The worst internet ever I had to get a new router box as the first one they sent me didn't work. I tried to ring them the first time and had to wait an hour and the internet still did not work. I have rang them twice since as the internet keeps cutting off. Then they said they are going to charge me £198.00. Avoid this rubbish company.

Took out a contract but then decided to stay with bt
2 days later. Told I could cancel within 14 days and get full refund. Chased for refund of first payment, no answer to emails or calls. Went through resolver and escalated the matter to the ombudsman and now 6 months later they have issued a refund but with no explanation of why they took so long or refused to answer my communication. Do not go near this company.

Im having to use my phone data to post this as i did sign up for internet but only had it for 10 mins in 3 days. Piss poor and ill be getting in touch with an ombudsmen for breach of contract they tried to say i was tied in with as ive had no service. 1st phone call over 40 mins. Currently on the phone again to no avail. I wish id seen all these reviews before i signed up id have stayed with sky. Slightly more expensive but least i get what i pay for instead of paying for a service and getting nothing. Im going back to sky if they try and bill me for the contract they can whistle

Avoid at all cost!!
Avoid at all cost!!! We are with Origin since January and unfortunately have 12 months contract with them. The service is so bad we are unable to open emails, talk on Skype and not even dreaming about streaming ANYTHING at all. The connection is dropped every few minutes making it very difficult to buy anything online because I never know if the payment will go through or not or maybe I will pay twice. Not even dreaming of using it for work which makes my life hell. I am disabled so going out to work from places with wifi is quite a task. When we spoke to customer service to try to resolve the issue we were told it's not their fault but the phone line is rubbish so nothing can be done. This, of course, is not true because we spoke to previous tenants and they also used a basic broadband before with no problems. We were charged around £70 to set up the socket by an engineer, we were not told about it and found out from bank statement...He left lots of cables poking out and maybe that's an issue yet we are unable to find out as Origin Broadband will not cooperate and are not interested in looking into it. Luckily we have only just over 3 months left and will be finished with them soon. NIGHTMARE.

I am afraid after 3 months I went back to BT , a young company trying to compete without the infrastructure to deal with the customer traffic they have generated. to be fair they are nice people who do not have the systems and structure to deliver a capable customer service . Avoid until they get it right .

dont buy! they steal your money and time
worse service I could have ever imagine. It took 26 days to get an engineer to come and get the line active. That didnt happen, then they sent the router a day before my line was suppose to be active, to a wrong address. I had to deal with parcelforce myself. Impossible to call them because there's a waiting time and after 30 minutes of wait they hang up on you.
Cant even cancel as my line is "active" and I obviously still have no service.
DONT EVER BUY. Bunch of thieves.

Internet was terrible was only 0.9 speed and constant drop in connection but since the update on their router it's much better (still only 1.8 speed) and drop in connection has stopped still I only paid 154 pound for the year upfront guess you get what you pay for

Rightly or wrongly I signed up for a 2 year deal with Origin at a fantastic price (compared to BT). They mistakenly took out an extra £16.99 fee but I received a call saying they'd realised the error and issued a refund. The day of the switchover I received an automated phone call advising the Router would be delivered. It was and on time. Mid-afternoon BT switched off their connection, I connected up the Origin one, ran the installation CD, setup the connection in Windows Network centre and an hour later it burst into life working perfectly. I did a speed test for my postcode the maximum d/l speed i can get for my area is 6Mb and i was getting 4.2. So far so good, couldnt get it any better than that I dont think. We'll see how things go regarding the connection and speeds (3 stars given for now) but at the moment I'm happy, especially how much money Ill be saving over the term.

We struggled on with Origin Braodband for 6 months before finally cutting our loses and giving up. Slow speeds, poor reliability, seemingly on desire to improve matters. To cap it all, 2 months after my 12 month up front line rental ended I became aware that they were still charging me for line rental. They refused to refund me claiming I had never informed them I was ending line rental!

I am generally shocked by all the negative comments as mine has been nearly faultless and defo no worse than any of the major provider's. I used have the full package inc multi room with Sky costing nearly £100 PCM, but after buying a firestick cancelled the lot and just needed broadband provider and Origin came up the cheapest £17.99 PCM for the basic speed. I have read people saying the first months payments was double but what these people forgot to mention you get the first 30 days to try it out then if you don't cancel you get billed double on your second month READ YOUR T&C's BEFORE SIGNING. I have a wife and a daughter and wife is always playing games on the tablet, daughter is on Youtube or her PS4 and I download a lot and its keeps up with everything fine. Customer service (once when I had to call them) got through within minutes not 20 min plus like Sky and the issue was resolved within 24 hrs. Really cant fault Origin and will stay with them for the foreseeable future.

The reason I am posting this review is because Origin are lying to Trustpilot by saying my reviews are false because I am not a customer!, I have noticed they have an active campaign using the same excuse with other bad reviews to have them removed and Trustpilot are cooperating with Origin, I had all the same problems as the other reviewers, Origin illegally attempting to take money after ignoring your confirmstion that you will nit renew the contract etc, it is a good job that I do not actually live close to this shower of thieves, I have never, ever had to deal with such a disgusting excuse of a company before, they should be closed down by OFCOM.

Signed up in November 2016, took the option to pay for the year upfront, problems from day one which lasted a full 10 months, broadband dropping almost every hour, called their customer services to sit on teh phone up to an hour and then get no where. broke their terms and conditions for not providing their advertised service so left, got a refund of £50 for 10 months of appaling service. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

I have had problems with Origin Broadband from Nov 2016.
Took 1 month to get the broadband working. Numerous calls but always the same answer 'waiting for open-reach update'.
Escalated to managers but still no joy. The company never phones back and you never receive feedback. I have never received a contract from this company either.
Currently I am experiencing very slow speed and unstable speeds. 0.36mb to max 1.72mb download speed. Fault was found on the line and open-reach contacted me to advise it was fixed, told open-reach that speed was bad and was advised to raise with Origin. First report to Origin was 3 months ago, still not fixed. In the middle of this (July) I got a random phone call to say my payment from January was not made. (I pay by DD so do not know how January was not taken), Requested the call to be followed with an email (to make sure it was not a spam call) email never received. I assumed the call was spam but line speed reduced drastically. Calling Origin they advised my line was throttled due to outstanding balance, said I had requested an email but was told it was my problem not theirs. I have called again today to ask what is happening with my unstable line, 45 minute wait to get through to 1st line, was then told I would be put through to second line support, asked how long this would take was advised10 minutes, told the second line support that what I was told last time. He told me he could see the queue and it was only 10 minutes. minutes later I hung up.
I would advise anybody do not touch this company. The staff they have try there best but are not at all good. Many of the staff are quite rude. The company never calls you back.
I must have made in excess of 35 calls to origin since I went with them Nov 2016
, many I have given up on as I have better things to do than to wait 1.5hrs on a phone.I am just waiting for my contract to finish(which I was advised over the phone was 8th Nov as I have never had a contract I will have to take their word for it) I will never ever have any dealings with this company once my contract ends and encourage anybody who is thinking of going with them to pay extra and go elsewhere. A terrible terrible company
Emailed forum@origin-broadband.co.uk after complaint on trustpilot, still waiting.
I have an outstanding ticket with origin raised 27/07/2017 where my speeds are between 0.3 upload and 0.07 download.
I have sent the proof that I am getting errored seconds,
Want to leave but origin want 340 pound for the privilege of no service
Please avoid this company, time the ombudsman got involved, this company is a joke

I've been with Origin since April 2017. I joined as they were providing the best deal on uSwitch at the time. Previously I had been with Sky and with BT before them.
I had been getting around 8MB/s with Sky and BT (800kbps was the real speed) and only had connection issues once or twice. Origin on the other hand I receive between 4 and 6MB/s (real speed 400kbps to 600kbps) however this is sporadic at best. Usually of an evening it drops down to 1 or 2MB/s which is useless if more than one person is using the net.
Then there are the connection problems of which I must have 2 or 3 a week. No idea why it is so bad. I've had to call them a couple of times to deal with the connection problem. Which leads me on to customer service.
The people I have spoken to have been nice enough and managed to tell me what the problem was before going on to fix it. The issue I have had is the waiting times when calling them... is there only a team of 2 dealing with all calls?
All in all a very middle of the road company, not the best with much to be improved on.

Very poor speed (1Mb/s), intermittent connection, customer services reaction was "that's the speed you get" (tough!)
they block incoming connections (FTP etc.), although they deny it, unless you pay extra for fixed ip (DDNS is blocked.
I have changed supplier, instant speed increase to 4Mb/s - engineer visit, speed now 7.5Mb/s. I am also now able to use ddns without issue.
my advice - Avoid origin Broadband.

yep i agree, another that wished i wouldnt of ever gone with them, nothing but line dropping out even time the phones was in use for months, 40+ mins of hold to i gave up trying for that error,
now the contract was up in end of feb this year, and switched to plusnet on 5th of march, they still billed up to the end of april, for a service i didnt even have, witch after another 30 mins on hold, they promised to refund agreing it was an over charge, (but nope not happened yet) instend they want to charge for they router £40, even IF they cant even give an address to return it to, kinda just a little bit important,
even if they terms say you dont have to return they router IF your dont cancel before the miniium period, of your 12,18,24 months with the IF on line two, but i guess they just let dislixics like me write they terms huh lol
so IF im in the mood for it tomorrow im going to have a very fun time with them and the word IF, as in even tho they terms stat as i finished the contract than points ABC dont ply to me, that IF they want they router back and thats IF they can give me a damn address for it, and only IF they refund the over charge they agreed to refund, and IF im it the mood to send it back after the inconvice of it all, as its not in they terms, it only is IF you not finish the contract term, IF you do than it is an IF point
but ya jokers, and IF i could i would give them no stars

Opened up 2 accounts on the same day 23/01/2017 for 2 properties. Then we cancelled one of them on the same day as we have decided to landline free in one property.Telephoned the same day to cancel only for wrong one to be cancelled - we found this out 7 days later. 3 weeks after our connection date still without internet. Found out today the wrong one is still connected. No refund of the cancelled contract and unable to get through on the phone. Webchat no use as i keep getting told a manager will contact me - they don't. No replies from provisioning. Don't care how cheap a service is, if there is no customer service then it is a waste of money. Going to cancel everything with them and go elsewhere....

The internet is so slow I prefer to use my mobile phone's network. It's not possible to cancel. There is no cooling off period so you will only realise the internet is slow when you can't cancel it anymore. It's just dreadful. It should be illegal to offer broadband connection at that speed.

Customer service = Meh...
There is an option to pay your bill if your debit gets missed, DO NOT USE IT! if you do, then a few days later (when you have funds to clear the missed debit) they take the bill again. and when you ask them to give it back "It will take 30 days"... by which time your next bill is due, this has happened to me twice now, DO NOT MANUALLY PAY ON THE SITE, just let them keep trying until you have funds available because you will not get the money back.

I have had origin since the start of the year, started off ok. nothing more. but it has got so bad of late. i have got 3 spare routers in the house, along with the one sent out from Origin, and none of them work on some days.
its an absolute joke, they never take a direct debit payment on time. i questioned it one time, and they just said it will come out when it comes out.
it isn't often you are happy to pay to get rid of a service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

After a troubled month-long switch from Plusnet to Origin (Plusnet at fault there?) it was finally connected but the speed had halved (from around 14 Mbps to 7 Mbps sync speed). Have tried their router and my own one I was using with Plusnet - no improvement.
Origin simply ignore all forms of communication. A nightmare company all round.

This is a company that has not got the hang of customer service. Emails go unanswered. When you make a complaint you are told a manager will call back within the 24 hours, which when you do not have good mobile coverage requires the customer to stay in as much as possible. But there is actually no point in waiting for the call because it does not come.
Worst of all though is the total lack of communication. I was promised a new router, because my old router kept rebooting itself. A manager it seems looked at this request, and decided not to send me one. This manager did not have the good manners to contact me. They are insisting on asking BT to look at the problem, despite an engineer having come out already and confirmed there is no problem with the BT side of things. I tried a router I borrowed, and I did not get any problems with that router.

I've been with a few different ISP's over the years and Origin are by far the worse.
I pay for 76mb fibre broadband. I've just submitted them a reading of 0.5mb on the download and 1.3mb on the upload, mind you that was quite fast - it's been as low as 0.13mb download speed.
This has been going on since I had the contract and I've spent countless hours on the phone, talking of which I've now been waiting for over an hour. Again.
This is how an Origin Broadband customer spends their evening.
The only positive thing I can say is it's UK call centres (based in Doncaster) and the staff are very friendly.
I used to be with Sky and I'm hoping I can get out of this contract and go back with them even thou they are slightly more expensive.
Currently looking to make a complaint with the ombudsman of which I've never done in my life but that should give you an idea of how bad it is.

I cannot believe a UK company can do so bad and keep trading. I would give a zero if it was possible, why, read on.
I had been with Origin since Jan 2017 and they were as expected a super Yorkshire company, yes there “was” another apart from Plus net! It all went wrong when Origin “upgraded” their service on 26th September 2017 and informed users this was happening and connectivity would be lost but no problem check this and if still problems contact them.
This happened and because I was away I did not report it until 30 September when I spent around 5 hours on and off the phone talking to various departments. I add that all the people I talked to were very polite especially the engineer who got me to make sure BT socket was good, (new Jan 17), and to try another router, filter and leads which all to no avail. At the end of all the conversations they said they needed to send an engineer round on either Monday 2 Oct PM or Tuesday 3 Oct AM or PM to check the line, why I do not know as phone was still working and the router was plugged directly into the BT socket. I stated I did not believe an engineer visit inside my house was needed but that was ignored. They also had the cheek to say if the fault was not my line I would have to pay for the visit. After I let my feelings known they reneged on this as stated I would not be charged in any case. I had been away for a week and needed to catch up on work and personal on line so agreed. I emphasised the fact that I needed the broadband ASAP. I used my mobile broadband to do the essential items but over the next few days had to pay over £30.00 to do this. After the first week of waiting for Origin to do anything I mitigated my mobile costs by changing my tariff to a much higher data allowance, 100Mb to 2.5Gb.
Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd went without any engineer visit or contact from Origin. I emailed on several occasions but got no reply. I decided that was enough so I emailed a final chance for them to sort it by making my house available on 15 minutes notice all day Monday 9th Oct. No reply to email and no contact. I informed them they had failed to keep their part of the contract and I was cancelling it. I signed up to Plus Net although this could not be activated until 25 October 1 month after Origin caused the issue.
I had a couple of emails saying I could not cancel as I did not give them the chance to fix the fault by allowing them into my house. I gave them ample opportunity to enter my house but suggested in writing to them that the fault was not in the house as the phone was working perfectly all the time. The new Plusnet service was also started without a visit to the house; I just plugged the router in and it worked as I believed it would. I believe the fault was further back up the line from my house and probably in the exchange where some setting or configuration was not checked or changed. I also believe they have not “upgraded” but changed their supplier to Talk Talk; in mine and thousands of others opinion the worst supplier in the industry. Another item is the deadlock letter which was supposed to be issued 5 days from 19 October and still not received, I emailed them on 29 Oct to chase this as well. They did offer me a 1-month refund and £20.00 but stipulated if I referred this to Ofcom this would be withdrawn, to me a bribe but unfortunately for them it was in writing. The latest thing is a bill for next year for a service I have not been getting since end September. I have emailed twice but no replies. What a joke. I have now referred the matter to Ofcom and they are carrying out an investigation.
AVOID this once great company like the plague.

Well... First of all please don’t trust all them happy reviews... they are obviously paid for.
Here is the story:
Got signed with them over the phone. Steve, sale adviser, promised me minimum guaranteed speed of 17Mb/s... not bad for basic broadband deal... Upon checking my location he’s assure me that no fibre optic available to my area at all... So admit me sign up for basic broadband. When openreach engineer came to install the line he said that fibre optic IS available as there is fibre optic connection on the pole... After plugging in the rooter my internet speed showed 0.24Mb/s... FTF??? Rung them to check what’s wrong with my broadband and they replied “What do you want? You are on the lowest speed option and we can’t do anything with it..” Really??? Wanted to terminate the contract with them but there is the trick... YOU CANNOT TERMINATE CONTRACT AS SOON AS YOU GOES LIVE... Or pay for the full therm of the contract... Made a loads of phone calls to them and got official confirmation that they guaranteed speed not less than 0.5Mb/s... After they realise that they actually confirmed that minimum guaranteed speed is 0.5Mb/s they top it up to 0.5Mb/s... Parallel they try to push me to sign the “better deal” with them as “your speed defenatelly gonna get improved. I guess that this is the way they push customers to sign for more expensive packs.
The customer support staff is rude!!! Proper rude!!! They not willing to help you out... dropping the calls and threatening you that they going to put your number in to a blocked list if you keep ringing them...
Only advise... AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

absolutely useless. Broadband keeps dropping out. The speed varies from 3.2mbps to 20mbps at any time of the day. this is for fast fibre broadband.Tech help is not much better. Customer service when you can get them is next to rubbish. I have suffered them for 8 months continually having to ring them and waiting in a queue for an hour with the same three songs droning on and on all the time. Not a pleasant experience at all.
