and pattern of outages points the finger squarely at TT infrastructure. Better via a VPN. Top tip: Try Zen instead, more expensive but then so is not getting what you paid for.

I am not used to being a troll, but I must say: avoid at all costs. It is worth paying £10 more a month then to go through the hell on earth that TalkTalk put you through. I have been with them for years. I have given them a second chance a third chance fourth chance. Today, I have finally given up; they have made substantial mistakes at every single step of trying to correct my long-standing problems with them. A few months ago, after complaining about inconsistent broadband, they talked me into upgrading to fibre. At every single step of this upgrade, there was a mistake , And not just a small mistake. When you contact support, you are put in touch with an agent, who may be very pleasant, but really knows nothing, and is reading from a script; they are obviously warned against deviating one I order from the script, and will waste your time repeating these rubrics As if they were putting you through Tridentine Latin Mass from the Roman Catholic Church from before Vatican II. Today, I literally spent the entire day talking to various agents; when they hand you off one from another, you wind up starting from the beginning of the script again. Today was the final straw ; Yesterday was the go live date for fibre. Instead of faster fibre broadband, my service went dead Even though everything inside my home was working perfectly well all through the weekend, with the new writer, on my old standard. Service, aged after agent insisted on walking me through steps with my router, cable, filter etc. No matter how often I assure them everything was working just before they switched, and the fault was probably at the cabinet. I was totally ignored, pasta on to another agent, and so we began from the beginning – not a very good place to start— despite what Julie Andrews might say.

If I could give less I would. So after signing up for and paying for TalkTalk’s WiFi they managed to set up a direct debit... that’s it! The day of my “go live” date no engineer turned up and I hadn’t received either my welcome pack or the router I was supposed to have gotten days before. The explanation was that the engineer required extra parts and they would call me the next day to let me know what was happening. They did not but when I called them I was told that they had cancelled the account because it had timed out because they had failed to order the engineer the parts they needed on time. Meaning I would have to place a new order with them (at my own expense) which would take another 14 working days. No offer of any form of compensation and although I was told that they “understand” I only got an apology for the inconvenience not their gross ineptitude. After speaking to them over the phone and asking to be transferred to a manager I was instead passed to another rep 3 times before eventually being transferred to a manager who offered precisely nothing but promised that if I took out another order with them they’d monitor it to make sure they didn’t screw up again and that they’d get the sales team to call me in 10-15 minutes as he couldn’t transfer me directly. 45 minutes later I took out a contract with BT as I still hadn’t heard back and had my problems sorted in less than 12 hours. If TalkTalk ever bother to get in touch with me again I’ll give them an ear full but I suspect they value their customers so poorly they won’t even try!

TTG-200 error every 5mins. Turn off at mains watch 5mins (sometimes) then repeat! Can't believe they charge £70 per month for this. Never leave reviews but felt compelled to do so after months of torture. Not even worth 1 star, pathetic. Review only possible after turning my phone Wifi off while at home - says it all! Avoid at all costs!
