Thank you to all people who found time to vent their frustration, warning potential customers off Post Office broadband. I cancelled my order during the cooling off period and seem to have avoided an expensive bother for 18 months. Thank you. I took Vodafone instead and there doesn't seem any probs so far. PostOffice people on the phone didn't seem to understand what a "Ms" title is and, despite my spelling my surname using the well-heard of countries of the world, still got it wrong. The return bag for the router didn't arrive at first but second time was lucky.

Changed contract and they charged me £30 instead of £15. Fobbed off with "the contracts overlapped". Not good enough. With being disabled and the current situation we are all in with coronavirus, I can't afford £30 a month so if it's not back in my account next bill I will be cancelling and going elsewhere. Disgraceful!

After many years being with PO I decided to switch to a new provider ,Simply because they're cheaper and with PO every bill would be different or higher and hard to understand.Switching was supposed to be easy........I contacted my new supplier and soon after they gave me the date when my service will go live with them. .As I would always pay for 3 months upfront with post office broadband ,The bill they created was also for 3 months. broadband, I was advised by their customer service to not pay it and wait for the adjusted final bill for only 1 month....However I didn't receive the right bill and I was constantly harassed by post office to pay the total for 3 months! I phoned them to explain the situation and asked for the right bill. They kept sending me letters or phoning me that my bill is overdue, Intimidating that this will have an effect on my credit score and so on.....I decided to write a complaint and over the sudden, few days later I FINALLY got the proper bill! HURRAY!! ...But this is not the end of the story...... The letter I got yesterday ( 29.11.18) was for the right amount and to be paid by 8th December. Today (30.11.18) I GOT ANOTHER LETTER STATING THAT THEY STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE PAYMENT, AND THAT THE OUTSTANDING AMOUNT MUST BE PAID IMMEDIATELY?? I mean REALLY?? I had to ask and explain my bill for a month! and you're again intimidating me with your letters? The reason why the bill hasn't been paid yet is because YOU HAVE A MESS IN YOUR SYSTEM!!! how can you possibly send me one day the bill that should be paid within 9 days, and the next day the bill ordering to pay immediately?? NEVER AGAIN!!AVOID !!shame you cant add attachments to this review!! how you can send completely different statements in 1 day apart!

I want a reasonably quick broadband and home phone service that is not too expensive as I do not download music or videos. Just use for sending emails and looking information up on Google, occasionaly buying items on line. I AM NOT VERY COMPUTER SAVY !!!!!

I paid for an upgrade but to be honest, it's no different speed at all. The biggest problem with Post Office Broadband is the customer service.
It took me 3 frustrating months to gain access to my account online, They don't send paper bills so access online is vital. Kept sending me email telling me to log on to see my bill, despite informing them numerous times that the website repeatedly informed me that my details were incorrect. Then received email informing me that they had tried to call me but I wasn't answering, while I'm house bound and sitting right next to my phone which has never rung at the times they claim. I then received a letter informing me that I could change my password by using my account number.........which I don't' have and was not included in the letter, so once again unable to access my account. Very frustrating and wasted hours and hours of my time for a simple matter of them fixing the problem. I don't think we should be forced to use online for payment, we should have the choice of paper bills so that we don't have to deal with problems with their website.

absolutely awful avoid. My speed is less than 1Mb/s.at times. They blame BT.for limiting the amount or data they can snd down the line. About time Offcom, ASA and Trading Standards woke up

Similar to a number of other reviewers, my transfer from BT to Post Office broadband was a bit of a disaster. To their credit, their customer service folks did try to help, and I was refunded £20 for the inconvenience.

Once My service was established, my broadband speed deteriorated from the 6Mb/s I had with BT to 2Mb/s with Post Office, then gradually got worse until I hit 0.3Mb/s, resulting in more calls to their customer service folks. To their credit, their tech folks advised they subcon their lines from TalkTalk and admitted there was nothing they could do to help and as a result they would waive their cancellation fee, but I would need to go back to the main customer service folks to try to reclaim the years' line rental I'd paid in advance. Another £8 was credited to my account for the inconvenience.

Immediately thereafter my speed increased to 6 to 7 Mb/s, so I decided to stick with it. Alas this was only a blip lasting about a week before dropping back to the more usual 0.3 - 1.5 Mb/s speeds.

I've since stayed with them for the year (to get my money's worth for the line rental), and I am now leaving to go to Plus Net (fingers crossed for a better speed).

Contrary to many of the reviews, I found their customer service quite good - their folks seemed genuine and did their best to help. Unfortunately I cannot recommend them purely on their speed. BT used to provide me 6 Mb/s and are now offering up to 17 Mb/s on the same line. Post Office offered up to 8Mb/s but delivered substanially less. Personally I believe this is primarily down to TalkTalk who have not bought enough bandwidth to cope with the number of customers they have in the area, and Post Office customers suffer the same fate.

The router is deliberately configured to prevent the use of casting devices (Chromecast etc) and technical support can't & wont help the customer overcome this problem

I've had several broadband suppliers over the last few years and PO is the absolute worst, we get internet drop outs several times a day (where the devices are connected to the router but there's no internet) and on reporting to them I just get told there's no issue with the line. If I want to download anything then I cannot stream video at the same time. I can't wait for my contract to finish so that I can get back to having usable internet.

DO NOT SIGN UP. CHEAP FOR A REASON.
Promised good speeds but actual speed was 0.7mpbs at best - totally unusable. Previous broadband supplier gave speeds of 6mpbs.
Post Office tech support initially blamed it on my phone socket until I told them it worked fine with previous supplier.
They finally admitted that they couldn't deliver the speeds promised and contract was ended.
They didn't complete switchover correctly which took several calls to resolve.
Back with my old supplier and I suddenly have 7mbps!
Very nice staff at the post office telecoms team but unfortunately let down by poor broadband speeds.

I must tell you they are terrible, emailed them to cancel was told had to call to cancel so I did. Explained I would no longer be at this address after my service ends so would need my final bill before I move. Told by the post office this is not possible at the bill will be sent to my old address. How stupid is that if you want to be paid send the bill to me before this property is empty told they wont. Simple answer to you post office no bill before I leave then you get no final payment as simple as that. Also customer service when you try to cancel oh my god they are so rude because you want to cancel took me ages on the phone to get them to cancel. I will never use again ever.

After using many broadband providers i am sorry to say post office broadband has been the worst for speed connection and customer service. After almost 12 months i called to say i would not be renewing my contract and told post office about the poor speed and loss of connection, i was asked if it could be improved would i stay. Yes certainly so was put through to someone technical .working from home had to complain about the rapping music as i could not hear the lady. She put the phone down on me before i had fi ished speaking to her. I was asked to put a different filter in the phone socket box which didnt make a difference and when i called back After 2 days to cancel and explained again why i was told that the filter i was asked to put in the socket wouldnt have made the slightest difference and couldnt understand why i was asked to put this in. Thank you to the man who told me this and took my cancellation notice. Now that i have cancelled it seems that the internet is cutting off more than ever and believe it to be due to cancelling. I have never really complained so i think this tactic is not good for future reference.
I strongly advice not to use the post office broadband it may be cheaper but is not very good and bottom of the list of my previous broadband providers

AVOID! I cannot believe I am writing this! It took a week to get connected and now it is connected it's off more than its on! Customer services are pleasant when you call. But clearly reading through a tick off list! Several times now I have had to unscrew my connection box to try second plug! Engineer replaced faulty cable that was in my starter pack! Every day at least 6-7 times connection is lost. Sometimes for hours! It's a terrible service!

The post office broadband customer service is absolutely awful. We renewed with them 3 months ago only to get a bill the following month for a different tariff. I called straight away and they confirmed our renewal was not put through correctly and also the agent had mis sold the renewal tariff to a lesser quality broadband. They have sent us Bill's ever since and we have switched provider. They have promised me numerous call backs from the so called manager and they are completely afraid to give a surname. I am still awaiting a call 2 months later. I have told them I will report them to the ombudsman, trading standards and even go to court if I have too. They are just order takers at the customer service department and never want to deal with the issue, only collect the info and pass it to someone else who does nothing with it. I will be surprised if they fix the issue they've caused themselves

    Terrible service from PO Broadband.
Been with them for 6 weeks.
Was fine for first three weeks then started having problems with router not showing Chromecast as being on network despite chromecast and other devices being connected to internet through the router.
Phoned tech support, first time talked me through some settings, but no solution. Got email from them admitting problems with chromecast and wireless printers.
Second phone call to tech support, guy didn't know what a Chromecast was!
Recommended I contact router manufacturer Zyxel directly for support, tried that but they were uncontactable.
Unbelivable poor service from PO Broadband.

As others have found broadband cuts out several times a day. Also quality of phone line is poor, very crackly and sometimes cuts out mid call or caller cannot hear us. Had reported faults 3 times since changing to fibre. Am told by customer services that their line check shows we have a fault but after engineer visits we are told no fault found. Told it's electrical interference from neighbours!!! Can't wait for end of
    contract.

Staff at the call centres are always really friendly and helpful and I've never had an issue with them whenever I'd call so I cannot fault this - HOWEVER, you get what you pay for.

It's the cheapest internet deal available because it's painfully slow. Mine is £15 a month and I can just about stream something on netflix after waiting ages for it to load. Often the internet cuts out several times a week (that I notice) and shows the red light for a few minutes and apparently this happens when the router resets itself to give you a better connection, this is however incredibly frustrating.
If you want to watch or stream anything, you're best off watching at 360p or under. I struggle to load 480p and don't even attempt 720p/1080p.
You cannot stream something and use your phone to browse facebook or instagram at the same time, You can do one or the other and only ever one thing at a time. Even when you are just using your phone indoors and not using the internet for anything else, apps like this take a ridiculously long time to load.
The upload speed is actually a joke, 20 minutes to upload a single photo post to facebook is my average and I've started just relying on my phones 4G.

You can test your internet connection (upload and download speeds) via google, and even when you do this without using the internet for anything else, Google comes back every time and tells you that your internet speed is all in the red and far below average (AND THIS IS WHEN NOT IN USE FOR ANYTHING ELSE!).

If you want the bare minimum of internet connectivity and don't rely on the internet for anything, this is perfect for you. If you actually want to use the internet, don't go with the post office.

Once my contracts over, I'll definitely be going elsewhere - lesson learned.

Customer service is very poor. I was without a landline & broadband for nine days because of a failure to activate the system. My contract of one year has recently expired & I changed supplier. Now they are trying to charge me £25 for terminating my contract early- I will pay my final bill but not the additional charge. Shell have now taken over from the Post Office- things can only get better...

The first time I have ever experienced difficulties in my attempts to start a new contact with a provider difficulties from day one the they failed to take over broadband from previous provider only phone which left me paying 2 providers for the same service and refused to acknowledge it was there error
Leaving me to deal with previous provider and cancel
Subsequent there router wasn’t working and they denied it was possible for there service to come through another router
Call on my answer machine request me to ring them I have honestly never been spoken to by a call advisor in such a disgraceful was all but called me a lier had to get my son to verify the facts
I asked if the call was costing me and was told no I have now been charged £8 to call them at there request to sort out there errors which are still ongoing and be spoken to like an idiot with all the wrong information given and actually paid them to do this !!!!
I only found this out by having to trace back the call history as they don’t recognise it as there one company and now I am expected to take a day off so they can send someone to verify equipment isn’t working and my old router is and apparently can as once again all wrong information given no apologies nothing is there fault
Why can’t I just receive clear accurate information and have what I am paying for delivered in the way the post office offered??

I have had no internet for a while now. I was late paying my bill. But it was paid in full on friday 13th january 2017. for the amount of £48.70. It was paid by visa so it was an instant payment. I have rang your VERY rude customer service twice. once on saturday 14th january and once on monday 16th january on saturday i was told it would be back on with in 36 hours. When i rang monday i was told i was still going to have to wait further. Most possibly until wednesday 18th january 2017. WHY do i have to wait 5 days to get resumed service? Most companies have it back on with in 24 hours. When my bill comes at the end of the billing month i want those 5 days payments refunded. I do not see why i should pay for almost a week of having no connection. This is not acceptable. Yes i was late with the bill as i had cash problems. But i still paid the bill as soon as i could and i think this is discusting service. I have had this problem before having to wait 3 days to get my service resumed. I made no complaints as i know i was late. That being said. I can not help if i have had cash flow problems. I HAVE ALWAYS sorted things as soon as i could and i want that to be recognised. I completeley understand the restriction and cut of service until a bill has been paid. That is common sence for a company. But i also believe as soon as your customers side of the bargain has been met. In which MINE HAS BEEN. they should be treat as well as any other customer. I could not help my circumstances. You may not understand that. Your probably a millionaire with no cash worries at all. But i am not. I am just an ordenary person in an expensive society trying to make the best of a bad financial situation. i need reconnecting the internet is mostly the only form of communication i get as i have MENTAL HEALTH issues which stop me from from going out and communicating. I have nervous breakdowns when im in public situations that i can not handle. Saying this. i still need to communicate or i would be compleatly alone. I do not appreciate this at all and i seriously want every day you have made me become a social leper by having no internet refunded off my bill total at the end of the month. your company is disrespectful and so is your call centre. This is not acceptable.

The most awful and dissatisfactory customer service team ever. The phone staff clearly suffer from some medical problems since none of them was able to send me my router for over 2 months after I called 4 time! This whole time I was getting cahrged for the service which I could not use due to not having received my router.

When you try to cancel your contract due to their poor and useless service, they try and make it really hard for you and first threaten you saying that it may not even be possibe to cnacel the contract. Then you are promised a refund for the period which you did not recieve any service, but don't get your hopes high, you are not going to see that refund!

    AVOID THIS COMPANY!

When it does decides to connect, the speeds are always as advertised. However, expect it to fully disconnect for 5 minutes randomly throughout the day. You may get lucky like we did and have the disconnects occur at the same time each day so you can plan your leisure time around when your ISP chooses that it doesn't fancy fulfilling it's job.If you don't have tin cans and string to spare, then the PO might be the right choice for you.

Snail speed internet - like on the same level as decent speed dial up.
Upload images to Imgur or eBay takes a long time. Downloading through torrents seems good though, it's just HTML related stuff that takes ages, especially uploading. I don't have streaming TV or anything, so I don't need mega speed, but Jesus, uploading images and videos ... !
I think this is the cheapest broadband out there, but it's also very slow in comparison with BT, etc.

This broadband is absolutely rubbish. You are lucky if you open up a tab and if it even loads within one minute. It cuts off around 7 times a day and when it is on, it runs like a snail. Please, please, please DO NOT buy!!!

This is the worst Broadband ever!!! If it wasn’t for COVID-19 I would have left them! To be honest I wish I did! I even upgraded my package and I have had nothing but issues! I have currently been left with no internet for 5 days now! Who would settle for that service no one but yet they are in no rush to fix my issue! Engineer was meant to be dealing with the issue only to call up for an update to be told to provide further times for my availability! If I didn’t call wouldn’t of known this no one called me to provide further times to add insult the dates I had to select we’re towards the end of the week meaning that I would have no internet for ONE WHOLE week ridiculous absolutely ridiculous!

When I asked to be put through to a manager I was told they would get back to me 24-48 hours can you imagine!

Whatever you do! Do not get Post Office as your internet provider!

Service drops every day for a few minutes at the time. I lived in many countries and this is the worst broadband service I ever had. Speed is fine. I would be 100% satisfied if the service was reliable.

PO as internet provider have failed me (and I believe others) miserably at a time when we in UK are in virtual lockdown and depend on Fb/Social Media and other IT facilities to check on family and friends - and in my case, also vulnerable clients!!! This is day 3 of Safeguard issues and limited connectivity - no contact, no explanation, and now telephone line can't take any more calls!!!!! Unacceptable way to treat paying customers......Time to move providers me thinks

NOT RECOMMENDED...Have just about finished the year I signed up for, can’t wait to leave, it completelycuts out a lot, daily a few times for several minutes, the advisors seem to think this is usual. Previously talk talk this wasn’t common. Router is their own rubbish one you can’t use yours,
I hated it as soon as I joined on a bargain deal, not worth it and should have left immediately. They told me it would improve after a couple of weeks. I spent the first months endlessly emailin* them. They kept calling me by phone eg to give me passwords etc in work hours. Made billing mistakes, not got a clue.Totally BIzarre. Website horrendous, old fashioned rubbish. Aaaarghh. Happy to leave it can’t be worse.

The service was bearable up till i got my xbox one s. now it takes over 7hours for games to update or new games to download. Great customer service though and very helpful, english based customer service team who are very willing to help. If you dont need a broadband for gaming or downloading much then are good for basic things. will move to a broadband faster for gaming.

The speed ok at about 12 MBps but I'd be having really bad connection problems. I wondered if it might be a crappy router so I tried connecting my previous D-Link TalkTalk router and the connection stability seems to be much better (at least for the two days in so far I've been trying it out). If you do this you'll need to be comfortable logging into the Talk Talk (or other) router admin and adding the post office connection details. You can get these from the Post Office router back up file that you can export from the admin login and open in a text editor.

Wouldn't use if the last provider on earth. 6 years after terminating contract still in dispute and raising 3rd Ofcom case.
Stay away if you want any form of customer service.

Unfortunately I did not read reviews before switching from previous broadband supplier to PO., and did not know that their router does not connect to wireless printers which I depend upon. Nor do they mention this anywhere. They also seemed to think this is acceptable and advised me to buy a 3rd party router. The speed is ok most of the time. Do NOT buy PO broadband. My intention to save money has backfired and can’t wait to leave.

Haven't had such a poor internet service since the old dial up modem days. Incompetent installation. 3 weeks without internet. Customer Services attempt to pass the blame elsewhere even when you have evidence to the contrary. Can't wait to change providers.

    Appalling customer service - Avoid.

We changed to Post Office broadband as their deal was competitive. The change over from our last supplier was trouble free. Once set up we had to buy a booster to get a signal in all parts of the house. This is something we've never had to do before but wasn't a major issue.

Tbe problem is when it goes wrong......

We have been without internet for 4 weeks. We reported the fault on a Saturday and were advised that an engineer would come out and that they would contact us the following week with an appointment time.

They did not contact us so we had to ring them back. We were then told the problem was an underground cable and that it would be repaired by the end of the week. This date came and went and the fault was not repaired.

There were no updates from their Customer Services so we phoned them again. We were then told the problem was a local network fault and that it would be repaired in 3 working days.

This date came and went with no updates so we phoned back again. We were again told they would report the fault and that it would be repaired with 3 working days.

Again it was not repaired, another call was made and we were told an engineer had been assigned and it would be repaired by the end of the day.....I think you know where this is going......

An email was sent registering a complaint to which they say they will respond in 5 working days, they haven't!

A further phone call to be advised that an engineer has been assigned for this Friday when the fault will be repaired. I have no confidence that this will happen.

I have now spoken to Ofcom and taken advice on leaving the contract early without incurring a penalty.

My advice is pay around the Post Office.
