Signed up a few months back, as I had recently moved into my own place. I went for the 75MBP/s download top limit, and 32MBP/s upload. Everything was great for the first few weeks, and then they came to do some work in my area on the lines. Suddenly 1MBP/s if that, on a daily basis it would disconnect for hours on end - and if it did reconnect it would be on 100KBP/s which takes around 5-10 minutes to open any web page no chance of watching any videos or whatnot.

So I ring up and tell them of my issues, the first time I called they answered within 5 minutes and told me some work was done so they will send someone out to check the line for me. Well no one ever came out, nothing changed. The second time I rang they went through a router diagnostic and reset with me and that kind of worked, got me up to around 6MBP/s for about 2 days. Then it went back down to 100KBP/s.

I rang a third time, waiting about 20 minutes for someone to answer - She told me that she was passing me off to stage 2 as it was more than she was capable of helping with. I waiting an hour with no answer before hanging up.

Over the past 3 weeks I've rung twice a day to try get through to someone, waiting between 30 minutes to an hour for someone to answer and no one ever does. Perhaps new customers take priority?

Today I managed to get through to someone to cancel my contract as they aren't holding up their end of it legally - but they told me it was a technical issue and never cancel my contract, they keep passing me to technical without doing anything I ask them to.

To anyone thinking about taking a chance because it seems cheap for what you get, DON'T!!!

It's a scam, once they draw you in you can't seem to leave. You are waiting far too long for someone to answer the damn phone, and even then they will probably pass you onto someone else and you are waiting another hour or more.

Not worth the money, not worth your time, not worth your custom. Avoid this provider as they clearly are not professionals.

I switched to Origin because apprently with them I could have gotten fibre. And Plusnet as existing customer was extremely slow and very expensive.
However, I did not get fibre but get charged for it every month and have to phone customer services, which are a nightmare to get hold of. I have spent over 3 hours in the queue in customer services altogether according to my biil, until the broadband was running, then twice already over an hour each to get my bill amended and contract changed. You cannot reach them online, issues have to be reported phone.
The connection keeops dropping constantly.
The only advantage is that they are a lot faster now than plusnet has been. I still will leave them as soon as my contract finishes, and definately not go back to them until they upgrade their customer service.

One word - don't. We were with these for a couple of months during which everything was fine, then they sent us a card saying they were making some changes. From that point onwards everything was a disaster. The connection kept dropping out, the speed yo-yo'd wildly from ridiculously fast, to an unworkable snail's pace, and we made countless calls to their technical team spending hours on hold. Every time we had to wait ages to talk to someone, then wait even longer to speak to someone in Advanced Technical. Every time somebody different promised to personally sort it out, one guy told us he'd get back to us by email or phone the following day, knowing full well he wasn't even going to be in the office on that day. Origin told us the line is at fault, BT Openreach told us the router is at fault, and finally we've had enough - we've been paying for superfast broadband which has turned out to be completely non-functioning broadband, and we've ditched them. How are these clowns still in business?

Worst internet provider ever - don't use! At best, internet speed that takes 10 minutes for a page to load. At worst, no internet for days. Unhelpful call centre staff - the best they could suggest was spending £50 on a new router. We had perfect sky before - never should have switched.

Avoid Origin. The service is unreliable, slow and the technical support is non-existent. Will be moving asap.

I have been pleasantly surprised with Origin service of Broadband. I signed up for it on the Monday and it was installed and up and running by Thursday. So far the speed has been pretty good when lasted tested
12.21 Mb Download speed
0.72Mb upload
37 ms ping time

I do live very central though near Meadowbank athletics track so do take that into consideration.

The customer service has overall been with good twice I have called and been answered within 5 minutes and the other two times between 15 and 30 minutes. The help centre is based in the Uk as well

I don’t suppose it will make any difference to them actually fixing my outstanding issues, but I would like to help others making their future broadband provider choices and say this company don’t give a fig about customer service. Their technicians will say anything to get you to go away; I’ll report it to networks, I will assign it to myself so I can monitor it and the ultimate push off I will call you back when I am back in and then don’t.
Have just spent another evening trying to get through with no success. So go on Origin get in touch if you dare and let me actually provide you with some constructive comments on your service processes.

I switched to Origin in the last few weeks. The speed continued to be slow so I called customer service. They ran checks and arranged for an engineer to come out. With in two days my line was fixed and I’m now getting 75.57MBPS download speed and 9.95 MBPS. There was a long wait to get through but they sorted my problem very quickly. My experience is much better than other people’s reviews suggest theirs was. I’m very pleased so far :-)

dont buy! they steal your money and time
worse service I could have ever imagine. It took 26 days to get an engineer to come and get the line active. That didnt happen, then they sent the router a day before my line was suppose to be active, to a wrong address. I had to deal with parcelforce myself. Impossible to call them because there's a waiting time and after 30 minutes of wait they hang up on you.
Cant even cancel as my line is "active" and I obviously still have no service.
DONT EVER BUY. Bunch of thieves.

1. 6 weeks for activation
2. Poor customer service

Ordered on 14th October. Told would take 3 weeks to activate and engineer wouldn't need to access property.

Didn't activate on said day. Rang Customer Service next day - on hold for 1 hour, then line cuts off. Finally get through, I am told the date for activation has been pushed back to 21 Nov for "unexpected delays".

6 weeks for activation is unacceptable. Also no prior notification of delay. Customer service that was a nightmare to get hold of and then couldn't provide any information on the cause of the delay.

Customer service folks are polite, well mannered and competent, if you're lucky enough to get through to them. They simply seem overwhelmed; no replies to emails, hour-long waits for phone support even at 2am. Just been switched for free to fibre broadband, but they forgot to send me a new router (3 days no broadband), and now I'm connected the speed is inexplicably slower than the copper wire I had previously, and Origin seem clueless as to why. I'll probably switch back to Plusnet next month. Pity these comms companies always ensure there's a big gap between you broadband and line rental saver switchover dates.

What a joke of a company was with them for 12 months no notification contract had ended. Found a more competitive deal with them via cash back as a new customer, unable to process new order as they required me to cancel my existng service even though I was out of contract wait 10 - 15 days without any broadband or phone service. This company needs to put the customer both new and exist of at the centre of all they do. The 10-15 days without service will be worth it as its costs them more in administration the cancel the existing service and set me up as a new customers plus new annual cost has reduced by 8%

My Average download speed is less that 1mb/s (not 20-30mb/s as advertised) and subsequently I will die of starvation whilst waiting the proposed 64 hours for a 50gb installation on my console which by the way is a very average size download for a console. Origin broadband isn't far the most ridiculous excuse of an internet service provider within the entire universe.

By far the worst company I've ever dealt with! I agreed to the £16.99 broadband per month to later find sums from £40-80 had left my account to no explanation as to why. My service was poor I complained and conveniently my complaints were lost and I had to re-explain on a number of occasions to despair. This went on from May till Novemebr they eventually agreed to refund my full payments only to find they again took the money out of my account! Months of grief and no explanation I've never been so frustrated. Even the staff bad talk the firm how they continue to run is beyond me.
Believe me when I say AVOID

Worst company i ever dealt with. There customer service is non existent. They took my money straight away. No correspondence to tell me when we would go live. I called every day they promised a call back never happened. They blamed open reach. After 4 weeks and no date given i gave up and cancelled to which they said i get a refund in 14 working days so a month no doubt ill have to chase that. Every time you call it takes them 45 min to answer. So this company is a sham of a mockery. Do not go near them.

It just goes from bad to worse with this pathetic excuse for a company. I had lots of problems to start with but now i'm about ten months into my year contract they have decided to start charging me for line rental, even though I paid a year in advance for line rental and calls. I did email their non existant customer services and got no reply. I eventually managed to speak to someone who said they would sort it out and I'm still waiting. Wish I had read these reviews before joining this joke of an ISP called Origin. Signed up in first week of October 1.I then received an email 2 days later to advise there had been a technical delay. 2. We are heading into the 4th week and I've received not a single correspondence from them. 3. Router was supposed to have been sent a few days before my go live date of the 24th October they never sent a router. 4. Rang up 4 different times with average 20mins call wait time chasing this. 5. Each time I was given conflicting information. 6. Was told they had a back log in sending routers hence the reason they hadn't sent it.7. Bearing in mind internet has apparently gone live but I can't use it bcos no equipment. 8. Finally lost my patience and called to make a formal complaint about poor service. 9. Staff didn't seem to know their own complaints processes and I had to speak to manager after almost 40mins on the phone. 10. Finally get a text message this evening from parcelforce about the router being dispatched. 11. In text message Origin had given them the wrong delivery address for me. At this point I've just lost the will. PLEASE AVOID ORIGIN AT ALL COST. TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY.AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.

Decent broadband service so far (after 3 months). I get the impression however they are very understaffed. Only had to phone on one occasion for an issue and took around 10 minutes to get help. The person who was helping was very good/helpful but ultimately unable to resolve the issue. Further technical help meant waiting an hour on the phone listening to music and still no answer so eventually gave up.

They also keep sending me monthly bills via email despite the fact that I paid the entire year in advance. When I called to inform of the error (about a 15 minute wait for an answer) was told it was a known issue and they were trying to resolve it. Same thing keeps happening however as I keep recieving bills each month.

had been with Talktalk for about 3 years and to be honest they where not bad .then I moved to my current address thats when things started to annoy me ,no signal then it would rectify itself ,then I needed to contact them talking to somebody in South Africa for 45 minutes sometimes longer with mixed results or I would just stop the phone call left to go to ORIGIN why ? british company reasonably cheap AND when ,needed I could talk to somebody who speak English mixed results finally after a lot of messing about got decent speed I,m on ADSL then 3/4 WEEKS AGO I was in Middlesbrough bus station and talk talk where selling there services via there agents ,I decided to go back to them because I got a SIM card deal with my broadband .the router arrived plugged everything in and NOTHING I had a red light on for 36 hours tried everything plugged router directly into BT socket I use an extension lead still no joy pressed buttons on side of router still no response .so yes I,ll ring talk talk South Africa went through the problems and got the usual thank you for that ,yes we.ll run tests ,nothing we can find ,what kind of socket do you have is it this is it that ?I,m sure people reading this will be familiar with things I,m talking about so in shear frustration ended the call .tried again the following day same results so router and everything packed up and is in some post office in TEESSIDE waiting to be deliver to enfield and a letter to talk talk in London so i.ll be getting letters demanding monies owed to admission of failure on there part oh no .and the good part ,oh yes I did,nt tell Origin I was leaving so I plugged there router back in and after 3or 4 minutes bingo we are away ,I used this site to check speed and its faster than ever 10 Mps wow .so thanks to talk talk what I can't get my head around is this ISP and all the other 570 I believe are ,supposedly regulated by OFCOM I don't know what things would be like if they weren't so its tatty bye
