Had the misfortune of being sold Shell Broadband by Currys. I really wish I had trusted my instinct and walked away from this. I do NOT recommend the service to anyone. It was installed on 7th August and by 8th August I have cancelled. I have had to pay an early termination fee which I see as deplorable. The customer service was atrocious from the moment I made calls on the day of install. Avoid at all costs. It cost me £300 to terminate early and although it is painful - it is the right decision. Don’t touch this with a barge pole!

In the last two days trying to get assistance with the Shell Customer service is a joke, only yesterday I spent 2 hours trying to get a problem solved and today just the same, their service stinks.

    AVOID
This was the worst broadband experience I have ever had in my entire nearly 40 years long life.
Avoid Shell energy as a provider. They have a micro additional charge for everything. They lack basic services like changing a name on a contract. Customer care doesn't even listen to you when you query something. There was no single day when the internet would just break for some period of time. Often restarting the router wouldn't do anything. Speed was pathetic up to 6Mbs while promise was 20Mbs. also the cost £31 pm for an absolute joke of a service. I am immensely relieved I can cancel. Never looked forward to changing the provider so eagerly.
At the end you also have to post back the router.

I have been trying to close an account for an elderly relative and I can honestly say Shell is THE worst company at providing customer support. I have been fobbed off, transfered between teams scattered across the globe at various call centers. The final straw was having the phone put down on me by Bori a customer complaints team member apparently in their Bosnian call center, after being told to 'Get to the point'. Do yourself a favour avoid this shower. Makes me glad I'm with Plusnet - always polite, effective and timely in resolving issues unlike Shell!

I was with Shell Energy broadband and switched from them to a new service provider because I was not happy with their service. They continued to charge me after I had switched and when I questioned this they told me that my new service provider did not tell them of my switch so it was their fault and that they were totally responsible for the sum I had incurred. However, having spoken to my new service provider they told me that as I had switched from a copper line to full fibre they would not have told shell as it would not be the same line. Meanwhile, Shell customer service stuck to their guns and told me basically that I must pay the bill. They were unsympathetic, and absolutely just wanted their money regardless of the fact that I had not been using their service for over a month. My new service provider was ever so kind and due to the way I was treated by Shell broadband offered me a discount on my next bill in kind which they were not even obliged to do. I am thankful for good-hearted people. That's what we need more of in the world.

Just came off the phone to shell rep. This being 4th call re returning a router. Frustration is at 100%. Still not being listened to properly. Has affected my credit rating due to inept staff. I need to ring them again but for my sanity not today. If I ever manage to make a complaint as so far every dealings with them has not resolved anything so I can't see being able to make a complaint going to be fruitful either. I shall contact them again. If my complaint is not dealt with accurately and in a timely manner will be going to the ombudsman.

AVOID at all costs not just monetary but for your sanity!!!!

Complete disgrace. After offering you 6 months 'free' broadband, they then decide to charge you and threaten to ruin your credit rating if you dont pay up. Terrible way to treat your now ex loyal energy customers. Of course I will now be switching energy companies. The bunch of scammers wont get anything from me for the 'free' broadband. They then called me yesterday and didnt even answer the phone for some random reason. Passive aggressive behaviour. i contacted Ofgem and asked for a deadlock letter from Shell. Don't let these people push you around.

Where do I start from? I was sold shell broad band whilst trying to leave talk talk, they promised to settle my cancellation fee and have now gone back on their words. I have decided not to leave talk talk and I call shell on day 14 only to be told i can nolonger leave, bear in mind I haven’t even gone live and only received router yesterday- still unboxed.
This is legit the most inconsistent, and insensitive service provider I have ever come across.
Shell I will drag you to court if I have to. You are not getting a penny off me!

I joined first utility that became shell energy. They failed to connect me on the set up day then I had to wait a further 5 days to be connected because of a phone line fault. The 14 days dissatisfaction starts from sign up so I was unable to leave without charge
My internet then dropped out completely within 2 months. I was advised to still unscrewing sockets on my wall as this was a phone line fault. At this point I paid £109 to lesve.Terrible service please save yourself the bother, cost and lack of internet provision.

Agreed a new 18 month contract with Shell Energy Broadband on 29th July '22. Already an existing customer out of contract, to entice me to enter a new 18 month contract I was offered various incentives over the phone by the retention's team; a low fixed monthly price of £23.99 for 65Mbps (including landline), a free month of broadband and line rental and a £30 bill credit on a new 18 month contract. When I received the new contract details in writing by email I had the foresight to email and ask why there was no mention of either the £30 bill credit or the free month of services. Along with the other standard terms and conditions the contract only confirmed that it would last 18 month and be at a monthly cost of £23.99 as agreed over the phone with their retentions team rep.
By return customer services did confirm in writing that my agreement did indeed include the aforementioned incentives. Thank goodness for this confirmation as they have welched on these incentives. It has taken a month of emails to get the £30 bill credit applied, however, I only have their word for this as the bill section of the website has been unavailable for days. They have so far refused to comment on the free month, ignoring all emails and messages which reference the matter. They have even closed the case because they say the matter is resolved. They have failed to provide the requested deadlock letter so I can pursue the matter with the Ombudsman arbitration service. Their latest method of dealing with the matter is to not respond to messages at all.

it's clear from previous messages that a possible cause is that different people are constantly handling cases and do not read account notes or even attempt to understand what requires action. You never actual get a message signed with a real person's name. Each response from them comes without the previous correspondence, making it impossible to know which aspect of the complaint they are actually responding to. It is impossible to tell if this is deliberate or just plain incompetence. Either way I will wait the eight weeks from when I first raised the complaint on 14th September and pursue the matter with the Ombudsman. As they are in breach of contract I will also explore with the Ombudsman whether I can move to another without penalty, rather than entertain these charlatans for the full 18 months.
Should you be considering this company for your broadband requirements take my advice. When the service is all working and you don't need to contact customers services then its fine. However, should anything go wrong, then you're truly on your own in a process designed to frustrate customers rather than resolve issues.

Currys PC World sold me Shell's broadband package on 29/04/23.
I had a confirmation email from Shell that my Internet service will go live on 17/05/23. They sent me the router on 13/05/23 but they didn't send the optical network terminal (ONT) neither booked an engineer to set up the router.
I've contacted their customer service on 15/05/23 (23mins) call to inform them that they still need to send the ONT and booked an engineer. The staff I've spoken to guarantee me that somebody will ring for this matter.... nobody rang.
On 17/05/23 I rang 5 times to their customer service, I've been transferred from different department each time I rang and ended up spending in total 2hrs 29mins on the phone repeatedly explaining that I had no service because they missed to send the ONT and engineer to set up the service. Later that day, they sent me an estimated bill of £51.00 to pay by direct debit.
On 18/05/23 I rang again several times without any information to when they expect to send the engineer or why they didn't send it in the first place. After being so tired of repeating myself, I decided to cancel their non existing service at 11:51 on the same date for the sake of my time and sanity.
On 22/05/23 I had a call from their loyalty department (I think) asking me if I was enjoying the service. On the same date I received an email from support+id19147458@serl.zendesk.comcancellation with the below information:
"As you’re ending your contract within your minimum period, you’ll receive an early termination charge. We estimate this to be £321.92 and will be included in your final bill"

RUN AWAY FROM SHELL BROADBAND. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NIGHTMARE AND DISENGAGED.

How can I even begin to describe this plague. If I had to pick between another year of covid or another year of using this garbage I would pick covid. It is not worth paying money for. often the download speed drops to 3mbs and stays there. I feel like I'm back in 2010. I wish nothing but bad luck for the people responsible for this scam, the constant disconnects, buffering, IP switching, lag. third world countries I have visited had better wifi. I wish I was exaggerating. contract nearly over. finally.

I thought they were cheaper. I had joined them on 20 Sept. 2019. Great mistake. I reported a fault on my Landline SIX days ago. Nobody came to check, though was promised. The Broadband service the POOREST of all I had joined in the past. Connection very slow, it keeps on being cut off. I very much want to DITCH them before my contract ends, if they would let me leave them. Please, please. do not let them deceive you, do not make the mistake I had made. It is the WORST service one can find. I am dispatching to their Registered office, a copy of a BUNCH of REVIEWS by the DISSATISFIED customers. Hope they close down the Company. ----- HA NARAN

Disappointed with Vodafone Broadband's False Promises and Lack of Customer Service

I recently received an enticing email from Vodafone Broadband, promising an upgrade to my broadband service at no extra cost, along with £100 in Amazon vouchers. Excited about the offer, I eagerly awaited a text to schedule an appointment, as stated in the email. However, over two months have passed, and I've yet to receive any communication regarding the upgrade or vouchers.

Frustrated by the lack of action, I reached out to Vodafone's customer service, only to be met with confusion. None of the representatives seemed to have any knowledge of the offer, and instead, they attempted to sell me a new contract without honoring the promised vouchers.

What's more disheartening is discovering that new customers are effortlessly offered the same £100 vouchers simply by switching online through comparison sites like uSwitch. It's evident that Vodafone values acquiring new customers over rewarding loyalty.

As a loyal customer who received a promising offer via email, it's incredibly disappointing to be left in the dark and denied the benefits promised. Vodafone's failure to deliver on their commitments and their lack of transparency regarding existing customer rewards have severely tarnished my perception of their broadband service.

In conclusion, Vodafone Broadband's false promises and poor handling of customer inquiries have left me thoroughly dissatisfied. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment and transparency, but unfortunately, Vodafone has failed to deliver on both fronts.

Appalling customer service ,two months after moving suppier and sending our router back with a tracking label we recived a request to return router or incur a charge, having taken many phone calls to get a return label sent out to us we kept the receipt as proof of return and informed them as such.We now have to wait for the promised cheque for the £59 refund we are owed.Worst company we have ever had to deal with-Avoid!

I had no problems with the Post Office broadband. Since it's been with Shell I've had multiple dropouts. I've had several engineer's visits and poor cutsomer service. I'm supposed to get between 35 and 45 Mbs speed but it drops to as low as 11 Mbs. I complain and it's raised to 36 Mbs and a few days later it starts to creep down. I then have to spend the best part of 30 minutes on the phone trying to make contact with customer services, sometimes getting cut off during the wait and then ..... start all over again. They're cheating me and robbing me of the service I'm paying for. It's a breach of contract and now, after several weeks, I shall make my formal complaint to Ofcom

No problems when with the Post Office but now continual problems with Shell broadband speed and its continuity. I'm supposed to receive a speed between 35 Mbs and 45 Mbs. I get as low as 11 Mbs. I complain for which one has to wait around 30 mins for someone to answer the phone. I'm told that I must give 3 possible days when an engineer needs to visit but be prepared to be charged if I'm not at home but for which there is no reciprocal arrangement if the engineer doesn't turn up, which has happened to me. In fact the problem can be solved without an engineer's visit and this can be undertaken remotely. Then my speed is restored to around 36 Mbs (min for me should be 35) after which it is slowly decreased until I have to complain again. It seems like I'm being robbed of the service I pay for. As it can be quickly reset I believe that it is my ISP who is throttling my speed. Broken contract - new provider here I come.

I was previously a customer with the Post Office and had no problems at all with their efficient service. While I've been trying to write this review the line has dropped out and returned two times. My internet speed is only a quarter of the lowest speed I was previously receiving. I've complained to Shell Energy. They've accepted that the fault is not on my property but I was still asked to be at home for an engineer's visit. I was told that I would be charged £130 if no one was at home on the day. No engineer visited, nor did they tell me that his/her visit had been cancelled. The compensation doesn't work both ways and they are not in the compensation scheme that many of the other big broadband providers subscribe to. If you lose a days work waiting at home it just means that you need to take another day when they may want to call or not call as the case may be. Everytime I contact Shell Energy it takes about 25 minutes minimum for the line to be answered by a person. They've always been polite and I so have I but nothing happens. It may be an Openreach problem to solve but when I was with the Post Office and there was a line fault it was dealt with urgently and in any event my contract is with Shell Broadband. I'm looking for another service provider because they have breached the terms of the contract. Shell should stick to being an energy supplier because they are a complete failure with broadband as all these single star reviews suggest.

Avoid Shell Broadband like the plague. They have awful service with constant drops, they take months to even attempt to fix the issue, more than once they've tried gaslighting me on engineer visits that never happened and they have a very interesting interpretation of OfCom regulations. Like my grandad used to say "buy cheap, pay twice."

Not long switched to Shell Energy. Broadband received and after four days of Poor quality connection, low range router and speed, called to cancel, only to be told that I was outside of my 14 day cooling off Period when the contract was signed. Despite explaining that I’d only actually had the service four days ago / this was the case.

Spent ages on the phone trying to get this sorted, moving from department to department and in the end have given up trying to speak to anyone to resolve.

They have no customer advisors available - poor quality products and awful service. Reviewing options

The internet cuts out all the time. It's not my device as it happens across phone and laptop. Even when it does work, the speed is slow and it only really reaches the small front room where the router is.

Customer service is fairly good and helpful, however, customer service should be low down the list of desirables as ideally you shouldn't need it. Speed is ok. The biggest let down for First Utility is the frequency of broadband outages and disconnections. In terms of reliability they are appalling. This is why I have rated customer service quite high as I often need to contact them to ask why I have no connection!

Overall impression ... steer clear. Very unreliable.

A bunch of inept, incompetent crooks. Six weeks so far of internet dropping out over 50 times per day. This is despite two engineers coming out and 11 phone calls. Heaven knows how much time has been wasted here. Finally managed to cancel but but compensation despite clearly not delivering on their side of the contract. Save your time and energy and go with any internet provider other than Shell Energy. You have been warned …

Constantly drops out, even when it’s working you can’t even connect your phone, when complaints are made they have covered their crappy service in their t&cs, charge you to send an engineer if you refuse you’re liable for cancellation changes - even ombudsman won’t help because, as mentioned- they have covered themselves in the t&c... AVOID AT ALL COST

Never have I met such a totally inadequate customer service. Used the on-line chat-uselessm, was told I needed to ring. Spent hours listening to music, then told I needed to speak to Customer Service - that was who I had just rung !! That would be another 25 mins. at least. Never known such atrociuous service. I will make a claim for my wasted time.

Shell took over THE Postoffice Broadband. Since unable to reach sites i had been dealing with for years? No prior information or prior warning that maintenance, was been carried out. Hence no access to my broadband to carry out my daily Business with customers i have. Crap company.

They stole a month off the PO account we had.
Average wait for poor contact service an hour.
Email arrived on same day apologizing that it was late.
TOO LATE TO CANCEL ORIGINAL CONTRACT

Cancelled on same day as taking out new contract after yet another run around trying to speak to billing.

This company is a shambolic waste of space and you should avoid it completely.
