I switched from BT to First Utility less than a month ago based on a recommendation of the scouts they've set up at Currys PC world. I was told their service was just as good as BT but cheaper. The boradband service is absolute trash I've complained a few times.BT actually warned me about the service and they were damn right. Now it will cost me more because if my wifi speeds doesn't improve to the BT levels I'll pay off the rest of the contract and leave them, can't survive this rubbish service for another 17 months. The frustration will kill me.
nobody should move to them just because they have cheaper prices, their service is also cheap trash.

Really poor speeds- average 13.34 Mbps. Rude and aggressive customer service people when you dare to complain to them. Unreliable service which drops out for anything from a few minutes to 3 hours. Avoid like the plague.

We are 2 weeks in with Shell Energy and I wish we had never signed up. Their internet constantly drops out (if using facetime/ wifi calling you will get cut off which actually happened on the call to them). Speeds are averaging 1-3 mbps not the 35 mbps promised, despite having no problems with other providers and being signed up to faster fibre also. Customer service non existant, no attempt to fix just bully you by saying an engineer can be called but you will be charged £120 if not their fault- how is this proved & why I am being blamed. They are not providing a service and don't escalate. Just don't sign up and spread the word

Disappointed with Vodafone Broadband's False Promises and Lack of Customer Service

I recently received an enticing email from Vodafone Broadband, promising an upgrade to my broadband service at no extra cost, along with £100 in Amazon vouchers. Excited about the offer, I eagerly awaited a text to schedule an appointment, as stated in the email. However, over two months have passed, and I've yet to receive any communication regarding the upgrade or vouchers.

Frustrated by the lack of action, I reached out to Vodafone's customer service, only to be met with confusion. None of the representatives seemed to have any knowledge of the offer, and instead, they attempted to sell me a new contract without honoring the promised vouchers.

What's more disheartening is discovering that new customers are effortlessly offered the same £100 vouchers simply by switching online through comparison sites like uSwitch. It's evident that Vodafone values acquiring new customers over rewarding loyalty.

As a loyal customer who received a promising offer via email, it's incredibly disappointing to be left in the dark and denied the benefits promised. Vodafone's failure to deliver on their commitments and their lack of transparency regarding existing customer rewards have severely tarnished my perception of their broadband service.

In conclusion, Vodafone Broadband's false promises and poor handling of customer inquiries have left me thoroughly dissatisfied. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment and transparency, but unfortunately, Vodafone has failed to deliver on both fronts.

Avoid Shell Energy at all costs. My problems began when my Post Office telephone account was transferred to Shell Energy. They have difficulty in posting out invoices/bills after they have been printed. For example, the latest bill sent to me was dated 22 April 2022 and it said payment was due by 09 May 2022. Very reasonable until they delayed posting the bill to me. I received it on 10 May 2022, one day after the specified payment date!
I took the bill to my local Post Office on the 10 May and used the bar code on the payment slip plus my debit card to pay whatever was required. I have a receipt from the Post Office to confirm the payment.
I received a text message from Shell Energy Broadband on Friday 13 May at 16:24 threatening to suspend my phone service - this has persuaded me to change suppliers. Another threatening text arrived yesterday claiming that I owe them £6.42. I cannot wait until my new provider takes over.

Been stuck with them for over a year. Broadband speed very slow (8mbps - should be getting 35+). They said there was nothing wrong with it. Eventually I got fed up and paid for BT put in another line. BT coming down at 35 - 45 Mbps. turned out the First Utility engineer had split the wires when connecting the service which led to their dodgy speed. First utility customer service not interested so I paid up the contract and left. Absolutely useless customer service, terrible broadband - I will never use them again.

Currys PC World sold me Shell's broadband package on 29/04/23.
I had a confirmation email from Shell that my Internet service will go live on 17/05/23. They sent me the router on 13/05/23 but they didn't send the optical network terminal (ONT) neither booked an engineer to set up the router.
I've contacted their customer service on 15/05/23 (23mins) call to inform them that they still need to send the ONT and booked an engineer. The staff I've spoken to guarantee me that somebody will ring for this matter.... nobody rang.
On 17/05/23 I rang 5 times to their customer service, I've been transferred from different department each time I rang and ended up spending in total 2hrs 29mins on the phone repeatedly explaining that I had no service because they missed to send the ONT and engineer to set up the service. Later that day, they sent me an estimated bill of £51.00 to pay by direct debit.
On 18/05/23 I rang again several times without any information to when they expect to send the engineer or why they didn't send it in the first place. After being so tired of repeating myself, I decided to cancel their non existing service at 11:51 on the same date for the sake of my time and sanity.
On 22/05/23 I had a call from their loyalty department (I think) asking me if I was enjoying the service. On the same date I received an email from support+id19147458@serl.zendesk.comcancellation with the below information:
"As you’re ending your contract within your minimum period, you’ll receive an early termination charge. We estimate this to be £321.92 and will be included in your final bill"

RUN AWAY FROM SHELL BROADBAND. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NIGHTMARE AND DISENGAGED.

I was told at the point of renewal after 1 year that if I did not move provider within 24 hours I would automatically default onto another years contact. The shell representative said it didn’t work like mobile phone contracts, where you defaulted onto a month by month rate. They said it’s in the T+C’s which it wasn’t. When I asked for her name she accused me of abusing her and hung up. 8 weeks later and I’m told on a Sunday lunchtime the matter has been resolved internally but no details enclosed and the matter is closed.

Recently replaced Talk Talk with Shell Broadband - big mistake.
The router has no WPS button so I could not connect it to my mother's TV at the other end of the house.
With previous broadband providers, we used the WPS button to connect an extender halfway between the router and the TV. After being given the runabout over 6+ calls I've finally been told that the WPS button will not work on their router. But because the wi-fi is working in the house that's no reason to cancel the service. What a cheek! I'll be cancelling Shell asap and will go to court if necessary.

Been on phone for 2 hours waiting for an operator. Don't think customer services for Shell broadband actually exists. If they are having an high volume of calls then they are having a high volume of problems. They have not contacted me in any way about broadband cost or any contract I have to adhere to for which I have not agreed to yet. Terrible service in comparison to Post office

Customer service is absolute useless. I was on the phone for an hour then cut off resulting in me wasting an hour of my time. Called again and still nothing for over an hour. Once you do get through to someone it is an Asian call handler I had to constantly ask to repeat themselves as I had no idea what they was saying. Moved over from Post Office Telecoms which were a lot better compared to this rubbish company.

Tried to sign up online but had an error saying my phone number wasn’t recognised with my address so called to sign up. Thank goodness i did as their customer service is just appalling. Rude and bored sounding person on the other end who tried to tell me I didn’t need a landline then when I said I did told me about a much more expensive product and said that was all I could have. I asked her to clarify and she told me I couldn’t have any package and hung up!! Honestly dreadful. Avoid avoid avoid.

Absolute joke of a company with incompetent customer service staff.
Been waiting 16days for my broadband to be fixed, two engineers sent out and diagnosed the same problem, being the router, shell still haven’t sent a new router.
God forbid you try and get in touch with the ‘technical team’ you’ll be on hold for most of the day and when you finally do get through, it’s like Groundhog Day explaining the same sh*t over and over, programmed robots!

It’s ok though my neighbour saved the day and has allowed me to share their broadband whilst the issue is ongoing, theirs is SKY by the way and it is amazing! How f’king embarrassing is that shell! That sky have had to bail you out for how bad you are! Pathetic!

#ofcom should strike them off as a supplier company, absolute joke!

Complete Garbage. After offering you 6 months 'free' broadband, they then decide to charge you and threaten to ruin your credit rating if you dont pay up. Terrible way to treat now ex loyal energy customers. Of course I will now be ditching them as an energy customer. The bunch of scammers wont get anything from me for the 'free' broadband. They then called me yesterday and didnt even answer the phone for some lunatic reason. Passive aggressive bunch of idiots arent they. Probably because i contacted Ofgem and asked for a deadlock letter from Shell. Don't let these crooks push you around.

Utter shambles. Signed up because they promised low cost and high quality. They deliver the opposite. "Guaranteed 67mbps" lol, actula is about 10. on their own speed checker. Repeated complaints confirm this. What do they do? Nothing. Prequent disconnections, slow and unreliable. Now lets talk about charges. Signed up at £24 a month. It wont stay at that, after three months up to £28, more price increaces coming. They say they have to put prices up, its a scam, their web signups are still advertising £24 a month. Dont buy into it.

I will try and give a fair review and am only stating facts. I signed for 18 month contract because of the deal they were doing. Broadband speed was slow and disconnected intermittently. I was not home most of the time, but I required access to files sometimes when I was away and could not get access to them, so I knew the broadband was down. I went one month over my contract and the gentlemen that I spoke to was very calm (I guess he has done this before). He said because I have gone past my contract and that I wanted to leave and there was nothing wrong with the service that I would have to pay £15 I had never heard of that before, so I said no, I've given you an extra month because I forgot and you are going to charge me £15, for which I refused. He said that he would pass the debt on the to the debt collection agency and proceeded with my cancellation. He also stated that the services would be disconnected after midnight and they were disconnected at 20:15. I personally will not be using their services in the future, even if they are the cheapest. So please terminate your contract within the contract period at the right time or a £15 charge will be coming towards you, or in my case the debt collection agency. This is all written in the 28 page contract agreement, which you can find on their website.

Utter nonsense. I was tempted in by low prices, but dont be fooled, those prices will be jacked up within a month or two. In combination with a truly terrible intenet service, was promised 70mbps downloads in truth its about 4 or 5mbps, which is a tiny fraction of advertised, and a wifi signal that drops out hourly for random amounts of time, it really is an utter waste of money. was previouslt with sky at same address, never had these issues.

Absolutely ridiculous excuse of a company! They tried to charge me £84 for a missed engineer appointment which I was in for. I spoke to so many people through live chat and by calling customer service and they kept saying it was sorted but nothing got sorted. This issue started at the end of January and has just about been sorted today. They said all they could offer was an apology because of how disorganised this company is. Avoid!!

DREADFUL company, apparently switched by Uswitch, loads of agro as when I moved to my new property there was no landline & cottage needed rewire & refurb. This meant that shell could not & did not supply any service. Since then Ive been hounded for connection fees.
    Now with the Ombudsman.
In my opinion this company is beyond belief in their lack of customer service. Advice dont touch.

I had to cancel the broadband service due to my late mother passing away.
Upon cancelling it was fine. There was no mention of additional fees etc.
After 1 month I received a final bill for early cancellation fee charges. This was due to stoppinf the contract before 12 months.
I called Shell and waited for 45 minutes. Upon answering I explained the reason for cancelling.
They didn't care so clearly it's all about the money.
I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Awful.

Utterly useless. Worst internet provider I have ever experienced. And I use the term provider in the loosest sense of the term, as they provide very little. Signed up to 70mbps deal which promises a minimum of 40 at any time. Here's what I get: download on Steam or blizzard servers, on an ethernet cable connected desktop, plugged directly to the router, 1mbps download speed. Absolute peak connection speed I have seen on anything, was on the PS4 speed test, max 3.5 Mbps. You can forget gaming with shell internet. I drop out completely at least once an hour. You can barely browse the internet. Forget online auctions, you wont stay connected long enough. What they are delivering isn't even 5% of what was promised. Utter shambles. Do not use.

Terrible, 4 weeks after they said they would connect and still haven't connected me. Internet worked fine with other company and they haven't come to fix whatever they are pretending is wrong, poor manners on phone and they even threatened to hang up the call after I said I'd be losing a complaint. They have even charged meand are not rewinding me for the pleasure of wasting hours of my time and money for 0 Internet after waiting 4 weeks. Someone needs to sue these jokers.

The department that sends out bills for broadband needs an urgent overhaul due to me receiving my last two bills AFTER the payment due date. Even though I paid the bills the following day after receiving them Shell has the cheek to send me letters telling me my broadband account is overdue. Today’s overdue letter is dated 2/7/22 today’s date is the 20/7/22. When I rang Customer Service to complain I was told it was due to the Post Office I disputed this and was advised that there is a problem. I’m sure I cannot be the only person affected.

Lost connection, didn't find help all that could be said is we will get someone out in a week to see the problem. Couldn't tell me if there a problem on the line or works but did say it would not be the router.

Well they started poor, and ahve not got much better. Regular 12mbs Fast broadband, for over a week the max speed I had was 1.2mbs, then I had 3 days of 12mbs before it all came crumbling down, for the last 5 days I have when I have been able to connect speeds measuring around .2mbs and even one that returned as low as 67kbs. All with hardwired connection to router. Still no response from Shell. If I had know they were a talktalk reseller would not have joined.

Please avoid this company. I originally just had gas and electric through Shell (which was First Utility then) and I've had no problems with that. I received an email offer to join their super amazing brilliant broadband... Which I fell for. It's only a little cheaper than my previous provider.

The broadband drops all the time, unable to connect more than one device. I've had an open complaint for around 2 months now and still not resolution. They've sent me 2 replacement routers that are meant to be the best they have. It's made no difference.

There's no online account service for broadband which makes things difficult. The email responses are slow and repetitive. Usually reply with "please confirm this is what you're asking" although I couldn't have been clearer in my complaints. Feel it's just constant delay tactics to deter you from continuing with a complaint.

Terrible service all around, will never use again.
