Just terrible. After peak time, it's actually like they deliberately give you the worst broadband, probably so you might consider going for an even faster package.

We have never got WiFi throughout our home and because of the inconsistent broadband, we actually tried to get hold of them. Ridiculously long wait times on phoning them (probably due to many people complaining) and when finally got through, they said they'd send someone to test it. They sent the wrong engineer. He arrived to fix the sky TV and we both hadn't got a clue why he was sent. So he said he'll let them know to send the right person. Never happened. So after a 20 minute wait on the phone to talk to someone about it, the automated system had sent me to the wrong service and all they could say is they could send me to the right one and I'll have to wait again. After the first wait I wasn't interested. We're now cancelling our sky broadband and going with someone else. Someone that we can actually talk to and doesn't have so many departments they can't control.

The joke of it all is that we've had sky TV for so long, we're meant to have platinum vip service. A few little offers but it means nothing when it comes to customer service.

This is a copy of an email sent to sky after my broadband broke down.
Avoid this company at all costs.
After problems with my broadband I rang sky on Sunday 20th July and really didn't get anywhere. The operator informed my my broadband was fine. (Length of call 45mins).
Rang sky on Monday 21st July and advised them my broadband was not working. Line test was performed.( length of call 45 mins).
Rang sky Tuesday 22 July.(length of call 56 mins)
Rang sky Wednesday 23 July. (Length of call 60 mins).
Rang sky Thursday 24 July (length of call 68 mins)
Rang sky Friday 25 July (length of call 70 mins)
Rang sky 29 July (length of call 38 mins).
    To date.
I have been promised call backs twice that have never happened. I have been accused by an operator of being sarcastic and giving her aggro.
I have had the BT socket off the wall 4 times at your request. I have tried to cancel my contract and told I would be fined 47 pounds for cancelling. I have lost count how many people I have talked too. I have had operatives hang up and be rude to me.
I have tried to follow your complaints procedure and didn't get any where.
I have since sent a full list of this experience with sky to BBC watch dog as I strongly believe I am not the only person to be treated this way. A full copy of the email sent to BBC watchdog will be made available to you at your request.
I have never been so poorly treated by a company.

Total time on the phone to yourselves is 6 hours and 36 minutes.
    Is this acceptable!

I have also contacted trading standards for advise of cancelling my contract during a cooling off period in which you failed to deliver a service during this period. I will be happy to discuss these points with you

Sky customer service is disgusting. My parents phone line stopped working and the broadband became intermittent.
Sky informed and they where promised it would be fixed in 72 hours. Sadly dad had a stroke and mum had to run to the neighbours to ring the ambulance. A week later still no phone and no return calls from Sky. Mum has to ring the hospital from the phone box. Avoid this company SKY at all costs. Moving my parents back to BT.

First of all, I'm not that far from my local exchange cabinet, so I get 41 MB every single time I test my line. However, the customer service side of things isn't great, in fact it's utterly disgusting to say the least. When you have a problem with your bill (mine in this case) and you explain to them in detail exactly what the issue is, they start to over-talk me like I'm some kid who doesn't get what they're trying to tell me, it's like school all over again but with such a rude and insecure attitude inflicted upon me for no reason whatsoever, just because I mentioned I couldn't afford the TV package I was paying for during the duration of my contract, which apparently was £127 to get out of it, which I was willing to pay until they mentioned they'd wave off (in a rude tone) the termination charge on the grounds that I'd be no longer entitled to Sky TV services ever again except for Broadband and Phone, which is absurd, because I was willing to pay the exit fee anyway. Bare in mind, all this was said and done in the "Customer Priority department" which apparently deals with "Abusive customers". All's I can say is, avoid if you're looking for exceptional customer service, for example Plusnet.

My broadband was originally O2,really good service up to 20 meg and a was getting 18 meg as an average. Then Sky bought out O2 and the "service" steadily got worse over the months. Now down to 10/11meg really unreliable. Drops out a lot. If you ever speak to a Sky customer service rep (took me 9 attempts of holding for 15/20 minutes at a time) they don't have a clue. Basically Sky got greedy and oversubscribed the node/exchange. Now in the process of moving to Plusnet. Would not recommend Sky,total rubbish.

Absolute garbage please avoid. Wished I had stayed with BT no problem whatsoever quality. Moved to Sky because of a TV deal and all I have had are problems. Apparently there is no problem with speeds to my router, I have too many devices attached. Yeah right that's why I must be getting only 1mbps on average on fibre, why was there no problem with BT then. Rob-dogs

Sky broadband is totally appalling. The latest saga in the never ending problems with our broadband is intermittent connection dropping off -if lucky 2 times an hour, if not every 5-15 minutes - it's fustrating beyond belief.

Their customer services are completely unhelpful too. I've just spent an hour and a half listening to scripted rubbish. And my internet still isn't working. Which is a shame because when it is working (not as often as it should!) it give pretty fast speeds. But that fact is futile if you can't get any service in the first place!

The TV is good, but after being with sky for 10 years+ now, switching the Internet was the worse thing I've every done. We are self employed here and the Internet is utterly vital to us getting anything done. Am DEFINATELY cancelling and looking elsewhere.

Wouldn't recommend Sky Broadband to my worse enemy.

Useless. We have had sky for 2 years now and for 2 years we have had to reset the box and mess with the filter etc nearly every other day. Complained and all you get is it’s prob the box or your phone line, I know it’s not the line as we have had the same prob in our last house and I’m pretty sure we are on our 2nd box. As for the speed, we are lucky if 2 people can browse at the same time without slowing it down.

    Total disappointment and a disgrace.
    Customer service is non existent.
You'll be trying to get through for over 20 minutes at a time and they will not fix the problem.
They will lie and tell you it is you that is the problem and say it is your equipment that is interfering with the router.
They will charge you the full amount even though you get no service.
Avoid if possible. Sky only want your money!

I don't recongine the company I deal with from these reviews, I've always found them to be great. I get through to a british call centre and I never have to wait long until I speak to someone.

Technical problems are dealt with efficiently. I did have a major problem at first with reliability so they sent an engineer round and traced the problem to wiring in my house which he fixed and my internet spped doubled to 3.9mbps (BT could only offer me a maximum of 1)

Over the last couple of days I've had problems with the router and they said they would have to send a new one but it would cost me £30. The technical guy I was speaking to agreed with me that it did seem a bit of a cheek to ask that of a loyal customer and advised me to give them a ring in the morning.

Today I spoke promptly to customer services who were most apologetic, and as I was out of contract they said that they would upgrade me to fibreoptic for £10 a month (a fiver LESS than I'm paying now) and no set up fees.

In terms of customer service, I really don't see how it could be bettered.

Cannot believe how bad the service is. Sky Fibre quotes that i should be receiving 40MB - i recieve 3-4mb!!!!

So slow and when streaming off of Netflix or even browsing its painful.

Sky do not care, I wish i never changed from Virgin Media.

Ironically trying to write this review but struggling due to the speed of Sky broadband. Would never recommend this provider to anyone!! The speed is awful, service shoddy, reliability terrible! I find the diagnosic page infuriating whenever the connection is down. Then there is the two hour wait to speak to an actual human being, how then just tells you to try turning it on and off again! Rubbish! I recommend spending a few extra pound a month to actually be able to access the Internet

We have been with Sky for less than 12 months and there is not one aspect of the service that has been okay. The installation was terrible, damage to our property and the engineer dumped the Sky box and router in their boxes on the floor and didn't set anything up.

The broadband has been the worst. You struggle to speak to anyone and when you do they tell you there is nothing wrong and basically that you are lying. The signal drops out all of the time and when it is working it's very very slow.

I asked to cancel but we are stuck for 18 months! I said okay but put a flag on the account so that it doesn't auto-renew and they refused.

I would strongly urge anyone to go elsewhere as the service you will receive for the expensive monthly payments will make you wish you had chosen Virgin.

    Awful company.

Sky started off pretty well, but the last few months have been nothing but trouble.

My line is capeable of 10mbit. When I had Pipex in the early days, it ran happily at that. When I moved to Sky they informed me that my maximum was 8. Not true, but at that speed, fine, I'll just live with it.

Not long after that they mysteriously upped the cost of my broadband, with no warning. I phoned and asked what was going on and the Indian man (who claimed his name was John, HA) insisted this was correct. I then mentioned we have a letter that guaranteed the price until January 2010. He quickly changed the price back down and apologised. However, come January 2010 they immediately put the price back up.

During this time I have had constant periods of disconnection. These range from 2 minutes (enough to disrupt a game) to 2 hours (enough to disrupt an entire work schedule). Upon phoning tech support and speaking to 'John', the Indian man on the other end, we spent 35 minutes diagnosing the issue. He was not interested in the exact error (which the router supplied), but the colour of the blinking light. Eventually he said there was a line fault and a BT engineer has been dispatched. Why couldn't we have gotten to this in the first place, rather than resetting routers and looking at blinking lights?

More recently Sky has taken to giving me horrendous quality connections. Whilst the speed is fine once connected (sometimes), connecting to games, videos and even websites is an utter nightmare. Ping tests showed my ping to be a full 1 second (1000ms). Upon phoning Sky they insisted it wasn't on there end, and offered no help to resolve the issue.

Eventually I had had enough and phoned and demanded my MAC address. They put me through to an English speaking call centre (how nice of them to only give you English speakers when you want to leave) who said they could not fix the errors with my line, but would offer me £5 off and match O2s price. But then I'd still have a broken connection, for the same price as my preferred ISP?

Eventually they decided to post me my MAC, rather than email or SMS it, I presume to keep me on the service for that extra few days.

To sum up: Avoid. Connections aren't fast, quality is terrible, customer support is incompetent and doesn't speak English.

Where to start? Even by Skys own admission that our internet has been problematic for 3 months = but they don't know why and can't fix it! AVOID SKY at all costs I'd say. I have had to buy a 4G hot spot device and contract with Three just to use my email at home. Mind you at least I can use it while I wait for another company to come in and set up , the cancel SKY for good. Utterly useless!

Customer service is non-existant during COVID (I understand these are difficult times, but complete absence of customer support is not acceptable). Broadband drops on average twice a day which made working from home during lockdown frustrating on a daily basis. If you're working on the computer and another member of the household uses the wifi at the same time the computer speed goes to a crawl.

Absolutely rubbish service, my speed is always lower than average as I live too far from the exchange and the fibre in the village is over subscribed so no chance of getting that.
Try to do diagnostics on sky website is a nightmare, I try and do a test and it says I`m not a customer,WHAT!!!! I`m logged into my account for Christ sake. Customer services are always busy so can never get to talk to anyone. I know the line isn't theirs but for the price of the line rental,i would expect a better connection.
Seriously thinking of packing it all in.

What a joke sky is. Meant to get up to 38 but on average getting 17-20 which is not what I'm paying for and they really don't care. When you call they get you to do all the work to try and sort it out which again is a joke.
Tell you what sky as I'm only getting half of what I'm paying for how about I only pay half ?

Internet service is worse than anywhere i know on the planet, i had faster speeds on mobile devices over 10 years ago when it was 2g! The internet as the base of mount Everest in the middle of nowhere is about 15-18 times faster, i strongly recommend never even letting sky cross your mind when considering an isp!

Speed is a sixth of what other providers are claiming on fibre. Our Fibre connection is provided via BT's network. The speed is really poor at present for some reason of late the fibre speed rarely gets above 20mb

Honestly one of THE WORST experiences I have ever had with a company of such supposed stature.
A painfully annoying sales woman sold me a pretty reasonable deal, promising an early activation of my phone line and broadband - this was of absolutely tantamount importance due to large deadlines at work that required evening working from home.

They moved back that deadline without informing me by a week so I had to use a hotspot at great personal cost.

When they finally came to fit the broadband, they realised they couldn't actually offer me fibre and I've have to go through the entire process again.

Genuinely considering ending my contract our of principle.

Shocking service, shocking delivery. Avoid these money grabbing shysters at all costs.

Broadband speed hasn't been bad at all, if i did have an issue (once), their tech team were really helpful. i live quite far away from the actual box so what i get is very responsible

Customer service is within the UK, least everyone i have spoken to have been. I see this as a good thing, keeping jobs within the UK. NOT for any other reason before someone gets soft.

Called within a view of leaving as Vodafone seemed to have a better deal. Called Sky and within minutes i was offered a package with a discount of £120 for the year. taking into account the contract time with Sky was less, i don't have to mess about at all with changing providers. I was pretty chuffed. Never had an issue with payment, can't see how you would with a DD. Service in comparison to TALKTALK is a dream. Wouldn't ever dream of using their services again.

Made phone call to sky today on behalf of my friend as his contact was nearing its end, during the call the account holder stated that the bill was going to be high as he is on UC (increases) just at this my friend said I may have to go elsewhere in a very polite manner) the reply was simple " you have to return the box, leads and remote" WOW you would realy think they would want to keep long term existing customers and who have never failed once on their bills, for this I would never reccomend any 1 going to join sky.

Do not touch with a bargepole. I agreed a deal for 18 months & they honoured it for one month. It then increased by 25%. All they want is your money the agreed deal does not matter to them. Have canceled contract from its end & will never use them again. Broadband speed on FTTP seemed no faster than FTTC with Plusnet.
