All was fairly satisfactory, until I received notification from talktalk that I had incurred in a penalty for cancelling my contract. Since I never did cancel my contract, I had to invest 2 hours of my life talking to costumer service, only to find out that another service provider had contacted talktalk and told them that I had switched to them (which I never did). Talktalk had believed this other provider, I don't know how, and had charged me with the penalty nonetheless, saying that I will be refunded if I agree to a further contract with them. Seeing this as my only choice, I agreed. I am currently awaiting said refund. I felt scammed by both talktalk and this other provider.

I am leaving a review for talk talk due to my experience with talktalk homesafe. my stepdad recently had issues accessing a lot of legit websites due to homesafe. it turns out it had been turned on without his knowledge and he had not authorised it. the process to actually turn homesafe off is also very convoluted and left my stepdad very frustrated. why are talktalk adding security measures without asking for consent?

Broadband speeds and reliability not bad very cheap 65mps for £22

The problems start when you have to contact talk talk. Their overall customer service is appalling an arduous task and you are always going round in circles repeating the same information over and over and over and over again

So, after my partner has suffered long periods of lack of accessability to her NEW email, whilst my email (OLD STYLE) has functioned correctly, Now I cant get into mine and hers works fine!
The Changes introduced have been a disaster, without proper testing (Why should paying customers have to do the testing for these vital connections??)

Will move my accounts as soon as contract finishes, I cant cope with the lack of competence and availability of information.

Reading this thread it seems to me that the advice Talk Talk give is that our computers are changing settings (Ports and the like?) So, am I being sabotaged by my own computer?. I doubt it. This kind of thing happens a minimum once a year, and it goes away (accounts finally being readable) after some days. Does my computer self heal?

No recompense offered, by the way, even though service not received and no reply from the C E O`s desk either. Discraceful.

Easily the worst possible service for E-Mail, with no interest in individual problems, they are in a numbers game and they promote for new customers all the time instead of spending the money on good technical and support staff ... FORGET THEM!

Where do I begin? I switched from Sky to TalkTalk in Feb 2017, to get fibre broadband. They were a day late setting it up - no explanation. We immediately experienced "internet drop", and this was addressed. So far so good.

Since early March we've had consistently low download speeds, the lowest a few days ago was 0.29! I have had numerous phone conversations in the past three months and finally put them on notice a week ago - shape up or I quit with no termination fees.

For the past week we've had speeds ranging from 28 to 0.29. TT have finally suggested an engineer to come and "fix the issue". I'm not convinced and remain baffled, and frustrated, by these wild fluctuations.

The technical team staff - and I must have spoken to at least 8 different people over the past few months - have given me contradictory information; we've gone through every test from "ping" to "trace", we've changed the master socket. They've even sent a new router. None has made a difference.

The same ultimatum has been issued - the engineer, due 2nd June, fixes it - or we quit.

In the four years we were with Sky I never, ever, had to contact them about broadband speed.

Would I recommend TT? What do you think?

Cheap and quite good UNTIL something goes wrong - then it's a nightmare dealing with customer service. Fragmented, Patronising and too much reliance on scripted systems and polices. Plus not being able to speak to the same person twice.

The worse customer service i ever experienced. Poor understanding of English. Make it difficult as poss to cancel account. Don't answer their phone. When you ask to cancel account they want your family to take over your account. Keep you on hold forever on a premium rate number. I still haven't cancelled, although i stopped payments. Now i get monthly invoices for a service which has been stopped and still can't get through to cancel the account. I now owe over £70 for services i don't receive and it keeps increasing. STAY CLEAR!!

All pretty much OK except the price goes up after your contract ends and they hide all the deals they have on from you! literally look on there website while logged in it says £34.00 P/M then go incognito or on a different browser 25.00 for the same package. They only care for new customers and won't let you in on the good deals when your a long term customer, make sure you phone them and speak to a person and haggle!

Very cheap broadband that was reliable and reasonably quick for the money. However their customer service is awful, beyond awful! They refused to cancel my contract despite passing the 12.months, one customer service advisor said they would write off a debt but didn't so they kept invoicing me. I called again to get them to write it off as promised butthe next advisor (who was allegedly a manager), said " if I can, I already did" the conversation then turned into an English grammar lesson to establish what she meant. Avoid them like the plague and go to sky, so much better and cheaper at Carphone Warehouse.

I have regretted joining talk talk. I have been having problems with my internet for a couple of days and nobody at talk talk is able to solve the issue. An engineer was sent over to my house only to tell me it has escalated and BT needs to fix it. Very poor service. Never will I advice anyone to join talk talk. Very unsatisfied and angry. Definitely not worth it

only switched to Talktalk from advice given to me from staff at PCworld/currys after purchasing new laptop. was given ‘advice’ by sales staff who stated my new laptop would work better with talktalk ..

shouldve stayed with Sky as i had never experienced any network or connection issues.. talktalk does not work during peak times.. ie mon-fri 4pm-6pm and saturday around 2pm. im still within 14 days of joining- so i will be cancelling within next couple days.

Been with TT for several years. Thought it was time to look into the service as paying for 38 fibre and lately getting cutting out of internet and slow speeds. Tested on the BB site and its 22. So I m disappointed now,I realise all the distance to box stuff but isn t it about time they improved the service especially when my friend has excellent speeds from virgin. Why do we have to put up with this, speed governed by distance to green box, and old phone lines? Never had much to do with the service, as I'm told you speak to foreign people who read from scripts. That's not on either. I was happy enough a few years ago but think its time for a change.

Well friends. Had a few online chats with talk talk about thier/mine faster fiber and guess what, everything was working fine!!! but of course it was except the advertised 30 something or 40 something mps that I am paying for is only 8 mps and that`s where the little note about speeds in your area come into play. So why can I still upgrade to something I can never get?? I have no problem with speeds for emails and stuff its quick and only fails sometimes! its the tv buffering that drives me up the wall. The exchange is only 0.6 miles away and the street cabinet is 300 ish yards away.
If I am moaning away then please advice. I PAY £33 ish a month which include having my land line on incoming calls only.

Avoid this company at all cost !!!!! I paid my bill late in January and February as my husband was not working. I paid the late fee which was £12 a month. I have been up to date with my bills since but on the 1st of may I got a debt company letter saying I owed money. I checked back through my bills and contacted talk talk who stated I don’t owe any Money. Talk talk said that the debt company thing will be removed from my records and will take 7 days . This never happened so I called they put me in touch with a manager who apologised and said will keep me updated and will call me 3 days later . 3 days later happened and guess what they didn’t call ! I had to call to find out what was going on to be told it was being rescheduled for the next day . The next day happened and yet again nothing from talk talk . I called to find out what was going on and to ask why i haven’t received any calls from them …….. they’re response as always “don’t worry’ . I called on day 8 as the debt thing was still on my account and then got told it was a error and it’s going to the back office to be dealt with and will take 3 days. Today is day 4 I contacted them again today to find out it’s still not been sorted! I completely give up with this company. I have been lied to so many times spoken to rude customer advisors. I don’t see why is so hard to just do what you say

The broadband speed and reliability is excellent. But, and it is a big but, their customer service is awful. I have a 18 month fixed price contract, but talktalk have increased the monthly charge. Their customer agent could not understand what fixed rate meant. They could only suggest that I could cancel the contract. But I only have a limited time, otherwise there is a cancellation fee. Best avoid this company. There are more honourable companies out there.

If you're looking for a cheap mobile deal, do NOT go with talk talk. Their coverage is practically useless. Where I work, I have to walk around the building looking for a spot where I can make calls (I work in Huddersfield). When I visit head office, I have zero coverage all day, no matter where I am. I have to wait until I'm 2 miles on to the motorway before I get any signal. And then it's intermittent.
I'd hate to think what would happen if I needed to make an emergency call! Someone could die by the time I got a signal.
Oh... and their broadband deal! I paid up front for 12 month subscription. And now they increased the price so I only get 11 months for my payment! Anyone know who I should complain to?

My overall experience with talktalk was pretty good at the start. was with them for 3 years before i decided to change as fibre broadband wasnt available so i switched to virgin. i was discussion the transfer with customer services and they chose not to provide me with the date i was asking for and instead bombarding me with misleading explanations that it was all okay. They was trying to charge me a whole month for 2 days of usage due to a billing date rule. They was not helping me even though i still at the time remained a talktalk customer. I was planning on returning after a year but i am now quite reluctant.

Talk talk is highly reliable (never drops connection for me) BUT is very cheap for a reason. I get 1.7mb maximum and is far too slow for gaming or youtube. I usually don't even get 1mb according to Steam and it takes at least 1 minute to load any simple webpage. Other people I know have the same problems, just avoid it if you want your internet to load within the day.

The internet continued to cut off every 5 minutes. TalkTalk clearly hadn't informed their customer support staff, that they were experiencing server issues, this I only later found out by checking downdetector. All the customer support could provide were menial tips such as restarting the router and multiple failed speed tests for finally to tell me the problem was my router when one speed test succeeded. The problem hadn't been solved and continued for the rest of the night. Now I have been issued a charge of £5.03 on my account for TalkTalk basically wasting my time, which is not good customer service. They could simply have informed me that they were experiencing countrywide issues, so I wouldn't have wasted time and money. To add insult to injury they tried to get me to sign up for a security service.

If you don't need to contact Taltalk, everything is OK!

My Mother-in-Law was moved to a care home. She wrote to cancel the contract & cancelled the direct debit. Nothing happened. She emailed them. I emailed them - twice. They - after 2 months - disconnected the phone.

4 months later she is still getting bills - including advance line rental!

If you phone them - the call centre is in India and their accent makes them almost um-intelligable.
They just read from a check list and are stumped if you ask them something that is not on their answer sheet.

When this is (eventually) sorted, I abandon my own Talktalk contract. Trouble is, no one else gets a much better rating!

Cheap for a reason. Stuck with them for three years and was fine when the system worked but if there was a fault it went on for days with life-wasting time spent going through the same problem with very polite operatives with not a technical clue to their names. They lost my emails, couldn't retrieve them, couldn't find them and dropped my internet which involved re-booting the router too many times. I finally gave them up and they told me for two days there was a fault when they'd actually cancelled my service - a case of left and right hands not even on the same body......You definitely get what you pay for and I wouldn't bother with TT.

Sadly they seem to use the same non-UK based call centres as BT. The staff are clearly following a script and have very little technical knowledge and no idea of customer service. I spent over an hour repeating myself and getting more and more frustrated. The customer loyalty team where UK based and much more knowledgeable and trained in dealing with customers and so much more helpful. I had exactly the same experience with BT. I will be moving to another provider as soon as my contract ends.

DNS servers slow at times bad, very bad, customer service. Spam not checked or blocked. Web mail has had problems. Says speed is 37mb but feels more like 15mb. Cost is reasonable in comparison but not so good service.

Changed to Talktalk as they promised better speeds in this area as they had their equipment in the Richmond Exchange. Have noticed no improvement - still less than 1Mb download and .25 Mb upload. Snails pace remains.

Had the internet set up on the 22nd december and was told by a member of talk talk that no payments would be taken until 5 or so weeks when we get our first bill, we had a direct debit set up for the 25th of every month, i knew the first bill would be higher due to a £6.75 router fee buts thats all i was expecting.
On the 8th of December iv checked my bank account and im minus £26.20 from talk talk! Just rang them up and they are sayings its the router charge and the bill for 3 days. I dont think this is acceptable as this was not an arranged date for a bill and no notice was given, they said an email was sent to me but iv just doubled checked and there wasent.
Im really annoyed with talk talk as theres lack of communication and information between staff and talk talk staff are giving me information like when my payments due but when i speak to another member of staff they tell me somthing compleytly different.
All i got off talk talk was a poorly spoken sorry and £5 off my next bill
I dont think that helps as im £26 down anyway as il be getting another bill in 2 weeks
Money grabbers they even charge £1.50 for letters to be sent to me about bill notifcations

Security !! is my problem. In order to have a TalkTalk account I needed a "my account". The system at TT required me to do the normal password ID check. It would not work, after speaking to 12 people in the Philippines and spending a total of 3hr 28m on the phone, over 13 days. I was asked to clear cookies, history, different search engines, fix my windows 10, clear cache. stand on head, move my computer upstairs, I nearly gave up ! Then on the last call the my account was made to work, by giving the girl in the Philippines my choice of password, she keyed it in, at her end, I then received an email saying "congratulations you have changed your password". I then entered my em and password and I was into the system "my account" and it worked. THE Philippines HAS MY PASSWORD !!! I could nut create it. THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE TO REPORT IT. I COULD NOT ACCESS ANYONE IN THE UK TO TELL. NO POINT OF TELLING THE PHILIPPINES ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

Overall not the best, would prefer virgin if in my area. Customer service helpful but no continuity.
Broadband speed is poor and varies regularly.
Broadband will go off at varying times causing frustration.

Very disappointed with talk talk of late . Wrong or missing equipment sent for upgrade left us without Internet for almost a week. Now for a second time we have no Internet. Never known anything like it . Am sure I will still be charged full price though despite not being provided with a full service . How does this happen ?? Its 2020 not 1999! On dial up . Ridiculous for such a large company . Will never recommend them.

We are new customers and the broadband system works perfectly for us. but we have been trying for 3 weeks to register in my account in order to access our invoices and services. Talk talk has my email registered where they send me the payment note that I have to make but I can not register in my account. When at the time of registering income my landline number and my account number sometimes offers me the possibility of going to the next step where in my email I receive a 6-digit code that I write in the corresponding box, never later than 1 minute and always the answer is that I can not continue because it has expired. On several other occasions he says he does not recognize my email. I've been talking on online chat for hours and they have not been able to solve me. Also by phone on 3 occasions and they tell me that they have to raise an escalation to the service to resolve in 24 hours and it did not work and I did not receive any email back. In seems that the system is blocked. How can I solve?

Probably the worst broadband provider I've used in almost 20 years. I'm suppose to be getting upto 67 mbps but never had over 30 in the 3 months I've been with them usually only around the 19-23 maps most of the time. A total waste of time ringing them as there call centre is is South African based and although they English speaking still very hard to understand and never get anything done about the low speeds. Best to just let the contract run till the end and go back to BT.

No problems until it came to the end of my contract. I called to cancel & they didn't cancel it. A week later I had e-mails advising I owed money as I had been put on to a new contract without my knowledge. Had to talk to 4 different people, some calls over 2 hours as I got passed around.

Shocking customer service & staff who clearly require further training. Disappointing end to an actually hassle free year of broadband.
