Truly shocking. I haven't had a broadband provider this bad for a very long time. On hold for over 1 hour every time I call. Even at 2:30 / 3:00 in the morning. Broadband keeps dropping, it's a problem with origins servers but they won't admit it and blame it on Phantom BT works. Only 3months in and I want to leave badly.

Absolutely the worst broadband provider I have ever had the misfortune to have tried!
Do not sign up with them.
Sent out router saying it would all be set up, conveniently 14 days after signing up so cancellation not possible.
    No service.
Then an email from them saying BT had asked them to switch, (nothing to do with me)
Gave them another week to sort it out and nothing happened so called to cancel.
Heard nothing until today when I’m sent a bill for £270!!!
Horrible company, poor service, dirty, underhanded, ripoff Britain at it’s finest.

Origin cancelled my broadband (6 Nov) as they said they could no longer provide a service in my area (I had just renewed this and paid GBP200 in advance for a years broadband). Origin also tried to take GBP 58 pounds at the end of the contract, which I stopped. I could not access my online account to see why.

Origin then also requesting I return the router at my own expense (which they said I could keep) and also charged me for the last month of service (which they said would be free).

I have only just managed to access my online account and now Origin are saying I owe them money (GBP 28) but the bill does not itemise what this is for. They are not acknowledging that they owe ME money and so far have not offered to return any of the money I paid in advance. So far numerous emails on this subject to their so called Customer services (and including the managing director) and Facebook messages have not resolved anything.

This is a company that does not tell truth. Will attempt any means to try to part you from cash. Had 2 year contract at £21 month they then tried to take £132 they said it was mistake but next month tried £164. Thankfully I reported attempted theft to my bank. Direct debit guarantee scheme ment bank refunded me. Then phone charges started appearing. My contract ends 15th march. I'm so glad to get rid of this terrible company

The very worst service I have had from an internet service provider!

The router is crap. It can barely send the signal to the bedroom directly above the router position. if your not within 4m of the router your signal strength is low, once you leave the room and stand behind a wall the signal to beyond weak. I reported the issue and had to pay for a new router, but the replacement was no better. I live in medium sized house, so there should be no issue with signal throughout the House. All previous providers routers had no issues getting signal throughout the house.

as I work from home it became impossible for me to work effectively and therefor costing me time and money which I can no longer cope with.
I endured extremely low speeds of between 4megs and 11megs for 12 months without any improvement (and that's when I had service at all, often it just wouldn't work). Today I had enough and I ended my contract, I was then hit with a £196.50 charge. I had asked that they release me from contract, but they refused, so I must now expend even more time and energy trying to recover this charge through the Ombudsman. Weather or not I'll get it back is questionable, but I decided its a small price to pay to leave and join a provider where you can actually used the service your paying for.

I reviewed my phone contract and over the last 13 months I over spent each and every month as the broadband was running too slow or crashing. constantly having to disconnect from the broadband at home to use my data allowance. My over spend as per the below was exclusively due to the broadband not working, I never used to exceed my limits before joining Origin. Over spend below:

    May 17' +£16.31
    Jun 17' +£8.59
    Jul 17' +21.58
    Aug 17' +£11.67
    Sept17' +£16.51
    Oct 17' +£24.31
    Nov 17' +£14.01
    Dec 17' +£32.55
    Jan 18' +£7.01
    Feb 18' +£11.07
    Mar 18' +£18.63
    Apr 18' +£4.05

A total Overspend on my phone contract of Approx £175.00. Thanks Origin!!

Avoid at all cost!!!! Pay the extra £5 per month and join one of the more trusted brands!!

I would give this no stars if possible. The company were slow, unhelpful on the phone and had terrible queues. The service they ended up providing was so slow (0.2MB) that it was almost unusable. After a month of trying to get released, they finally let me out of my contract, and then had the cheek to continue sending me bills. Don't be fooled by the friendly call centre staff, they will do absolutely nothing to sort your problem. Cheap but rubbish.

It's been 2 month I have Origin, it is the very worst experience with broadband I've ever had:
Started with a connection speed slower than 2G cellular, for 2 / 3 weeks. They fixed it...
And now it has been 3 times my internet connection just stops for a couple of days out of nowhere.
Been in contact with support 5 times total, more than 45m wait average, and their claim to have technical support 24/7 is a lie.
    Simply awful.

    Awful experience! Avoid if possible.

It takes around 45 min to go speak with someone if you have any issues, and around 1h30min until you can speak with the right person in the right department.

It took us more than a month to have the line up and running. We have been having cut offs for the last 6 months and still unresolved. Avoid!

It's been a month since I ordered Origin Broadband and I still haven't even received an installation date. Tried to call twice before work and put on hold for 30 mins with no response both times. I have since emailed them twice and still no response. Worst customer service I've ever had.

Nothing good to say at all about this company! Promised between 35-45mbps and couldn’t of been any worse I was getting around 1.5mbps and yes I mean 1.5 not 15. A friend of mine who worked for virgin has said that it’s the worst internet he has ever seen ! Downloads that take my friend 3 minutes take me nearly 2 hours. Don’t go near this company as they don’t care about you once signed the contact and paying. The cooling off period that you get to cancel if your not happy ended the day after they finally put my internet live so I had one day to cancel.

Trust me and every other review on here don’t go near them !

I strongly advise you not to use this service.I used comparison sites to find this provider, with it being the cheapest I foolishly got into contract with them. After stating the current situation of the house I was assured the Wifi would be good enough to use the computer to play games and watch movies which the wifi really struggled to keep up with. Being told it was fibre and the fastest package available I was told the Wifi would be sufficient, this however was not the case. After the engineer had poorly installed the router, we all experienced problems with slow internet and regular disconnection. I complained and the blamed it on our usage saying that there wasn't much we could do, unless we bought extenders. This didn't solve the majority of the problem after buying fairly expensive wifi boosters. Since then I have wanted to cancel which they have said I cant do unless I pay the hefty cancellation fee which is the same as the contract so is pointless. I would strongly advise everyone to NOT PURCHASE this broadband given the quality of service and WIFI, even though it may appear cheap. The staff are incredibly rude which is totally out of order considering the current situation we all find ourselves in. Don't make the mistake I did and DO NOT use Origin unless you want to be spoken badly to or have WIFI that you would be unhappy if you had it in 2005. Stay Safe everyone x

This is possibly one of the worst companies I have ever had any dealings with. We signed up to a 12 month fixed price contract as we thought the price was good. What a mistake. From the moment we changed over to them, our internet became almost non-existent. It would drop out for hours, sometimes days on end. It even got to the point where our printer could not connect to the network and refused to print anything at all. When we called customer service, we would be fobbed off with a load of excuses and put on hold for sometimes up to 20 minutes, finally being put through to their 'Technical' team who all sounded like they were completely clueless. We never once had any problems resolved by them. This went on for 3 months and after endless calls with no resolution we decided to leave and pay the breaking contract fee. We emigrated over to Sky and it was the best thing we've ever done. For £3.00 more a month the service is infinitely better and so is the customer service. If you want to keep your sanity, I suggest you avoid Origin like the plague - there are just as good offers to be had elsewhere with a much better all round service.

Terrible experience. Decided to leave Sky and try a cheaper provider - Origin. 4 months later summoned with a £200 exit fee despite them providing little customer service after logging numerous calls for persistent dropped calls. I went to the expense of purchasing a booster..as they advised...no improvement. They failed to get in touch at all after about our 3rd call to book a visit. I decided I just needed to leave the company after they failed to get in touch to arrange an engineers visit. The initial sales guy was lovely and helpful (no surprise there). What an absolute joke of a company. During lockdown I have daily calls with my team and I was always the one to loose connection every single day. So I would disappear for 10 minutes...come back...and hope for the best. Extremely stressful when you are busy at work. Cowboys at their best.

My broadband line was cut and when I called Origin asking why this was the case as bill payments were made on time they told me they were not sure so would look into it! I was then promised a call back and no one was calling me so I had to keep calling. All that happened when I called was I would be on hold for at least 30mins then get transferred to another department and be on hold for at least another 30mins. Then after all this I was told I would get a call back which still has not come!!!! I still do not know what is going on and currently have no broadband service.
On top of the very poor customer service, when my broadband line was active the service was very intermittent. In addition, my broadband speed is below 2 Mp, however, I am aware this would be the case with all broadband providers but it does not excuse regular periods where the line just drops off completely. Before moving to Origin I was with Sky Broadband for 7 years and never experienced such poor customer service and slow intermittent broadband.

AVOID ORIGIN AT ALL COSTS - FIND AN ALTERNATIVE BROADBAND PROVIDER.

We've had a few issues with our broadband, and - when you can actually get through to speak to a human about them - Origin have very effectively solved them for us. However, you are likely to spend 20+ minutes on hold, waiting to speak to someone. Also, there is often absolutely no response through the online chat support, which is very frustrating.

Terrible services, The broadband is barely there. If you manage to watch a video on the lowest quality on youtube without constant buffering then it is a miracle. No support whatsoever, waited on the phone for 2h and no one answered. They started charging me illegally 18 pounds per month on top of what i have already paid due to "mistake in the system". It is the worst provider i have come across. It was a big mistake going with Origin

I would give zero stars if I could!!! Broadband has been slow and continuously drops in an evening. Over 6 calls made, waiting time to speak to anyone is minimum 20 mins! Then get to,d there is an issue which BT are fixing, advisors refuse to take your details to make a formal complaint, they state they have too many calls to deal with and short staff.
I will continue to complain and go to ofcom!!

Calling on behalf of my dad who has dementia and now living in nursing home. Tried to canx and told I can't and will have to pay 28 days notice. Pointed out no-one at the bungalow why are they charging an 83 yr old pensioner. They said if he had died they could canx from next day. Absolutely no compassion or special dispensation. Shame on you Origin. SSE was far better.

I can’t comment on your internet service or speed as I’m not even with you, but I felt the rude young man who just called me out of the blue on my lovely Thursday afternoon needed a review - because your customer service is disgusting. After telling him I didn’t know who my package was with (what do you expect when you’re cold calling people) he then asked me ‘DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING??’ Before hanging up on me. Delete my number and train your staff properly. .

To be honest this is the worst internet provided I have ever come across. I change my internet provider every year to ensure I am getting the cheapest deal possible. The longest it has ever take is 7 days. Origin Broadband was a completely different ball game! It took them 2 months from me placing my order for an engineer to come out and fit my line. Not only did they not communicate anything to me, on the several occasions I chased them to find out what was happening i was told, we will contact you in the next 2 days. I was told this on 3 occasions, not once did they get back to me. I understand the delay does not solely lie with them as the engineers come from Open reach. But I can say their communication is appalling and in this day and ages it takes 2 months to get internet is really unbelievable!

I'll start by saying I've had worse internet. This was however back in 1998 when I had dial up.
Since starting with Origin on the 10th of February I've had nothing but problems, my connection cutting out, speed plummeting to 0.03mbs download etc. Trying to get in contact with customer services or Technical support is next to impossible and they do not live up to promises of call backs.
I'm giving them the required 8 weeks to resolve my issues and then I will be leaving and telling everyone I know to steer clear of this company. AVOID.

It's been horrible, my 88year old nan had her phone line through origin (part of SSE) then she wanted broadband, to chat with her friends online. It's taken 2 months of me and my brother phoning. She had internet for 2 days and this morning she has had no dialing tone on her landline. I was on the phone to them for over 3 hours. Still no landline. They just keep fobing me off from one service to another. Some of there staff where really rude. None of them are capable of fixing the issue. So now my poor nan has no internet and no landline.

Awful. I moved house and it's taken 2 months to try get WiFi to move with me. Sent out engineer who didn't even complete the fitting of WiFi. I then have 4 other dates I have taken of work for engineer to come around and he has not turned up to any of the 4 dates. Not one apology and still being charged when no service being provided. Fuming

Only been with this company a month and had nothing but problems. Broadband download speed dropped from 40Mb/s to less than 2Mb/s and I'm paying for Fibre! Will not respond to any phone calls, emails or messages. A terrible company, worse than the Post Office - and thats saying something!

I have been contacting Origin Broadband recently because they are preventing the activation of a new Superfast broadband cabinet in the village of Hatfield Woodhouse near Doncaster. They have failed to give their agreement to Open Reach for activation of the new cabinet and the result is that their customers who are paying for a fibre broadband service are being denied the best broadband available (even though they are already paying for it) and a large number of other residents in Hatfield Woodhouse cannot access Superfast Broadband even though the cabinet is installed and has been ready to be activated for 6 months.
I am told that Origin Broadband have caused the same problem in other areas but they are unwilling to make contact with Open Reach and resolve the problem.
From my conversations with Origin, I don’t believe they understand the problem so they are denying it exists.
If you are an Origin fibre broadband customer in Hatfield Woodhouse I recommend that you contact them to seek compensation as they are not fulfilling their responsibility to provide you with the best broadband service available.

Installation didn’t work and blamed open reach for assigning the wrong land line number, it’s still not working!! I’m left without broadband, do not make the same mistake as me, use a reputable alternative.

Check on your contact before you use the landline, I did not have landline in my contract, and I had to console my friend who's mother died, I had to pay an extra £149.55.
What can you say about such an under handed way to treat a customer these days I thought that practise wasn't used by companies who want to be seen to be using best practices.
When my contract is up I will move what an opportunist practice,JUST LIKE A THIEF, LOOKING FOR ANY OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE, I'M 72.
IN THESE TIMES, SHAME ON YOU. SHAME ON YOU.

Never buy broadband with them, they are the worst ISP inn the country, the internet will be down 70% of everyday, the internet speed you paid for will never be met and should you call to tell them that it is not working they will say it is working according to their computer and that it will cost us heavily if we call out a bt technician. I AM SERIOUS I TYPE THIS TO WARN YOU DO NOT GET THEIR BROADBAND!!!

I recently upgraded my package to increase the connection speed and this necessitated a new router.

Unfortunately since the new router was installed, the service has deteriorated markedly which is annoying bearing in mind the whole purpose of upgrading was to increase the connection speed.

It took Origin over a month to provide the new router and upgrade the speed but sadly reliability since then has deteriorated. We await an engineer's visit which is tomorrow as they say they have found a fault near our property. I will say in any case though, that although the staff are incredibly helpful when we speak to them by telephone, the administration at Origin is appallingly inefficient, as illustrated by the length of time taken from order to upgrade. As for the time taken to get through on the phone - it's ridiculous. Always a minimum of 20 minutes and often longer. And the music whilst you are hold is ear-shatteringly awful! About 5 dreadful songs repeated over and over again - which have not been changed for at least 3 years!
